i have two domains(eg. my example.com and my domian.com) in my server for single static ip.i have also configured ftp server for those two domains.And also seperate ftp users for my domain.com and my example.com.
e.g. my domain.com----- ftp user----big
my example.com---- ftp user----small
i can able to access the ftp server from client pcs. my problem is when i tried to access ftp server by
ftp www.my domain.com
user small
passwd xxx
i.e the domain i want to access is my domain.com.
the username and password which i given is for my example.com
but i can able to login through that ftp user and the location is myexample.com location.
but i don't want this to happen .
i want mydomain.com to be accessed only through my domain ftp users and my example.com to be accessed only through my example.com ftp users,what to do.
I have a Slackware 12.1 box with mail server running on Postfix and Dovecot. My domain name is,say, [URL].. I have another domain, mail.xyz.net. I want to use both the domain for incoming. Like, someone sends mail to [URL]... otherone sends mail to user@xyz.net. Both the mail should be received.
How do I configure samba such that AD authentication still works when a DC is down? Do I need multiple kdc, admin_server, and kpasswd_server entries in krb5.conf?
I am looking at setting up a multiple postfix SMTP servers for a single domain. Below is my requirement, I would appreciate if someone out there could guide me to achieve this using postfix..
1. Want to setup 2 postfix SMTP Server with 1 POP3 Server.
2. Server1 will host POP3 & SMTP services for domain "metallica.one".(IP: 1.1.1.1, MX: mx1.metallica.one)
3. Server2 will host only SMTP services for domain "metallica.one" (IP: 1.1.1.2, MX: mx2.metallica.one)
4. Server1 & Server2 will be used as load balancing for sending mails. (either manual settings in email client, or auto-loadbalancing is still preferred).
5. Mail received for domain metallica.one on Server2 should be pushed/forwarded/relayed to Server1 where POP3 services are running.
6. Outgoing mails for other domains from Server2 should be sent directly to the other-domain-recipients without relaying to Server1.
I've got a home server running Ubuntu Server 9.04 and several machines running Ubuntu Desktop (9.04 and 8.04) and Windows (XP, Vista and 7). Now what I want to do is to create a domain and directory server similar in function to Windows Server w/ AD and join my other machines to the domain, but am not sure where to start. I already have file shares with Samba but now I want to setup a domain.
iam using centos5.2.configured qmail,vpopmail. while adding domain form vadddomain<domain.co.in> At first time domain folder get created in domains directory.and also postmaster user also get created by default.And also in mysql. Now the problem is after some times or rebooting system domain get erased automatic.also in /var/qmail/users/assign file domain name get erased.
I want to host 5 websites on my new virtual server so I have created 2 nameservers that point to my virtual server's IP addresses as a glue record. What confuses me is when I create a new domain on my server it gives the new domain it's own nameservers (ns1.thenewdomain.co.uk etc) do I need to change these records so they use the nameservers I created earlier? If I do? Which particular records should I change? I'm running a Unix virtual server with a Plesk control panel.

I have a Linux machine which is on my network but not on my domain. I have configured SAMBA FILESERVER for file sharing purpose. I have a Windows XP PC which is on the domain(windows server) that I am trying to connect to a share on the Linux box. I supply my credentials but regardless of which login I use I always get Logon Failure. I have created an account on the Linux machine with the same user name and password as my domain account but so far no luck. Can I connect from a domain PC to a non-domain Linux box? Is there something else I should be checking?
I'm working for a smallish non-profit that has gone through some recent growing pains. We have two sites that are currently without a domain controller, and no money for MS licenses, so I was thinking of trying to add a couple of additional Linux machines (we already run Linux for web services internally, and I've set up a test case previously to see if I could get a server to join the domain, which was a success) and was trying to find out if I can get them to act as Domain Controllers without replacing the domain. The main issue that I'm having at those locations is drive mappings are not happening correctly against our DFS file servers. The one other location that had this issue had it go away when we added a local DC. The domain is a Server 2008 domain.

