I tried the opposite mv -n /user/local/bin /desktop in the hopes of undoing it but now only one of those directories will exist at one time. What should I do? How badly did I screw things up?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had bad experience with disk checking in windows. Boot checker just moved all more and more of my files to a hidden folder without me knowing. I lost a lot of photos due to this. Afterwards when I checked that folder I found that most of the files were intact and I was able to open them without a problem. How dumb is that a program moves files without your permition to do so So I'm wondering what happens with files on Ubuntu if they get corrupted or are suspected as corrupted? And how can I know if the automatic checking procedure that runs when booting found any corrupted files, bad sectors etc... ?

The biggest problem for me is user management and passwords.
Till know my email server use passwords from system users /etc/passwd. I would like to have a server where user which doesnt have an access to console can change the password in webmail panel (RoundCube, SquirrelMail)

I can't access webmail and POP3 from internet. Seems because connection from internet can't directly to Domino through Firewall. -Squirrelmail-1.4.2.tar.gz and unzipped under the folder /var/www/html
-cd squirrelmail-1.4.2
-cd config
-within this directory, ./conf.pl
-From main menu, I did choose 2 for domain (i.e. arafapparels.com). This is my official domain
-Then save and exit
-For IMAP setting, I did choose D
-Selected uw and save, then exit
-Then from command line, I wrote chown �R apache.apache /var/www/html/data (I created folder data in the above path)
-I created a folder named as attach to keep attachment in /var/www/html i.e. /var/www/html/attach
-Then typed grep �R apache /var/www/html/attach
-Then typed chmod 730 /var/www/html/mail/attach (Here squirrelmail-1.4.2 directory has been moved to mail directory)
-Then from web browser/Internet explorer, I typed http://localhost/mail/
-Here Username & Password appears. Previously I have created username.
-But when put Username & Password, below error message displays
Error connecting to IMAP server: localhost
13: Permission denied
But I gave permission by chmod 777 /var/www/html/mail and by using 555 but no result.
Did a basic mistake . Dnt know how to recover .In root user i gave a commandmv / /home/username/except the home directory all the other folders that is /sbin /lib /optetc was moved to /home/username.Now i am unable to execute any command.I also tried to set the PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH to the newly copied localtion but none of the command works. Since "mv" command also not working i am unable to change the location.

I have recently moved. I was on a comcast Internet system and had the Server working there. I have moved to where I am on a different server. I have been issued a static IP address. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running Ubuntu 9.10 AMD64 with KVM and several VMs running the same OS. Everything was running fine and the VMs were using the host's network via bridging. The decision was made to move the server to completely different network. I shut it down, the system was moved and hooked up, and I got it up on the new network pretty easily--just modified /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/resolv.conf. No networking problems at all.
Then I fired up virt-manager, powered up one of the VMs, and made the same kinds of changes. It's not talking beyond the VM server. I can ping the host, but can't ping the gateway. "tcpdump -i eth0" shows plenty of traffic.
Deleted. I tried to delete the entire posting, but could only edit.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter what feels like weeks have tinkering around trying to get a Samba file server set up, I've finally given up! I have 4 drives and 2 groups:
1) Dev - Available to all users in both groups (normal and admin)
2) Misc - Available to users in admin group only
3) Admin - Available to users in admin group only
4) Accounts - Available to users in admin group only
Drives 1 and 2 are working fine, with the correct access rights. Drives 3 and 4 can be browsed by admins only, but no changes can be made at all - files & directories can't be renamed/moved/deleted. What is most confusing is that Drive 2 is set up exactly the same as Drives 3 and 4. The process I went through to get them working:

I have a problem increasing the max. attachment size in horde. As far as I know I've to set some variables:

How can the /etc/procmailrc be used to deliver mail to the user's Maildir with the correct permissions so that the user can read their mail without a .procmailrc file of their own?
My setup is local install so I don't expect it to receive emails from the internet.However I do expect it to be able send messages to the internet, but it doesn't seem like it.
