Ubuntu :: Can't Acces Some Web Pages?

I've just installed Ubuntu 9.1 amd64 and I have a problem with acces to some web pages (i.e amd.com, adobe.com). I looks like bowser load a page but then stopping it last infinitely. I have Ubuntu 9.1 x64Atheros wireless adapter connected to ZyXEL access point.Parallel Windows machine which connected to te same router has no prblem with access to those sites. I tried different browsers, different setting of DNSeven set up different versions of 9.1 (x64, x86)

I have a Cent OS 5.4 32 bit final installed in my dedicated server.
I used to run lighttpd with php in my server until now and all was fine.But yesterday I changed my website which needs apache to run. So installed apache using yum install httpd command.
Then I added the virtual host name of my domain in webmin panel but when i try to run my php script in browser then its not opening php pages.
Instead it downloads php files like index.php when i open in browser.So I guess apache is not able to compile and run php pages. Only html pages are opening right now..

I just installed a game, TripleA, that is supposed to run great on Ubuntu using JAVA. I extracted the game to the recommended folder.I have JRE already installed via Install and Remove Applications utility. Is there something else I should do? Installing JRE manually seemed a bit troublesome.Is it "safe", i.e. will the other apps that use java still work properly?

I try to set up a Ubuntu server that links 4 PC/Mac machines. How can I modify a folder property so that my linked PC can access (Create and delete) while the Mac can't or the other way around? Now, I have created a folder from Ubuntu, It lets all or none linked computers to have the same right.

I made a "test" server recently, put a samba + apache + vsftp server on it. The first 2 work but the VSFTP server is troubling me. On my lan it works. but on a wan: My ISP blocks port 21 so I changed it to 2200, my friend tried to connect earlier (With "ftp://myip:2200") and he had to type in a name and password, he did that (I made him an account)he got 425 failed to establish connection. Now I Re-installed vsftpd again, did the exact same thing and now it just wouldn't connect. saying the webpage can't be found. Question 1: What should I do to let a user acces from outside of my LAN? I think it's because of passive mode: but I have no idea what ports I should open for passive mode? My ftp port is 2200.
FileZilla tells me.

only getting with Yahoo mail, gmail is fine, also I get the same problem with chrome and with firefoxI can log in to yahoo both classic and "all new mail", but sometimes emails just doesn't load up at all (I get a blue loading bar but nothing happens), sometimes the mail will load, but I can't get attachments or send email at all. When I try to get an attachment it scans for viruses and just hangs, if I try to compose a message I also get a timer but that hangs too.

I have met following problem: there is a website I cannot access.
When I am trying to connect to this site I get an error message. I tried all browsers installed on my system. Seamonkey, Firefox, Konqueror. All failed. I don't understand this completely as I have no problem with connecting to internet. Now I am thinking that I myself somehow unintentionally blocked an access to this particular site. Is it possible? Under W$ I have no problems at all.

when booting I can only acces a broken GRUB and this is how I might have done it wrong. I installed Ubuntu the first time using dual-booting which I think is the worst way since it could be done better by using a Virtual Machine such as Parralels or VMware. Well later I noticed that after removing Ubuntu there was still 2 problems 1.when selecting a OS during startup When I select "Windows" it goes to a broken GRUB which displays something like this " Use tab to complete the first commands" GRUB><where you're suppose to type> and I can't type so I hard reboot it. 2. I could not get rid of LinuxSwap. Much later I removed LinuxSwap by booting in a Ubuntu live disk and then removing the partition as well as the Linux "/" and after booting to Mac OS X leopard disk0s1 the Mac OS X system partition was mounted which was bad since it was suppose to be invisible to even the root user unless viewed by terminal on any user.
Now later I reformatted it as "Mac OS X something extended" and at first it was unjointed and impossible to mount and after I reformatted it it appeared as disk0s3. Now the problem appeared.This is the stuff I can do1. I can type some commands in the GRUB but when I typed find / the output is something like can't find /2. I might be able to boot up a live disk however my Linux Ubuntu live disk is broken.3. this is my dad's second hand Mac G5 iSight, not mine and it was a bargain, it was cheaper than my iPad with Mac OS X Leopard 10.5#

