View 1 RepliesAfter untarring the file and executing the binary for firefox, the following error is coming "brilliant:/firefox # ./firefox ./firefox-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory". The libpangocairo-1.0.so.0 is there in /usr/lib.. I guess this is because the SuSE is 64 bit and the software Im trying to install is 32 bit.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI know openSUSE (and SUSE Enterprise) work great with windows Active Directory. Now, I understand that Linux systems are far more stable and secure (if configured properly). What about features though? What does openSUSE/Linux have instead of AD for file/folder sharing across the network? Are there roaming profiles? If so, how do I use that?I love openSUSE because of yast (and a few other things). And It's my main LinuxOS on my tower. I am still in college getting my certs and a degree (in networking). I really want to understand why Linux (openSUSE/ SUSE enterprise) is a better networking solution as opposed to Windows Sever 2003/2008.Also, why SUSE over RHEL/CentOS? Yast is awesome, but are there other reasons?
I know that's a lot to ask in one post. Feel free to include links so you won't have to type too much.I'd like both personal opinions, hard facts, and just general user experiences as to the features that make Linux (openSUSE) better, not just the stability and security.
I'm wondering why everytime I install "recomended" updates, my KDE or X server crashes completely! is there any guide or advice you can give me to succesfully update only the packages that are really needed?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis issue was prompted by Groupwise MTA not communicating with a Post Office that I had migrated to our first Linux box. I found out why, because I cannot communicate with it at all, other than through ethernet. I'm not sure what the problem is. I've checked the firewall and opened up all the ports that I'm trying to communicate on.ve made sure Apache is loaded

for any reason after installation system hangs up and nothing happens, im newbie about linux, maybe the problem is the RAID 1 configuration of the disks. The machine is a R710 Server:

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running memory test on SUSE, Memory test is just writing some patterns into a memory and reading it back in all CPU threads. After a while, when memory test is running in the background , I am trying to reset the system by echo b> /proc/sysrq-trigger command, Upon SUSE warm reset , I am seeing some UNCORRECTABLE MEMORY ERROR in model specific register (MSR : 0x421),

Like so many Linux users I would like to load it on an older Windows XP box without DVD drive. Haven't seen this release offered on CD's. I've been able to copy it via network to a file on the box, but have no idea which files belong on which CD - I assume it will take 7 or 8 disks like many of the older releases. Don't want to buy a DVD drive for the old box .

What command is used to install applications in openSuSE terminal?
I mean something like 'sudo apt-get install ...' in Ubuntu or 'yum install ...' in Fedora.
I've tried installing Graphite One under my new clean Suse 11.4 64-bit installation. graphite one apparently needs python 2.6 to install and suse 11.4 comes with 2.7. I hope I can just create symbolic links to satisfy the installer to run? I've tried to make 2.6 links under /usr/bin and /usr/lib64. I'm using
Code:
sudo ln -s libpython2.7.so.1.0 libpython2.6.so.1.0
to create the links, but I've sort of lost track of all the python librarys (.so .so.1 .so.1.0 and so on). Furthermore I have no idea about how to verify if it is correct.
Code:
ls -l /usr/bin/python*
