voici mon probleme, j un serveur ftp sous redhat, comment faire pour creer les utilisateurs, (mais pas des utilisateurs locaux), c-a-d, les utilisateurs peuvent acceder au serveur ftp distant partir du client ftp (dans une autre machine), par mot de passe et identifiant.

I made a "test" server recently, put a samba + apache + vsftp server on it. The first 2 work but the VSFTP server is troubling me. On my lan it works. but on a wan: My ISP blocks port 21 so I changed it to 2200, my friend tried to connect earlier (With "ftp://myip:2200") and he had to type in a name and password, he did that (I made him an account)he got 425 failed to establish connection. Now I Re-installed vsftpd again, did the exact same thing and now it just wouldn't connect. saying the webpage can't be found. Question 1: What should I do to let a user acces from outside of my LAN? I think it's because of passive mode: but I have no idea what ports I should open for passive mode? My ftp port is 2200.
FileZilla tells me.

These systems will only boot Ubuntu....no dual boot systems. Plus, I need a way to accommodate different size Hard drives such that the entire hard drive is used. View 2 Replies View RelatedCurrently one of my neighbours has his/her router transmitting open ( no encryption ) web access for anyone to enjoy. Unfortunately I do not believe he/she is aware others can use his/her internet or that the wireless feature is on at all. The reasons behind this are simple. The router is using its default SSID, and the access password and username are default. If I wanted to I could stuff up his/her router badly, but I am a nice person.
I need to locate his/her router. The only method I know of other than doorknocking is to locate it via three distance measurements from three different points. If I have 23 metres from point A for example, it could be 23 meters in any direction, creating a circle of possible positions. A second position and distance reading will allow me to narrow that down to exactly two positions, and a third distance reading with tell me exactly the spot the router is transmitting from.
I've drawn a diagram and attached it to explain what I plan to do. What I need to know how to do is get access to any information on the distance of the router from where my computer is. Even if each measurement is off by 1 or more metres, it should still be accurate enough to pinpoint a single house.

- There are four nodes
- Nodes three and four have large amounts of storage that will be used for storing user data.
- Nodes one and two will be running a couple of network services.
I'd like have nodes one and two to have a clustered filesystem just between them to store data for the services run only by them.is it possible to share one filesystem between two nodes and another filesystem between two other nodes? The cluster seems to try to make the storage changes across all nodes. They will not be able to spend the extra money to get the same storage in all four nodes. Here is what I have done. I am using CentOS 5.5. After installing CentOS, I did this:

...which I think makes sense because the cluster was supposed to create the PV and the volume group, but did not. I don't even think it tries. The first time it tries to do anything to another node is when I create a logical volume.
I started to use mailboxes instead of maildirs on my server. My server is with imapd on slackware.I found out that by Thunderbird I just cannot create sub-folders in my imap directory. My users used to manage their mails into hierarchically organized subfolders.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo here it is, I have a fileserver setup on Ubuntu Server 9.10 AMD64. In this system is 4 1.5TB SATAII drives. They are configured in RAID5 using MD. Now everything is working beautify, except when you need to create a directory. When you do, the system hangs for about 30 seconds. The I/O wait in top jumps up as well. Then the directory is created and everything works once again.
The odd part is it is only Directory creation that does this. I can copy, move, download and stream files off the server perfectly. I am baffeled as to what is causing it. It might be related to the fact that I expanded the array from 3 to 4 drives, it was after that, that I first noticed the problem.
Right now i have a HP DL 180 Server with 130 Gb Hard Disk & 8 Gb ram after Raiding0+1. i want to configure Domain Controller Server for my office for 200 to 300 Users. what should the partition size must be mentioned in my 130 Gb Hard Disk, is that going to be Sufficient for ME ?
i am bit confused about /Usr /Var /Boot partitions, as i need to manage perfectly in 130 GB
if i go with 4 Gb swap and remaining for " / " is that will be fine ? should i need to specify partition sizes separately for / tmp /var / usr ..
To be sure that the remote desktop was working, I tried from home, where I have both the laptop I want to connect to and the laptop from which I make the connection. It worked without any problem, but now I'm trying to connect from my work place and it's not working anymore. Both are connected to the same VPN, so I don know where the problem comes from.

The Quick Traceroute report under the same tab lists the HOP and RTT time. I was thinking that for a given server, the value for the Network Distance would be the same as the HOP field when initiating the scans from the same server, but they are not.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to rsync files and directories from a RedHat linux host(v 4.5 & 4.7) to a Windows server 2003R2 Standard Edition with cygwin running. I'm executing the rsync command from the cygwin shell. The transfer involves rsync'ing approximately 1 TB of data from the linux server to the windows server. After about 280+GB of data transfer, the transfer just dies.
There seems to be no particular file or directory that the transfer stops at. I'm able to rsync GB's of data from other linux hosts to this cygwin server with no problem. Files and directories rsync fine.The network infrastructure is essentially the same regardless of the server being rsync'ed in that it is GB Ethernet running through Cisco GB switches. There appear to be no glitches or hiccups across the network path.
I've asked the folks at rsync.samba.org if they know of any problems or issues. Their response has been neutral in that if the version of rsync that cygwin has ported is within standards then there is no rsync reason this problem should happen.I've asked the cygwin support site if they know of any issues and they have yet to reply. So, my question is whether the version of rsync that is ported to cygwin is standard. If so, is there any reason cygwin & rsync keep failing like this?
I've asked the local rsync on linux guru's and they can't see any reason this should fail from a linux perspective. Apparently I am our company cygwin knowledge base by default.
I have been able to find enough information that I need to enable 'time-udp' in /etc/xinetd.d/ But there isn't an entry for time-udp. How do I enable time-udp (Time of Day server) on a Red Hat system? It's RHEL 5.6 64bit.

When I am trying to connect to this site I get an error message. I tried all browsers installed on my system. Seamonkey, Firefox, Konqueror. All failed. I have a Debian Lenny server with Bind9 (slave) Shorewall and OpenVPN on it. I also have a Win 7 client at my disposal to test the OpenVPN connection.I can make a connection with my Win 7 but when i'm connected i can only ping myself and the server's OpenVPN NIC (TUN0). The Debian server has 3 NICS. One for the servers, one for the internet and one for the clients.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have downloaded some series into my download folder. apparently i did that as root (cant remember how but ok)now i want to delete some of the folders, but i dont have acces. i tried everything. deleting it while as root, using the command line : " sudo rm -R <folder> was the closest i got and i actually succesfully removed one folder. now the problem is that it was a folder named usr, one word. but when i try to delete a folder with more words, its trying to delete all those words seperatly, like ecery word is a different folder.