My customer has a domain hosted by me and he has another domain hosted by another isp. He would like to have this domain am hosted to be forwarded so thwt upon entering the url he should have the website which is hosted by this other ISP displayed (the url of the website be musked). How do i configure my DNS at achieve this?
Is it possible to have one static IP address with a NAT network forwarding each domain name to certain internal/DMZ IP addresses? I know you can do it by port but if both websites are on port 80 can you forward to the corresponding server on the dmz.I ask this because I noticed the website braemere.com.au had to be typed into a web browser and entering the IP which is 202.47.5.7 did not take me to the website.

Also this whole "whois" thing scares me, if I am correct my information I enter when buying the domain is enter into some big pool of information. People can find this information out and dig up important information. url Can I prevent this with private Whois or how do I set it up? This website examples some of my fears with this whole WhoIs thing, url whois/Private-Whois.html Does most/all domain registers come with email or just email forwarding or both? How does that work? In the office there is a local network with samba+openldap PDC. The local domain name is company.net. The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?
I want to configure a single mail server to send and receive mail from multiple sub domains of my domain. I've already installed Postfix/Dovecot and it is perfectly working for mydomain.com. And also installed roundcube for Web Mail. Can I further customize this setup to process mail to sub domains? ex- someone@subdomain1.mydomain.com, someone@subdomain2.mydomain.com, someone2@subdomain1.mydomain.com (someone@subdomain1.mydomain.com and someone@subdomain2.mydomain.com are 2 separate users. they should be able to log on to web interface separately)
Currently i use system account names as email user names. (ex - systemusername@mydomain.com). The only MX record in my domain DNS pointed to current server (mailhost.mydomain.com). I read about postfix virtual domains. but couldnt figure out how to use it to achive my target. I do not need configuration details. Just explain me the way to do it. I can do the rest my self.

I could put each system on its own separate box -- for example, it's generally good practice to separate anything that external users have access to (such as a webserver) from internal processes such as accounting. Now, rather than dishing out the money for two separate servers, could I get away with just installing new instances of VMWare on the same box for each system?
To give you an idea, these are not large scale computationally sensitive systems. The accounting one is simply downloading and tallying emails, and the latter is just a webserver with maybe 5 hits per day on a good day. I could definitely pick up a new box for say $50, but I wanted to know the general practice of using VMWare on the same box versus two separate boxes.

I am setting up httpd to be accessed from over a LAN, so i don't have a .com domain name. I am thinking of going with the first option, it seems to be working...
i compiled and install postfix, and i using relayhost that point to my ISP. but my "DNS server" is on the same server where is installed postfix. and there is running apache with vhosts so i have domain that hosted on same server and in zonefiles of my domain my MX records points to Google Apps, to google's MX servers. But when i try send E-mail via sendmail to mail@mydomainonsameserver.com it not deliver mail to Google Apps totally, if i try to send to another E-mail everything fine it deliver it. so finally i done research this problem in Internet. And find that need to disable deliver mail to localhost(localdelivery)as i think postfix understand that the domain point to the same server where postfix have itself. and try to deliver mail local. but zonefile MX record even the domain on same server can point to another server outside. So i disabled localdelivery in postfix. and problem not fixed
My test messages from one mail server to another are getting sent to my spambucket and the only error in the logs is: warning: numeric domain name in resource data of MX record for [URL]: 74.63.64.42
I am newbie to postfix. I added a new domain to my postfix server in the main.cf under mydestinations variable and the relay_domains file. Also, added this domain to my backend exchange server. When I send a test message from the new domain, my messages from that domain appear to be stuck in the "queue active". What does it mean when you are stuck in this queue? Does this mean that my backend email server (exchange 2003) isn't allowing messages from this new domain OR that the POSTFIX server still needs configuring.

I have a server that runs on a static IP address with many hosting accounts. I am using the IspCP to manage the different sites. When a mail is sent, the headers include the box's own domain name: [URL]. Now [URL] is no longer active, so if an email from another account: [URL] sends mail, there is possibility that this mail is rejected by the receiver, if the receiver system does rDNS.
The receiving server will check the headers smtp sent from [URL] and come up as a fake, because [URL] is no longer registered. I wonder if there is a way to make the smtp headers reflect only the domain name that sent the mail. Then if joe sends mail, the server should replace[URL] with [URL]. If this is possible, then users that send mail will not get bounced because the rDNS lookup will map [URL] to the ip and the mail will be accepted.