Here is my config so far :
1. I installed Windows server 2008, with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP.
2. I installed Ubuntu 9.10 and joined it to the domain. Everything is ok. I can see the Ubuntu in the active directory, it gets an Ip address from the DHCP.
3. I create a shared folder on the server 2008.
4. I can access the server from Ubuntu ONLY by going to "Connect to Server" and entering the data to connect.
My problem :I would like to have the shared folder showing up when Ubuntu boots up or when the user is logging IN on the Ubuntu host. I have tried many things without success. I know how to do it so this is fine. BUT i would like a user to be able to access the shared folder without having to do anything (especially for users who are not familiar with computers). What is the best way to do it ?

I have a Debian Lenny server with Bind9 (slave) Shorewall and OpenVPN on it. I also have a Win 7 client at my disposal to test the OpenVPN connection.I can make a connection with my Win 7 but when i'm connected i can only ping myself and the server's OpenVPN NIC (TUN0). The Debian server has 3 NICS. One for the servers, one for the internet and one for the clients.

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this but I run ubuntu 10.04 server in virtualbox, and have samba running. I can see the files and read them in win7, but I want write access aswell!
I need to do this in terminal only, and Im not that well versed in Linux or the terminal. Anyways here is my smb.conf:

workgroup = myworkgroupname
load printers = no
[Code]...
Since "read only = no" I think i should have write permissions... and since I can read the files Im guessing the smb.conf is the problem?

i have downloaded some series into my download folder. apparently i did that as root (cant remember how but ok)now i want to delete some of the folders, but i dont have acces. i tried everything. deleting it while as root, using the command line : " sudo rm -R <folder> was the closest i got and i actually succesfully removed one folder. now the problem is that it was a folder named usr, one word. but when i try to delete a folder with more words, its trying to delete all those words seperatly, like ecery word is a different folder.

i'm trying to run some code i had written a couple of weeks ago in windows :$, the program has to create and copy some files and when i try to run this code in monodevelop this error:Unhandled Exception: System.UnauthorizedAccessException:Access to the path '/tmp' is denied.i've tried to change the path where i know i have read/write permissions but it doesn't seem to work, the code was originally written to create a file in the Temp folder in windows.

At this stage, we would not implement any encryption, so our network would be open to anyone.
Oour pc/laptop have 2 working interfaces, wlan0 and eth0. Device eth0 is the wired connection to the internet, device wlan0 is going to be set up as the wireless access point for the iPod/iPhone or similar gadget. We want to forward any IP traffic attached to wlan0 through to eth0. Interface eth0 can either obtain the IP addres from DHCP server on the router, or it can be fixed, it does not matter. But we definitelly need to set fixed IP address to wlan0, and configure dhcp server to listen on this interface.

I have 2 web server in my office : http and https. You will find attached the httpd.conf and ssl.conf. I can acces the https server from home, but not the http one.
What I did :
configure the router to forward port 80 to my fedora 11 machine
open port 80 with system-config-network
created a virtualhost
The same exact steps have been done for port 443
I can access both server locally but only the https server remotelly.

I made httpd to listen to port 8080, and done all the port forwarding/opening stuf, and it works. so is it a bug ?
Finally found my error seams like turning off UseCanonicalName to off did the trick
I really think it's a bug now. It was definitively working last week, I just added content to the main host of my website, and now i can't acces it from port 80. If someone think it's not a bug or find someting missing/wrong in my conf file.

