I've installed sinhala unicode support to my CentOS 5.4 machine, after that firefox able to render sinhala web pages well but browser title bar still doesn't showing sinhala letters. I've changed the default font in the browser to sinhala font but still have that problem.

View 6 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately far for all unicode characters can be displayed in Fedora by default, (much less than in M$ Wnd). There is a tool that aim to find and install missing fonts when an non-displayable character appears, but it starts mainly when I accidentally open non-text file in terminal and never when a web-page I open in Mozilla Firefox (or Konqueror) contains such kind of characters. So, I see a rectangle with hexadecimal number of character in it (or simply empty rectangle in case of Konqueror) and don't know if there is a easy way to see it by installing missing font automatically (or manually at last) for range of this character or a way to install complete font collection to display all unicode characters from all ranges.

View 4 Replies View Related'm running Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.04 dual-boot. After installing Ubuntu, I installed CompizConfig. So, here's my problem. I tried to enable the 3d workspace seitcher and when I did the title bars for all the windows disappeared. And I couldn't disable the 3d switcher. Not knowing what else to do, I restarted the computer. Now when I log in, it goes to my wallpaper but nothing works. All can do is shut down/restart by pressing ctrl alt delete. Is there anything I can do other than reinstalling?

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I faced a problem in typing in English in OpenSuse 11.3.When I try to type in English it shows me Greek letter and worse than that I think it is really Greek (not only in font) because when I enter my passwords or try to type a command in terminal I get error,I tested with UK and USA and all other English languages and I still have this problem. I even do reset in my keyboard layout setting and in KDE setting but it didn't help.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo when I upgraded to Slack64 13.1 on my asus MB homebrewed desktop and Slack 13.1 on my compaq presario a900 laptop, I started having issues with the xterm title (in Terminal--not Konsole) being too dynamic. By "too dynamic" I mean that I can't actually change the title. The dynamic title (from my .bashrc) is basically just pwd. Whenever I try to set the title (via terminal->set title (menu)), I changes it for a split second, and then reverts back to the dynamic title.
This is merely a petty annoyance, so to get around it, I added an xtitle function that I grabed somewhere online (just echos "�33]0;$*�07"). So for nano-ing some file, I'd type:xtitle some_file.txt; nano some_file.txt
That works just fine (kind of annoying to type though). running xtitle alone won't actually change the name either though (I'm pretty sure it's the same command as what terminal does anyway). That is, running: xtitle some_file.txt
changes the title for a split second, and the reverts back to my old pwd.What I really want is to have it dynamically name it "some_file.txt" whenever I use nano, but that appears to be a functionality of zsh (with the preexec() fxn).I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if you have a fix for it.

for example:
"Google - Mozilla Firefox" is not at the middle of the window title. and on Lynx it's on the left.
I recently downloaded Frets On Fire and the HRP Polymer pack for Duke3D...Duke3D runs fine with just EDuke32 and no mods, just Duke3D and EDuke32. But when I try the HRP Polymer pack, it says in Terminal "NVIDIA: Direct Rendering failed, attempting indirect rendering." This is fine...if I want the game to lag like hell, I'm sure my video card and the driver for it support DR, the video card is a NVIDIA Geforce FX 5200, the same message appears in terminal when I run Frets On Fire, I think it does with other games too, if someone could explain how to enable Direct Rendering.

Specifically the letter spacing (kerning) is very uneven with some letters squished together while others are spaced too far apart. This happens for printing to a file as well (PostScript or PDF). Attached is an example (converted to jpg). Has anyone else experienced this? I don't know if this is an issue with evolution itself or perhaps a backend used by it for output.

Changes to xorg.conf file: Firstly, I saved it at 16 color depth with the sudo nvidia-settings and by clicking on the save to xorg.conf file Button. Rebooted computer....... It worked, saved file, and I got the following bugs:
*Cannot move windows by dragging their title bars.
*Cannot see close "X" Button in the title bar.
*Cannot see Minimize Button in the title bar.
*Cannot see Maximize Button in the title bar.
Went back to 24 bits and problem got resolved. Then i tryed: I did sudo gedit xorg.conf I changed all the 24's with 16's ... Rebooted computer....... It works GOOD... BUT: I got the same bugs from before. I will retype them below

I installed CentOS. NetworkManager successfully installed and launched. I can ping any IP from terminal but I can't open any site in browser except 127.0.0.1 I can't open IP of the modem 192.168.1.1 in browser also.

I'm experimenting with a K8055 board, connected through USB to our Asterisk server,running on CentOS. If I connect the device I can see it being connected by watching /var/log/messages. Also the device is mentionned in /proc/bus/usb/devices. But when I do lsusb the device isn't showing up and it should be showing up! If it is not listed with lsusb, I can't connect to it through the k8055 executable...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've installed CentOS 5.3+ xampp 1.7.2 (apache,proftpd and php5) +postgresql 8.4. And some strange errors appear from time to time, but can't reproduce it by wish. For example client opens a webpage on CentOS, the page can be open many times, but in some moment browser gives error as for non-existing page and when I check lampp's logs, there is only a record in error_log "[notice] child pid NNNN exit signal Segmentation fault (11)".
Or another example: client opens ssh-connection and ftp-connection. When ftp-connection got timed out and server closes it, ssh-connection unexpectedly gets closed the same moment without any errors in logs. And again it happens not everytime, but cannot be related to physical network because the same server on the same network with Fedora never had such errors. Possibly xampp-1.7.2 is not too compatible with CentOS 5.3? How to get more info from system in this case?

I have a problem I've been banging my head against for hours.
I can't get an aliased folder to turn up: I just get a 404.
I've chowned the folder to apache:apache and most of it is chmod to 755. I tell apache of the changes, and have even tried restarting a few times.
I'm expecting it to turn up like this yyy.com/laura_shop/
(within which is a php script to do a shopping cart)
The apache directives look similar to what I have on my dev computer (which is Windows, mind you).
The directory and alias are defined within my main virtual server which you can see here:

I realise this is more of an apache/linux problem but perhaps familiarity with CentOS may get me the right answer quicker.
after I do all new installation and before i do PHP update my browser can show me apache default page but after update PHP to 5.2.0 I can't even see the default page and always give me Problem loading page and I have 3-4 times reinstall my server which i need to do this as mail serer locally.
