Server :: Error Using Auto Install ?

I am using Mandriva 2010.2 in my server side and in my client side..... When i try to boot one of my clients through ethernet through server it is working and it is booting... After loading vmlinuz and all.rdz it is indicating an error...
Below given is the configuration file for pxelinux.cfg/default
When i remove the line/phrase kickstart=images/auto_inst.cfg.pl, my linux is loading successfully from server and we can get the installation steps/procedure manually... But i am trying for an auto install procedure....

I have just tried to mount my floppy with: mount -t auto -o uid=1000,gid=100 /dev/fd0 /media/floppy and get for response : cannot execute command '' mount -t auto -o uid=1000,gid=100 /dev/fd0 /media/floppy error 127
What is supposed to be done to get my floppy mounted?

How can i auto install ubuntu 9.10 server, like in Suse you can install and save your installtation in a autoinst.xml file and user that file the next time you install without any input from a user. Is this possible with ubuntu?

I used to have a log file monitoring script on my server but after an auto update recently it seems to have disapperaed.Can anyone think of some log file analyzers that send outputs of ssh, amount of disk space used etc. as I cannot remember the name of the program at all.

I setting up a web server on my Linux (Centos) using "Apache" web server. And its working well, it will show my websites. But when i try to put my url in a internet browser (ie. only type "myweb.com" ) is only be [URL]. Usually as i know like the other websites (ie. google.com) it will go to auto replace the name be [URL]. But my url here it's not be replacing like that. How to do this configuration. I don't know where the services that i need to look. (ie; named (bind) or in Apache web server it self)?

I'm just setting up my first home server with ubuntu and I would like the box to suspend to ram when no one is accessing it for a while (let's say for 1 hour)The wake up task is already done and is working fine so far; but how can I put the machine to sleep automatically?I guess I have to watch for network-traffic but have no clue how to do it.

I'm working on embedded debian. I do configuration to lightdm for autologin. My device start with autologin but sometimes I see login screen. ı will try it more than 20 times. 17 times its do autologin 3 times not do autologin and show login screen.

Just installed Slackware 13 this morning. It's been a long time since I last tried Linux, but Slack works (a lot easier than Slack 8 did back when I last used it!) quite well. I'm using the XFCE desktop and it's smooth as silk except for one odd problem-I cannot get any of my USB drives to mount. I just plugged in my Lexar 4GB USB flash drive and received an error message. Here's from /var/log/messages from when I initally plugged in the drive (I have a 500GB WD MyBook USB external drive that is always plugged in):
Any ideas or suggestions of what to look at? I'm not familiar with HAL in Linux although I've seen plenty of discussion about it and have an idea of what it's supposed to (or break! ).

I have a remote server running Fedore Core 11 - 32bit. On a new install, I installed webmin (control panel). Now every time I want to install something I get the same error message:

Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again.

I installed BIND 9.7.3 from source on Centos 5.5, and chrooted it, and I'm getting an error when I run 'service named status' I get a reply, but at the end it says 'named dead but pid file exists'
Here's the entire output:
[root@ns etc]# service named status

I am trying to install NVIDIA graphics drivers. I can execute the .run but it comes up with an error the X Server is in use and needs to be closed.
I have tried to run
Ctrl Alt Backspace
and
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
But the terminal requests the root password and I can not enter anything for the password in the line. If I go to the next line and enter anything the password fails.

