Software :: Clicksor Infestation In Firefox - Trots Out A Popup Referencing And Leading To A Junk Website
Mar 7, 2010
I always thought that Linux was immune to this sort of thing, but I've gotten an infestation of the Clicksor malware. When I bring up a page in Firefox from some websites (not this one, fortunately), it highlights words that it recognizes and then trots out a popup referencing that word and leading to a junk website. I've also had this problem in Chrome. How can I make that nasty beast go away?

Not sure if this is where to put this but I have tried googling to find a fix but couldn't find anything.
When I go to Travelocity to search for airfares a popup comes up. It is a small window and often it is for Netflix.
I can't figure out how to not have this popup show up. I have checked the Preferences/Content. I have block pop-up windows checked. I also looked to make sure travelocity is not listed, it isn't.
how to make this pop-up go away?

Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at [URL]
* Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com
* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
-and i try to access another that found the same problem
-but i open that website it can be open with firefox on window XP

Recently Firefox is showing some but not all the links inside a page in a website that I use every day.Firefox had worked well in the past years with this site, so I made a few tests:- I tested the web page on Firefox 3.5.9 on Fedora 12. Some links missing.- I tested the same web page on IE8 on Windows Vista. No issues, all links there.- I tested the same web page downgrading Firefox to version 3.5.4 and downgrading the required libraries. Same issue, some links missing.- I compared the html code that the web server hands to both IE8 and Firefox. They are exactly the same.I don't know enough about html or javascript to understand why Firefox doesn't like some of this code portion.
Code:
<td align='left'>
<p class='liga'><a href="javascript:GeneraId('11')"><img src="image.gif" BORDER=0

how to install firefox 3.6 on my 9.1 ubuntu. About adding various repository and the a sudo apt get and all that. I can do it that way, and I am sure it will work.
What stop me to just download the .deb package from mozilla for the version I want and install it? Will it be less integrated to the system, will it not be compatible with my 64bit ubuntu? I just find it so much simpler to download a package from the web and double click on it than going through terminal, yet no-one seems to propose this option.

The problem actually lies with Firefox (3.0.19) After I solved my problems, everything looked fine at first. That was until I went to one particular website and found that some links were missing. They simply were not showing in the browser. They were showing in the source code, so they should have appeared. Now, I have two different profiles by using:

I was viewing this website, this evening:
HTML Code:
http://www.hermanmiller.com/
It is a famous chair manufacture, which produce the famous line "Aeron Chairs". When you are on that web page, if you move your mouth to the "product" tag near the top of the page and click on "seating", you will see all their fancy chairs. Then after I click on the first model, I realize my entire ubuntu (10.04) was hung.
The month can still move, but sluggish and everything else lost responses, including keyboard and gnome panel and etc. And the only thing I can do is a hard reboot. And this problem is reproducible.
I can't find any error message from .xsession-errors, or dmesg, or syslog, or user.log or any log.
Is this a known bug for firefox or ubuntu?

I have a strange problem with my browser(s), even Epiphany....when I go to my music site [URL] then log in, go to my page and click on link to play a song the browser Crashes. It never did this before and I dont know what I could have done to cause this. It only does this on this website. Could it be that they use a Quicktime plugin to play the music? I don't know cause I used to be able to play music on there before. It doesnt do this on my Reverbnation site page, just Icompositions. If I click on the icon to restart browser a box comes up saying "we're sorry"...your browser crashed for no apparent reason.....and offers a choice to either reload the page (that repeatedly crashes) or start new session. It isn't a big deal but this never used to happen before. Could it be some bad code on that website?

The basics: Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid x64 with Firefox 3.6.11 on a Thinkpad T61p 2gb ram/500gb HD. When I try to access my email via Squirrelmail, Firefox hangs on loading. If I stop the page from loading, wait a few minutes, then try again, I have a 50:50 chance of it loading this time.
I've run the update to make sure I have the most recent versions of software, but it still hangs. I've tried a few cursory searches, but find nothing referencing Lucid or that is otherwise current.

I'm Dual-booting XP with Ubuntu Karmic Koala, heres my other specs:
CPU: Intel Pentium D 3.0Ghz family(15) model(4) stepping(4)
GFX: Geforce 7800 GT (had problems with GFX when I first installed Ubuntu, I had to update my drivers)
2 GB RAM
This is a nearly fresh install of Karmic Koala, I've only installed whatever updates I needed, graphics card drivers, KPlayer, and Google Chrome. Because I prefer Chrome over Firefox I immediately went to download Chrome, and Firefox would get to the Chrome page and then crash. I then got the Chrome install file from another computer and installed it. Chrome will not even launch, so I go to search the problem in Firefox and it crashes on ANY link I click in Google Search. I also tried to directly type websites into the URL box: it loads the pages title (Ex. "Yahoo! Mail"), and crashes before displaying the page at all.
This is a very odd problem to me as I used the same disc to install dual-boot with Win7 and Ubuntu on my laptop which works perfectly, and now this happens to my desktop.

I get an Untrusted Connection error when I visit this site to login into my GRE account, and I cannot add it as an exception, in Mozilla Firefox 4.0 on Ubuntu 11.04. When I visit the site using Chrome, I have no issues. Is this a bug in Firefox's certificate management? I'm using Ubuntu 11.04. I do not get this error in Windows' Firefox 4.0.

I had no problem installing Ziproxy, as its in the main packages But how to use it? I mean, so far I could find out, to start it, I musst run:ziproxy --daemon ([URL]) My /etc/ziproxy/ziproxy.conf is full of stuff I've found on internet:
[Code]....
But when I run it, and set the Firefox port to:9900 it fails to load any website. The goal is to compress to the maximum the images, and other stuff that uses too much bandwich (like Opera Turbo). I really dont care if a picture is full of pixels, or not. I do not want to use Opera, just to enjoy a fast Internet. I will not install Midori, Iron, Chrome, eLink or Arora. I want to continue with my usual Firefox and opera. The advantage is that in Firefox, I have NoScript, and other several improvements/extensions, which I cant enjoy in Opera.
I think the fault is, to include four different parameters (Address,Port,NextProxy,NextPort) that are probably for the same thing. Also had thought that perhaps there is some way to apply the proxy system-wide, not only in the Firefox settings. Maybe by editing the configuration of Networkmanager?

I have some strange behavior in Latex. I have added labels to all of my tables (currently there are 3) and my figure (currently there is only 1). So far I only notice this behavior with tables, though it may happen with figures as well...I will have to add another figure to test that.However, what is happening is that my list of tables is correctly generating the numbers of the tables (which are 3.1, 3.2, and 4.1). In the resulting PDF document, the tables have the correct numbers in the captions as well. The odd thing is that when I attempt to reference them using ef, it is printing the Chapter.Section[.Subsection] number the table is located in instead of the table's number itself.Right now I have two tables inside of Chapter 3 Section 3. They are as follows:
Code:
egin{table}[htdp]
egin{center}
[code]....

So after much intense reading of linux documentation and posts I can't find an answer to my question. Maybe someone can help.I am trying to access a kernel symbol that isn't exported (the symbol exists in /proc/kallsyms but not in Modules.symvers). Is there a non intrusive way (by avoiding compiling the kernel with CONFIG_KALLSYMS and parsing /proc/kallsyms in my LKM) to reference kernel symbols that are in /proc/kallsyms and not in Modules.symvers i.e. not exported symbols.

I am running into a small bit of difficulty with images I want to use in a Java program, keeping them bundled with the program in a JAR file and accessing them within the package.For those who are thinking it, this is definitely not homework.In my program, I have several images I would like to use on buttons on a toolbar.I have Googled, and I found something that comes close, but it deals with fetching images from a URL - nothing that deals with local files, more specifically, local images kept inside of a JARchive.

This is supposed to be possible right and better than naming each single cell?How do you do it?Also, maybe my approach is wrong as it's going to lead to a very big nested IF statement.There is a list of numbers which are price ceilings and another list of numbers containing the fees applied to these. I want to a formula that checks the item price against the ceilings and if it's less than or equal to that ceiling uses the fee in the adjacent row (which is the other data range).The only way I know how to do this is a big nested IF statement but does anyone know better?

I've got a situation. I'm having GNU bash version 3.00.16(1) on Solaris 10. I need to declare an array say arr1 which will be populated by an output of a command.
declare -a arr1
arr1=( $(/some/command) )
Supposing it will eventually (after executing the command) have element values as -
arr1[0]=1234
arr1[1]=5678
arr1[2]=7890
Now, I need to declare another set of arrays, one for each of the element values above - e.g.
declare -a arr1_1234
declare -a arr1_5678
declare -a arr1_7890
And I also need to populate elements of each of above 3 arrays with output of another command in a loop. So, these arrays will hold values something like -
arr1_1234[0]="abc"
arr1_1234[1]="def"
arr1_1234[2]="ghi"
arr1_5678[0]="jkl"
arr1_5678[1]="mno"
arr1_5678[2]="pqr"
arr1_7890[0]="tuv"
arr1_7890[1]="xyz"
arr1_7890[2]="aab"
I'm able to declare and populate arr1[*]. My question is how do I declare, populate and print the subsequent arrays and their elements?I am feeling rather thick to get this working.

I recently found an awful lot of junk files in my home directory, mostly in directories that start with a dot e.g. /home/my home/.mozilla So I did cd du -chs .??* and found 3.5 GB. After pruning, I find < 250 MB of files that I have knowingly created.What is happening is that I installed some programs, say xyz , tried them out and decided they were unsatisfactory, deleted them. The un-installer for xyz deletes the actual program but meanwhile xyz has installed lots of config files or status files in /home/my home/.xyz and the un-installer does not delete these. So if you are running short of space or if backups take forever, it might be worthwhile to do the above command or maybe

I'm trying to put together a script that will quickly run through an archive directory of log files that are named by day of the month 01.gz, 02.gz, 03.gz.... 31.gz. The script uses gunzip -c | grep | wc to count up the total number of hourly occurrences of a filename and outputs the results to stdout.
The only snag I have left is the octal limit when it gets to 08 and 09. I've seen examples using perl and awk, but this script uses a number of nested for loops and if statements that I don't want to have to rewrite in a different syntax. I found that I can use num=10#08 to set that variable to a base 10 instead of a base 8, but then I lose the leading 0 again when it passes the number to the next filename variable.

I can reach other hosts by means of their global addresses by either the IP address or hostname (that has the global address). What I want to (also) do is have a hostname that references the IPv6 link local IP address (an AAAA record in DNS, or just the fe80::<whatever> address in /etc/hosts) and use that host name in commands to access that host. The problem is, an interface ID is needed when making such a reference.
It sure looks like the programs just pass the host name string on to the resolver library, which does not understand the significance of the '%' even though it could find and see that the name preceding the '%' is consistent with that being an IPv6 link local address (e.g. the logic could have been "split at first % and see if preceeding name is found as a link local address and accept that if so, or ignore the split otherwise" ... but it isn't). Is there a different syntax for this ... or was it overlooked in the design of programming around IPv6?I want to be able to address a host by its link local address, while still using a mnemonic instead of having to type the IPv6 address.
