I've installed sinhala unicode support to my CentOS 5.4 machine, after that firefox able to render sinhala web pages well but browser title bar still doesn't showing sinhala letters. I've changed the default font in the browser to sinhala font but still have that problem.

And I want to be able to pipe it to sort on that third column, by letter first, then number. But I keep coming getting files sorted like:
(field separations all start at same place, so columns are not jagged like above.)
I have read the sort man pages, and have tried -n for the numbers, and -k for the position to start sorting, among other things. I also tried inputting a second position to start sorting, which sort should supposedly refer to if the two entries are identical at the first place being compared, but it seems to just ignore the second one. I just can't get it to sort the numbers properly...
For now I am manually opening the file in emacs and changing them around, needless to say, very time consuming.
I am trying to strip the numbers from the 5th columns and just get letters - in perl - i tried using subsrt, chop. and a regex -
what i want to get is:
i tired appending a regex perl -nle 'print /(w{1,20})d{1-20} but it did not work.
I would like to know how to make a script that can check that i input 3 letters and 3 numbers in some field.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHow can I change the mountpoint of my partition /media/documents to /documents.This is a partition of sdb and a fixed disk.The reason is that /media/ sometimes creates ghostdirectories while /Windows/C never does so, programmes writing/reading from this partition therfore don't work if a ghostdir_ exists.(BTW Suse is on sdb5 and sdb6. on sda is windows and used to be Ubuntu, the Suse-swap is sda5. Windows is out of use.)
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhenever, I successfully save a new document, the document's icon does not display in the KDE File Dialog until OpenOffice restarts. The document exists, because trying to do a "Save As" on it produces a dialog that states if one wants to overwrite the document. Also, trying to export a PDF twice has the same outcome.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThoroughly repeatably, OpenOffice locks up on me when scrolling inside documents. Here's the breakdown:
* Only happens when actively in the process of scrolling
* Doesn't matter if you use keyboard, mouse wheel, drag the scroll bar, or click the scroll arrows
* Always happens within 15 minutes of steady use
* Happens in both writer and calc -- haven't tested the others
* OOo freezes up and no longer repaints the window or responds to anything
* gnome-session peaks out at 100% CPU and stays there
* Currently running application continue to work fine
* Most applications (gnome-terminal, firefox, koffice) can no longer be launched
* Some applications (abiword) can still be launched
* Launching from icons brings up the spinner, but nothing else happens
* Launching a GUI app from a terminal, it looks like it runs on CLI, but nothing ever happens in the GUI proper
* X starts leaking descriptors and thus chewing up drive space at ~1M/s
Killing X and bringing up a new session puts everything back to normal, including CPU usage and drive space. This happens every time on my 64-bit Intel laptop and has persisted through several X/OpenOffice/kernel updates. It never happens on my 32-bit Intel desktop.

Bear in mind all these files have appropriate numbers in the front of each filename. I need help to change ONLY the first letter after each underscore to an uppercase letter. I'm sure this can be done but I've done so much searching in forums and with Google/linux until I'm scrambled.
I'm trying to use Sed to change all "l" letters with "I" in capitalized words something like this:
1. ONlON -> ONION
- and as opposite change the all "I" with "l" in a word in small letters such as:
2. DiIbert -> Dilbert
For the first case I'm using the below sentence which unfortunately changes words such as "let" in "It"

Recently I faced a problem in typing in English in OpenSuse 11.3.When I try to type in English it shows me Greek letter and worse than that I think it is really Greek (not only in font) because when I enter my passwords or try to type a command in terminal I get error,I tested with UK and USA and all other English languages and I still have this problem. I even do reset in my keyboard layout setting and in KDE setting but it didn't help.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a dual boot Win 7 and Ubuntu 11.04 I just started setting up - and know almost nothing about Linux - I have all my data on separate drives from my OS drives, and would like to "arrive" at my "My Documents" file when i choose "Documents" in Ubuntu.
The location of "My Documents" is - /media/New Volume/My Documents (which I found by dragging the folder onto the terminal) not quite sure how to put in the right command - something like ln -s /media/New Volume/My Documents ~Documents - (but that isn't right and didn't work).I also want to do the same with Music, Pictures and Videos.
