how to Divide Equal Bandwidth between / Among Network Clients? e.g if there is total bandwidth = 10Mbps and only 5 clients are online then bandwidth should be divided evenly i.e each client to 2Mbps and if 20 clients are online then 0.5Mbps to each client automatically. [in windows this can be done by bandwidthcontroller software now how it can be done in linux]

I'm ideally looking for a quick easy-to-use GUI application, rather than something that's done via the command line.
I thought perhaps I could look in my Account and find a nice "You've used X percent of 250 GB thus far" window. Then I called, but Comcast couldn't tell me. They just borked me off to some Windoze application 3rd party which I'm supposed to install.
I run Skype and occasionally download Fedora iso images and so on. Rarely am I doing more than surfing the web, chatting, and sending emails. I doubt I'm even close to 250GBs but I'm guessing that 5GB will end up being problematic.
Are there any programs that will keep track of how much bandwidth I'm using? It'd be great to have an application that runs there in the taskbar and just shows a graph of how much I've used thus far.
I need to set up a VPN between 2 clients but don't have the foggiest idea where to start. I have searched the internet in vain, I have yet to discover the steps I need to take.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi want to ask a question. sometimes i use a gprs modem to connect to the net. the gprs modem uses the usb port. i've connected this pc to another machine through crossover cable. the problem is that when there are two active connections, firefox can't load anything. also how can i share the gprs modem with my other pc that is connected via crossover?
PS. in my active network connections it shows:
eth0- the NIC
and auto eth1 - the gprs modem
i have also tried to change the firefox preferences but to no avail.
Both my computers run on FC11.
I'm setting up a network for a school. The network has 11 client computers (windows xp) and a server (fedora 10) All I need to do is have a share for all the children to use. (this I did by adding each client to the workgroup specified on samba then I just map the drive). The issue turns out to be that I have over 300 users. The users don't always use the same computer therefore I need the users to be registered on all 11 clients. How can I do this? I have been searching and I've not gotten anywhere. How can I add the computers to a domain instead of a workgroup? What can I use?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using Fedora 9 (64 bit).At the moment, I'm trying to download Fedora 11 using a bit torrent, which is reportedly connected at an average of about 25kbps.The only problem is that whilst the download is active, I can hardly even surf the net properly, even though my current isp connection speed is 5.5mbps.There don't appear to be any background processes running that would utilise any of the bandwidth, and as soon as I pause the torrent the problem disappears.I'm dual booting with Vista, and I don't seem to get the same problem under that OS, so I'm guessing it's something to do with my network settings in Fedora.

My local webserver ip address is 192.168.0.1 and when im trying to view this on my xp clients i will type it in the url 192.168.0.1. What im trying to do is view my webserver instead of typing ipaddress I'll type hmij.edu.ph for example and trying to resolve it locally through local dns resolution.. so every time i type for example. my webserver name hmij.edu.ph i want it to redirect it to my local webserver w/out going to the internet first.. I have a strange problem for internet. My clients (winxp - S2) can't get internet.Let me explain my scenerios. Fedora 10 with lan (eth0) having direct internet from dsl model, client (XP service pack 2) can use samba shares using dhcp (wlan0) installed in Fedora 10 box. client can ping my linux box.Now problem is: client (dosbox) can ping the google ip address (i.e ping 74.125.39.106) but can't use 'ping www.google.com'. That means ping with ip works for internet from my client. My linux box can. I can use internet from FC10 but can't use iexplorer from my client to have internet. I have enable ipmasquarding in Firewall and dhcpd is running on wlan0 for dynamic ip address of my clients.Can someone suggest me what kind of problem having I? What should i do to success iexplorer for internet? what possibly am i missing?

I am Network Administrator in a Degree College managing around 2500 Comps. My ISP has terminated its Internet link (15 Mbps) to our Linux Server (Installed 2 NIC) from where Internet connection is extended to rest of the machines in network.