I intend to install cryus-sasl, procmail and sendmail for my school. After I've finished the install of cyrus-sasl and procmail, I try to install sendmail. I have config the required setting of sendmail which let it support cryus-sasl in the file sendmail/devtools/Site/site.config.m4, then I build the main program of the sendmail and created the related user account and directories. It doesn't has any error. But when I try to build the program "makemap" and "mailstats", it has the similar error which said that there are an unrecognized option '-R/usr/local/ssl/lib' and can't find -lphclient. Here are the dump screen after I type the command "sh Build install" in the directory of program "makemap":

I am trying to configure Red Hat ES to automatically start WebSphere Application Server (WAS) automatically upon boot after DB2 services (which already start on boot) are loaded to avoid WAS errors. Note that WAS runs under the jvm so there are processes named WAS or WebSphere when it is running.
My question is, do any of you know a way to setup Linux to automatically start WAS after DB2 services have been successfully started? The web apps running under WAS will have errors if DB2 is not up and running when WAS starts up. I think a 30 - 60 min delay between startup of DB2 and startup of WAS would work perfectly. I am not sure which config file would need to be updated with the call to command to start WAS (I have the command, just don't know where to put it) nor do I know how to ensure DB2 is running before WAS starts in a config file. Right now, I have DB2 loading on boot and WAS starting after I login to xterm.

I recently installed 32bit maverick and wanted to make it login automatically. I tried enabling auto login from Admin > Login but that didnt work and I was still prompted for my password. Then I went to Users & Groups and changed the password option to Do Not ask for password at login now after I reboot, the user list is shown (only 1 user) and it doesnt ask for password after I click on my username.
However, then it gives a few errors (as i vaguely recall):
1. cannot load .ICE directory in my home directory
2. some error 256 about a gconf-sanity-2 file
3. nautilus cannot load my home directory etc
and then it gets stuck without loading anything (blank wallpaper). i ve tried navigating to my home directory using Alt F2, gksudo nautilus and my home dir contents are encrypted by the ecryptfs (there is a readme.txt file and a shortcut). i have tried to decrypt but it doesnt work... i ve also tried to start/stop gdm, and startx but nothing works. if i stop gdm, then the prompt doesnt recognize my password and keeps on rejecting the commands i enter... I think this has something to do with the home dir not being decrypted due to the dont ask for paswd option... how can i disable the dont ask for pwd without the gui (i can access my / by booting through an external usb).

I have noticed that a common issue to several distros is the fact that the networking subsystem doesn't automatically detect the link if an ethernet connection is disconnected and then re-connected to the NIC after boot. If the ethernet cable is connected after the system is up and running, nothing happens - ethtool eth0 shows link detected: no, and you have to restart the network service to let the NIC know that there is in fact a link, and actually connect. I have a Fedora14 (KDE) box with a brand new Asus motherboard with embedded NIC. Everything works great except the auto-detect of a freshly connected ethernet connection if the link is down to begin with.
Am I missing a ethernet link sentinel utility or something, or is this just the way linux works? I have done plenty of research on plenty of posts, and it seems this is a common problem, with no solution other than manually or programatically restarting the network service in a script to detect the link after a disconnect.

I press On-button, Debian boots, logs in and automatically connects to the Wireless network AND! to my local pc via LAN. It runs an ssh server, so I can ssh into debian over internet and communicate with the local pc (send a magic packet).Here are my problems:
1) I don't how to log in automatically. This and this doesn't work.
2) I need a network tool that can manage multiple connections and has a reconnect feature. With the default network manager I cannot even connect to more than one network simultaneously although I have two network devices of course.
And I guess I can run all that in console mode, right?

I would like to exec a script whenever a user mount a device. The device could be an internal device (for example a partition on a second hard disk) or a removable one (for example a usb hard disk). The script must have sudo capabilities even if the user is not included in the admin group. Is it possible?
The specific question:
I would like to add acl option to a device whenever it is mounted.
I tried fstab but it's changing the behaviour of nautilus see:
[URL]... so I would like to create a script with the command

I recently installed a server with Software RAID. I tested by powering it down, unplugging one drive and powering it up. Magically, it worked!I found out later that I have to manually add individual devices like md1 to sda2 md2 to sda4. I got all of them added and rebuilt but my question is: Is there a way to make it so that if I "removed" a drive and put it back, the system will senses the new drive and rebuilds based on some internal table?
