I've just install qemu-kvm from [URL]
I run modprobe kvm and modprobe kvm-intel to load the modules, but the second command won't work.
It gives the following error -

I took some pictures tonight and plugged in my flash card reader (via usb) as always. Only this time, the device isn't assigned a proper location (like "sdc3").
A little research later and I *think* I need the module "usb-storage", which I can't get to load. It's been a *long* time since I had to mess with modules and I'd like some fresh eyes on what the problem might be.

I recently got a eSata docking station for hard drives and after deciding to make those volumes encrypted LVM's, I created my first logical volume. After setting it up in yast2 and rebooting I received a prompt for the lvm password, gave it and received:

Boot resumed and I looked for the reason for this, the padlock-sha.ko module does exist in the appropiate place and the volume was mounted in spite of the error message. Lvmdump seems to indicate that the volume is, in fact, encrypted. My thoughts at the moment are that the volume was encrypted by aes, so the padlock-sha.ko was not necessary to mount the volume. Backtracking the message log the same error happened during the creation of the volume before rebooting. The kernel version gives it away but it's a 11.2 machine.
I have server 10.04 running, and I modified my fstab file to automatically mount an NTFS partition on startup, but after a reboot, I see that I clearly did something wrong, as now it will not boot. The output is:

I updated the latest kernel and other new maintenance tonight and started getting this error at boot...doesn't appear to be hindering anything. My encrypted partitions (luks, ext4) still open and are accessible.

I have a problem with loading the powersaving kernel module p4-clockmod.ko. Tonight I installed ubuntu 10.10 (32 bit) on an external usb harddrive with a dvd I burned and I used my older desktop. I disconnected all internal and external drives first so everything had to be put on the usb drive I selected (only option available). I used the option to load extra software, use the entire hard drive, and let the software do it's thing. I basically had no options where to put things and it didn't have much choice.
When I boot the usb drive on my laptop (win 7 64 bit) by telling the bios to boot to it first... I get an error: modprobe: FATAL Could not load /lib/modules 2.6.35-22 generic modules No such file or directory. This message appears twice and then it does boot into ubuntu and seems to work fine. I'm new to this OS so that is an uneducated guess but the things I have done seem to be working. So exactly what is this error referring too? Is there a way to fix the problem or do I just ignore it.
I want to turn an old (2004) compaq computer into a webserver using debian. 2.8ghz celeron, 756mb ram, 80gb IDE HD.I installed debian through the first DVD, without laptop and desktop environments, and did a guided partition.This is the second time this problem has occurred, at first i thought i would try re-installing, but no avail.
As soon as i turn the computer on, i get a grub loader screen with two options, Debian or single user debian. Both choices present same issue. I have 3 accounts setup on this machine. One is root, one is my own, and one is for my kids. My account and root work fine, but today when I tried to log my kids on, startx fails (it also fails from runlevel4). I have tried creating new accounts and they fail as well. I have this old box that I used at school that I wanted to re-purpose and use. So i decided to that I wanted to run xp, ubuntu studio and slackware so I can learn about linux and do some other things with xp. I think I got through the installatiosa all fine and dandy, and I installed grub for my boot loader, I can boot into studio and xp, but I cant get into slackware. the grub boot menu is sorta funky too, it shows a generic and recovery mode for studio which is fine, and then another option for xp, some memory test boot option, but then for slackware it shows "Slackware Linux (Slackware 13.1.0) (on /dev/sda4) four times in a row. If I select any of them they all end up with some error; the third SW [slackware] option down the list of the repeated 4 allows me to sign into root, but when I type "startx" i get :

I have been searching for what causes these error messages from icewm. The moment I log out of the icewm session I see the following errors:XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":1.0"after 154 requests (154 known processed) with 0 events remaining.icewmbg: Can't open display: :1. X must be running and $DISPLAY set.I see this with 1.3.6 and also 1.3.7. I see the errors in Slackware 12.2, 13.1, and 13.37; and both run level 3 and 4. The errors appear with the proprietary nvidia, s3virge, tdfx, and virtualbox drivers.With 1.3.6 I was seeing concurrent segfault errors in /var/log/messages from icewmtray, but not in 1.3.7.I don't notice any related errors in the Xorg log.I see these errors only with icewm.Browsing the web reveals other people see these error messages too. I was trying to compile and insert a module. The module compiles fine and creates tool.ko file(am compiling it from Desktop). Next when I try to use "insmod tool.ko" , it gives em this error: insmod: error inserting 'tool.ko': -1 Operation not permitted.I tried to use modprobe instead , thinking it might install the dependencies(if any) by itself: "modprobe -v tool.ko" but it gives me this error

I am using Red Hat linux and trying to compile my own kernel...
i tries to upgrade my fc14 to fc15 using preupgrade. during installation packages process i get an error "fatal error bla-bla-bla installing netsniff-ng-...". i've booted in fc14 (in emergency mode) and manually removed old netsniff-ng package and installed new package. after that i've booted in preupgrade process. it finishes successfull. but now i can't boot in fc15 - i get "kernel panic" error. i've opened grub.conf and there is no 'initrd' section and there is no initramfs for fc15 in /boot folder. i've tried to boot fc15 with initrd /initramfs-bla-bla-fc14.i686.PAE.img. fc15 booted, but i think something wrong, because network not working, and there is only "lo" in ifconfig. what can i do?
