i am using RHEL5 at VirtualBox,at the time of installation i did create two partition one for / and another for swap.Now my /var directory is taking too much space and i decided to create a new partition with required size and mount that partition to /var.Now http service wont start and i did not reboot yet.

Just completed the upgrade to 10.04 from 8.04, and ironing out the wrinkles. Since the upgrade, I'm not able to establish a VPN connection to my institute (a problem since outgoing mail REQUIRES a VPN connection) The pull down menu shows the connection as an option, but clicking on it brings up a separate window that simply says "The VPN connection CfA failed because the VPN Service failed to start." Never had this issue under Hardy, so not sure what's going on. Under "Configure VPN" the settings look the same as they always did.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have setup a CentOS 5.5 server as a DHCP server. That will be it's only task in a Cisco callmanger VoIP environment The DHCP server that comes with CentOS 5.5 is from ISC V3.0.5 -redhat.
The server (HP DL360) has two physical NIC's of which only NIC1 is used (ETH0)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running a debian squeeze server, and have autofs 5.0.4 installed. One of my scripts (autofs executable files) is trying to mount some of my LAN hosts.The host mount fine at start, but when unmounted automatically, it will not mount again. (At least unless I wait for 2-3 minutes).The problem is, maybe, that I get these messages in the log:
add_host_addrs: hostname lookup failed: Name or service not known
mount(nfs): no hosts available
failed to mount {myshare}
If I wait a couple of minutes, the share is mounting fine, but that is not an option.The mount command issued by my script is mounting just fine on the command line after all these error messages, but autofs seems to have a problem with it anyhow.I have searched all over the web trying to get a reasonable explanation to any of these messages without luck.I don't think that I can upgrade automount, since this is an embedded device (SheevaPlug), so what is my options?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am in the task of migrating old linux to new linux which centos 5.5. while moving out all apps ,data etc.I need to configure SSL in apache.I have installed mod_ssl with apache 2.2. i went though some docs to configure with certificate that I have . Not sure how to start the service in 2.2. The apache/SSL was configured in my old server which apachectl. SO after importing certificatr , I do ./apachectl startssl to take in effect. In my new server , the http service is /etc/init.d/httpd, not sure how to start SSL service in centos 5.5.

I made some changes to apache (creating some new virtual sites) and since then Nagios gives me a warning message for HTTP with the message, HTTP WARNING: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found. The sites that I created are working perfectly. I noticed that the attemps are 4/4. Does this need to be reset or does Nagios automatically reset that once it detects the issue is resolved?

I know similar questions have been asked but I could find an answer to my exact question. Especially in anything like laymans terms. So when I try to start my iMac G4 running linux it starts, runs lines of code, flashes black then back to code several times then "Failed to start the X server.... output to diagnose the problem..." When I click yes here is what I get:
"Caught signal 11. Sever aborting.
In the mean time codes like the following appear on the side of the screen :

What do I do?

I have SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 running on HP Mini 2133. It's been working like a dream since I got it, but one day I got the following error message when booting it: Failed to start the X server (your graphical interface). It is likely that it is not set up correctly. Would you like to view the X server output to diagnose problem? <Yes> <No>.
X server output says alot of things, but I think this is the most important:
