We have a server that needs to be hi availablility.
The problem is, sometimes our internet winks out for a few minutes.
We decided that we wanted to get two seperate lines to our server, and so they would be two different ip addresses.
What out there would allow us to serve apache on www.mywebsite.com on more than one ip, and, if we can, do load balancing?
I am having static html pages and want to embed some flash videos in them.I have installed Red5 on my server after this what do I do so that I can serve them using Red5.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI came across this while trying to find a solution for my load-balancing clustering issue in another thread. Since I perceive this as something on its own, I decided to post a new thread. I came across this site to setup a two-server cluster using Conga - Luci and Ricci.
From my understanding, this is what was done:-
1. Both servers have luci running using a shared storage via GFS to provide a failover
2. Both (and same) servers have ricci agent running for the clustering
I'm aware that Conga clustering aim to achieve High-Availability.
1. Can it also achieve Load-Balancing?
2. If yes, would the guide from the link above be sufficient or would they be additional setup/pre-req to be done? Since I'm new to this area and there was no mention of load-balancing, I'm still wondering if this is what I need to incorporate.
I seem to be having a strange problem configuring Piranha to load balance (Direct route) 2 ports across 2 w2k3 servers in a test environment. What is strange is that 1 of the ports are working fine but the other port doesn't work. I've read many how-to and after many frustrating hours I disabled the firewall, iptables and arptables services and one of the ports are load balanced across the 2 real servers. Here's the environment.

I can telnet from the client to the realserves on both ports and it's works. When I telnet to the VIP only one port gets through and the other gives me "could not open connection to host port 32777 : connect failed. The configuration in Piranha for one port is the same as the other. I can't help but think that some other configuration for port 32777 was missed.
I'm trying to do a implementation of load-balance with fail-over system using (ip route2 + netfilter), anyway after spent many time on it, I can't do it on my own, I think I'm so close about the solution anyway after check each line 30 times I'm really lost on IT.

I have two Red Hat entreprise Linux 5 servers running the same applications, my goal is to load balance the incoming traffic between these two servers without adding an additional hardware as load balancer, the incoming traffic is basically Web traffic and on the servers, Apache and PHP are running. Red Hat solutions that I found are:
1- LVS
2- Piranha
3- Red Hat cluster suite.
Can LVS run on one of the real servers (or both servers, for redundancy issues) and load balance the traffic between its server and the other one? If yes, will LVS has a big impact on the CPU/memory usage? How can I estimate this usage if I know how much traffic is coming and the HW specs?

I used both pound and nginx as load balancers. With pound I had issues with SSL websites so I moved to nginx. With nginx I have the problem that it does not load balance equally between the backend servers.
I remember hearing something about another load balancing web server but I forgot its name.
Does anyone know other alternatives to nginx/pound?
My problem is that I would like to load balance or aggregate 2 separate Internet connections on my laptop. Currently a hard line ISP is not available so I'm using an Sierra Wireless 885 USB air card. Thing is the card is quite slow. I also can tether an iPhone to the laptop. The ideal solution would be to have both connections being utilized to help speed up the overall experience, even if it is only a modest gain in speed.
as I do not know much about iptables and basic TCP/IP routing, I'm finding it difficult to implement those solutions. If someone can point me in the right direction ( a slightly dumb down how:to? or better explained? )
BTW, both phone and aircard get dynamic IP's. Running Ubuntu 10.4
I have a media server with all my music and movies on it. Right now I have mediatomb on it serving up files to my ps3. They are on the same LAN. Is there a way to accomplish the same thing, but have them on different networks? Can I tell the ps3 to search an external IP addres on port 2222 to look for a media server?If that won't work (I doubt it will), is there another way to do this? I am moving to Germany in 5 months for work and I Won't be able to bring my media server with me. I'm taking a bunch of stuff to my parent's to avoid rent and all....So I could just hook the server up to the router, set it to forward a port and have access to it.

My webserver accesses a backend mySQL server using CentOS5
The last week, I have been getting a "page Load Error" on my web server whilst others told me they are getting a "broken link" error when they try to access my web site. It has been working fine for the last 12 months until last week.
ADSL, modem and router okay according to service provider (verizon)
I can ping my IP address and my domain name.
# netstat -tap
shows http and https both processes running.
# service httpd restart
no issues
I shut down firewall and tried again, but got the same "page load error".
I have just made a change in my internet setup. I basically connected another router to the existing one and everything appeared to work fine until I went to a bookmark with www in the address and no, it does not connect. Trying some other pages and it really is the www that screws it up: For instance URL... does not work whereas URL...does. What is wrong??I could go back to the old setting but obviously i have a reason for the second router which is setting up a small network for printer and file sharing.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe issue I'm having is that browsers in Ubuntu 10.04 stall at the part of the process for loading web pages that is noted by the "Looking Up (website address)...". The page eventually continues to load, but it takes a long time. This problem effects all browsers on the machine (tried Firefox and Chromium). It is not a problem with the connection, because a Windows 7 laptop and even the Windows XP partition on the Ubuntu machine function as they should.

View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since switching to openSUSE 11.1, I have been having problems with certain websites (using the version of Firefox that came with openSUSE 11.1). Some website's CSS code won't load until repeated reloads - for example, wachovia.com. I'll visit the website and it will be all distorted because the stylesheets did not load, and I will have to refresh a number of times before it becomes usable. Other website's images won't load until multiple refreshes, like facebook.
Is this an openSUSE issue? An openSUSE interaction with Firefox issue? I've never had this problem on XP or Ubuntu.
For some time now it's not loading properly, just get a big blue screen with a title bar. This is using 10.04 64bit with Firefox 3.6.15.I think it's since I upgraded to 10.04.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIm running drupal on my webserver and, this morning all of the sudden I went to edit a node and now I cant load the website in my browser at all. I can ping the machine and SSH into it fine, but it will not load the website in chrome or IE, I have no idea whats going on here.
Edit: I did a 'service httpd restart', it took 3mins to restart, is this normal? After I did that it loaded once, not even all of the page, now its doing the same thing again.
Edit2: Now it seems to be working fine again...
Does Ubuntu Server 10.04 give me a good/easy way to upload music, photos, and videos and automatically have them available to a TiVo, a PlayStation 3, and Macs/PCs running iTunes on the network?I'd additionally like it to be able to transcode the videos into formats that the PS3 can handle.

I have not installed anything for the wireless card.
I have tested my speeds from here [url] and I know that I am getting around 7000kb down.
I have gone into firefox to about:config and set network.dns.disableIPv6 to true... but everything is slow.
