i have setup a dhcp server using opensuse11 where i have a static internet connection for eth1 with ip is 172.x.x.x & getway 172.x.x.1 dns1 & dns2. now i have configure my eth0 as dhcp server with ip 192.168.10.1. & range 200-220. now server is working when i am connecting from host, it is reachable to both the ethernet on server but not able to access the getway of eth1 i.e. 172.x.x.1 nor able to acess internet.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running the latest suse release downloaded directly from their website. I ran the installation after buring the dvd and everything seemed to be working fine. after the installation i ran updates and used it for a little bit. When i shut it down that night and went to restart it I got an error that stated the OS wasnt there. I then went through the installation and everything and it retained the information from the installation before (web history etc.) but for some reason every time I reboot or shut it down the system is not able to read the startup information from the hard drive and will not come on without me re installing it.

I have my hard drive partitioned 40GB for boot and 540 for media. When installing fedora I chose the option to replace the existing linux installation. By not clicking the option "use whole drive" I thought I would easily still be able to acess my media drive (which has a LOT of media on it) I dont know if I chose the right options. Anyways, the partion table has been changed. I know the data is still their, the media partition was at the end of drive, and im guessing fedora installs on the beginning of the drive, so I am hoping none of my data was written over, but I have no idea. Every othe linux Install I have done, I have still been able to acess my media partition, but on those installatons I was sure I was doing it right, but on the fdora installation
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a fresh Arch Linux install and one of the first things i did was inastall X.Org and Pekwm. I boot into runlevel 5 with Xdm. The problem is once X is running I can no longer acess terminals via CTL-MOD-FN(1-7). I am not using a graphics card so I doubt that its a driver issue and have the same result after I boot into runlevel 3 and use Startx. The only thing on the screen if I try to change tty's is a mesage from my monitor saying "Frequency Out of Range"

The website (search "ohio state mechanical engineering vpn" in google = top non sponsored link result) says that this address must be entered in Windows Explorer; however, I am using Ubuntu 9.04, so I cannot use Windows Explorer (with the exception of WINE). I tried using the "connect to server" program listed under "Places", but have not had any luck. I also think the computers in the lab I'm trying to connect to are not using Samba. Any ideas on how I might connect to this location?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't think it has anything to do with the config file.More to do with SElinux. I need to know how to configure SElinux so I can see my samba share when SELinuxis on. When I setenforce 0 I can seen all the files and folders set it to setenforce 1 cannot see anything.Here is the output when I ran [root@fileserver /]# getsebool -a | grep smballow_smbd_anon_write --> onsmbd_disable_trans --> onThese two options were off I tried turning them on.This is another one of the commands I tried running. I did change a few options but I am not sure which I do need to change. I am running a stand alone server so I don't need the DC option.

Right now by default iam logged in with my account and i want to access some files/folders in my machine, but iam unable to access(also no copy/paste) those because iam not logged in as root user. So is there a way to gain root access over those files/folders in Ubuntu. I know i can do su in command prompt and change the permissions but what is the other way to gain root access.

I got my head around the software repo's and got all my drivers working but I just can't work out how to get sound on firefox. Videos play fine (that was my problem with Mandriva) and the sound works everywhere else (Amorak,desktop sounds, etc) but firefox is silent (not just flash stuff). I've installed flash, java, mplayer and Gstreamer (but I had to change the vendor options). Am I missing some magic plugin or am i being incredibly stupid and there is some kind of "sound on" button I've missed? I've been searching for an answer all afternoon with no success. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm unable to acces the internet trough my browsers in Suse 11.3, my router assigns me a IP and I'm able to use Skype and Transmission but not my browsers; Firefox and Opera. I've been using the network at school today, there we have manually set our own IPs but now I'm back home and back to using DHCP. And yes, i have set the ipv4 back from "manually" to DHCP.
This is really confusing, I'm currently writing from my Arch install on the same computer. This works fine. The ifconfig output in both Suse and Arch is the exact same:

It seems that every time I run a KDE based distro, I have trouble connecting. I've done everything I can think of (which wasn't much): I've run the YaST and tried setting it up that way. I disabled the Firewall and have Security Settings set to Networked Workstation. My system can be accessed from an other machine via PuTTY... When I plug in my ethernet cable to the LAN adapter of the motherboard nothing happens. In the network manager it doesn't even acknowledge something has been connected (ie no eth0 or anything). I'm guessing that I don'tave a driver for it installed under linux. The adapter is the Marvell Yukon 8059 (88E8059 I think)

i have configured the network as far as i can but when i click into samba shares and my home network comes up i click into the home network and the the available computers and printers are shown but when i click to open a site it just shows 0 files i have tried to share all files within my encrypted network but im still not doing something right. the same sites show up and all files are shared on my Windows computers and printerswhat am i missing or doing wrong? im using open suse 11.3 and KDE and Samba Shares.
