Software :: Equal Software Solution To Acronis Home That Compatible With Systtem?
Jul 14, 2011
I have run Windows for quite some time and have recently started to use Ubuntu Linux. Is there an equal software solution to Acronis Home that is compatible with Linux? I like the ease of setting everything the way I like and then making a total backup to return to in case I mess something up later.
I forgot to mention that I would like something I can boot from a CD to restore (Like Acronis does).
I have a a software "Acronis True Image Home".Is it possible to backup CentOS Linux?on Windows do I need to create a bootdisk from Acronis and then boot it up on linux server?I wanted to copy all the files from Server to External USB Hard Drive or via FTP
"Upgraded" from FC5 32 bit to Fedora 10 64 bit using Fedora Live KDE disk, and unchecking the boxes to format drives with my personal data. In the install it recognized these as SW raid devices. One is raid 1, the other raid 5.
Now, it still recognizes the raid devices, and mdstat claims they are working fine, but I cannot mount them (mount says must specify a FS type, but that doesn't work either).
I have a CentOS box set up as a small home server right now. It is running a Apache Server. A SVN server and is going be a file server for all my friends. The problem is that it I need to add more SATA ports. RAID is not a big deal to me so the card can be a simple add in card. I am limited to PCI because the board does not have any pci expres slots. I am also interested in what hard drives that card would work with. I am hoping to keep them to 500 Gigs min. The motherboard has two built in SATA prots but I don't use them have had bad luck with them in the past
System: AMD Athlon 64 3400+ cpu MSI K8N Neo Series motherboard 3 IDE Hard Drives 1 CD Drive CentOS 5
I recently moved (~65mi). I have all my files on my Linux Server at home. I want to find a way to have 2 Ubuntu Workstations (at my office/apartment) and Laptop to all be able to stream my media from my home server. (The server get about 600kbps upstream).
Accessing the files I found OpenVPN and NFS to work great - however streaming my videos hasn't been so good - its extremely choppy and unwatchable. I realize there is no perfect solution, but is there anything that could be setup to buffer/prefetch/compress videos making them tolerable to watch?
I am looking for the best solution for backup, I want to backup the /home/user.I know about rdiff, and rsync but is there a better solution for backup these folder. And the security must be good, The backup I want to make is from a server to a server in a datacenter. Both servers are running on UBUNTU 9.10.
We use Acronis for creating harddrive backups. The file format is "tib".We were able to mount the image using Acronis to make sure the files were restorable.
I would like to create a Suse 11.3 Live CD with Acronis on it so that I can boot from any computer, use Acronis, and still have some Linux commands available to me. Is this possible? I could part with OpenOffice.org to provide room for Acronis.
I currently have Acronis selectable in my grub menu, and it runs from my hard drive.
I'm quite new to Linux and totally new to CentOS. I need it to isntall a Lotus Domino Server, and for security reason i'd like to install the Acronis Linux agent to backup this server with my Win Acronis enterprise server. I have installed a new CentOS server 5.4 on a Vmware virtual machine, then installed the Acronis Linux agent following the instruction here [URL].. The agent seems to work because with the command "/etc/init.d/acronis_agent status" the sistem respond with "Acronis Agenti is running"
But i can't connect to the agent from the server console!
I have disabled the firewall to avoid any connectin problem...
I have a router having four ethernet ports and bandwidth of this router is 500kbps. Suppose one user used one Ethernet ports only rest of Ethernet ports are free, that user should get 500Kbps. If I Add one or more user to any of the Remaining Ethernet ports how can i equally share a bandwidth among those two users ,it means each user should get 250kbps.
Does anybody know of a program that can make make images of the entire hard drive while it's in use? Like Ghost and Acronis can do? I have a production ubuntu system that I need backups of, however, I can't power it off.
how to Divide Equal Bandwidth between / Among Network Clients? e.g if there is total bandwidth = 10Mbps and only 5 clients are online then bandwidth should be divided evenly i.e each client to 2Mbps and if 20 clients are online then 0.5Mbps to each client automatically. [in windows this can be done by bandwidthcontroller software now how it can be done in linux]
I'm trying to install Ubuntu, Windows 7, Meego, and Android x86 for a project. Here is what I have done so far: Partition the drive into 4 primary partitions of equal size (10gb each). Install Windows7, Android, and Meego onto separate partitions, in that order. Then, install Ubuntu, hoping that GRUB automatically detects the other OS's and creates entries for them. Unfortunately, the only entries in GRUB are for Ubuntu and Windows 7. How do I get to the other 2 OS's (Android and Meego) to show up?