I'm very new to Linux, and I have ran a Windows XP server before, with a Apache2 Server software for Windows. and didn't have any problems with it, but I really want to set this server up with Linux.
The server is running, but the only thing that comes up in the browser, is the html pages, the pages call all the images from a folder /images/ but for some reason I can't get it to pull the folder up. None of the graphics show on any of the pages.
I also have a VirtualHost setup, and have another website set up in the DocumentRoot with the 2nd site, but it won't come up ether, even tho it is listed as the 2nd VirtualHost, and have that folder set up as the DocumentRoot.
I'm just using IP Addresses for now till I get this all sorted out.So if I enter the IP the main page comes up, just no graphics. if I enter the IP Address/2ndSiteFolder/ I get a directory listing with the 2nd site folder listed, so now if I click on the 2ndSiteFolderName, it comes up as IP/2ndSiteFolder/2ndSiteFolder/ Now the 2nd site comes up, and so does all the Graphics for that site, even if I go to some of the other subfolders site. So its just weird. I don't know what I need to do to get this to work right.
I know it has to do with setting up the folders for VirtualHost, I just don't know what it is. I have been working on this for a week, and I'm not getting anywhere..

Maybe the most stupid question you guys ever heard, but i do not find the solution.Now that i have acces on the netbook i would like to share a folder on my desktopcomputer so i can acces it with the netbook when im in the bedroom.(moviefolder)But how do i share a folder in Fedora 15?
Username and password are the same on desktopcomputer and netbook.

I tried to make that as short and descriptive as I could. There are certain web pages that I try to visit on my Linux computer that either respond after more than a minute of waiting for a response or, more often than not, simply do not respond at all - leaving the browser "waiting for xxxxx". Yet when I try those same pages on my GF's Windows computer, connected to the same router/DSL connection, the pages load quickly and without problems. Both systems are running Firefox.. after wrestling with several problems over the past few days of switching over to a portable version of Linux 9.10 (I'm running a Live USB created using Lili USB), and deciding between the UNR or the Desktop i386 releases (I eventually went with UNR because i386 will not load on my netbook and ends up corrupting itself), I now find myself with the interesting problem that Firefox will no longer load webpages.I'm using a wireless connection, and it worked about 4 hours ago, but doesn't any longer. It registers that it is connected (The network icon displays the connected information), but the webpages themselves will not load (And I don't know if any other web based application functions- I only bothered to check firefox).
And I know the connection itself is not to blame because I'm using it right now to post this message (Off of Windows 7).Any help that can be given would be appreciated. Except for these problems that come up I'm loving Ubuntu, and intend to use it inbetween classes and such.EDIT:No internet applications work, and the router does assign me an IP address while in Ubuntu. Also, the speed of the "Server not found" message indicates that it's not even trying to connect.

At the moment I regularly use Image Magick convert command to convert PDF's to images which is great but I would like to only convert some of the pages in the PDF instead of them all. Im sure the function must be available I just haven't been able to find it even after bashing google for a few days.

I am a web developer and fonts are crucial to my job.All i want is firefox to render the fonts just like if im on a windows machine, is this possible?For example i install tahoma and microsoft core fonts but in the FF they're not appearing right. I know this is off Ubuntu topic, but, imo, Ubuntu is the best forum for answers on the internet.Anyone using one of these online editors ?I use it as integrated into a CMS, but would like to build it into some web pages - with sole purpose of EDITING MY WEBPAGES ONLINE. Kompozer is great, but has a mack truck hole that may never get filled and I find the (usage) simplicity of ckedit attractive.Problem is I am not able to grasp how to do it.The examples are gobbledeegook to me. I mean i try them, they work, but do not address how to integrate (maybe just over my head).Installation and usage is trivial, I just cannot grasp how (if possible) to integratethe editor INTO a webpage - better yet, direct it to a webpage.

Pages do not load on certain sites (such as LinkedIn and Which? for example). The sites themselves load but when I click on links the pages load forever. With Which? I can close FF and open it again and then the link loads but after a few clicks they stop loading. It happens on all browsers (at least I tried FF and Chromium) but OK on Windows.