New to Ubuntu and trying to ensure I can boot into Acronis Recovery Manager to be able to reimage Windows as and when appropriate. If I enable the Acronis Recovery Manager so that it overwrites the MBR then I run out of ROM I think which prevents it from loading. If I use the software CD that doesn't detect my sata drive. However, I made a rescue CD in Acronis and this does work but I'm only using my bootable CD drive temporarily in this system.I found this post (URL...) which seems to do what I would like and have managed to follow this to extract the files from my rescue CD into /boot/acronis. However this original post relates to Grub and as a newbie to Ubuntu I think I have Grub2. I can't figure out what the correct syntax is to make a new Grub Menu entry in /etc/grub.d/40_custom.
Firstly I've never (successfully) upgraded before using update manager -d but I've only tried once. I'm on 10.10 at the moment but I want to make a full disk backup using Acronis and try out 11.04 beta 1 so if I can't boot (like with the 11.04 Alpha 3) I'm ok.
What I want to know is if I upgrade to beta 1 it will install new things and settings, if beta 2 is released and I upgrade to that (after having beta 1 installed) will it overwrite all the settings again? Or will I be able to spend time set beta 1 up nice how I want it (if it works) and just smoothly upgrade gradually to final 11.04 keeping it pretty much exactly how I want it?
Also with the software sources, I understand I need to disable the ones I manually added before updating from 10.10 then to re-enable them, but how do I re-enable them for Natty as they are currently for Maverick? Do I just change the word Maverick to Natty, or is it better to remove and re-add them for natty? And do the authentication keys need updating or are they ok? I don't really know a lot about the keys.
1 more thing (sorry) will an upgrade overwrite any settings I have e.g. etc/fstab, sudoers, things like that? I know when you upgrade it gives you an option for some things e.g. keep or replace, if I keep old settings from maverick does it matter? Or does 11.04 add new lines/things to these files if I choose replace?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm pretty new been using ubuntu as my only OS for couple months now and most of my time has been spent tweaking settings and I don't want to lose them, or do a clean install when 11.04 final is released as I won't ever be able to remember them all.
If I only want to let a user be able to login via telnet a max number of times equal to 2 how would I go about doing this?I have found this little tid bit:per_source = 2but that only allows 2 connections from the same source (i.e. network) and that would not work. For some reason our telnet sessions are not dying off after a user has shutdown their PC and then the next time they login it adds another telnet session.
I want to know any command which is equal to disconnecting and reconnecting lan cable. actually sometimes my router takes some time to connect to internet and when this happens my desktop shows network disconnected. but when router is connected system does no detect it and i have to manually disconnect and reconnect the cable which is not convenient.
When i try to run pitivi i get the following message and it closes down. "Install a version of the GStreamer Python bindings greater or equal to 0.10.19" without the quotes. What do I need to do? Where is the deb package for gstreamer needed?

How can I set a pattern that will output a filename equal to the original filename? E.g.
I've just install a new Virtual Machine with Centos 5.4 on a server running VMWare Server 2.0. I need to install Acronis 10 Linux Agent (latest version). My kernel version is 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5. I already install Acronis Agent. Compile kernel for module snapapi26 0.7.47.When I reboot machine it starts correctly, but when I connect to it from my Acronis Console running on host machine, Centos freeze and keyboard led start blinking.
I have a strange problem when I do SSH to a FEDORA9 based Linux Server.

When I login using "adah" username in TELNET I am automatically directed to my home directory at location "/media/disk-1/home/adah". But when I use SSH to login using the same username I get the following message Code: Could not chdir to home directory /home/adahaj: Permission denied
