My external storage failed and 1 file system related was damaged. When booting OS, it stops on fsck with the damaged file system. Thus the OS will never be up and running, no matter how long I wait. My question is, how to skip the fsck on the damaged file system? Since OS can not be booted up, I have no chance to change /etc/fstab. I just want to boot up the OS and remove the damaged file system manually.

I have created a 250 gb partition GWMAIL in the extended partition to be the disk space for the first virtual machine OES sp1 with groupwise 8.0. I have downloaded the OS .iso's to the desktop of the host server to use for installation. When I begin to install, it hangs for 5 to 10 minutes then gives me an out of space error.

I started with Debian Lenny 5.0.3 i386 for both the systems. Since I found it a little hard for a beginner like me to make things work on Debian and also since I did not get 64bit version, I switched over to OpenSUSE 11.2. At present I am duel booting my desktop with OpenSUSE 11.2 i586 and MS Windows XP Pro/SP2 and my laptop runs only OpenSUSE 11.2 x86_64.
I want to know which is the best NTP server to use. Also I would like to know how I can configure my KDE desktop to look and behave like Mac OS or MS windows XP. Are help files available for KDE?
I have implimented SugarCRM on a SUSE 10 box . Every thing goes ok but in the SugarCRM ,it's saying :

Everything is working great except the SSH server.Once I installed ssh, it appears to accept my connection, allows me to log in, and then freezes Putty, not allowing me to type anything into the terminal.If I wait several minutes, I'll get a message saying that the connection was closed. After that, the server won't accept connections.Sometimes it'll start accepting connections again, but after a while, the connection will close on its own. Other times, I will be unable to get a connection until I restart the server.If you guys needs any more information, please let me know. What could be causing this odd behavior?

I've got several language multimedia CD-Rom's, made for Windows 95/98/98 SE and 2000, that I'm using by means of my daughter's old PC (Win 98 SE O.S.). However I noticed, also, that you can perfectly use them even with Windows Vista. What I'd like to know is if you can use them even with Suse/Novell and (why not?) OpenSuse Linux.

I configured the device on XP following instruction from this forum and the AP configured perfectly.The AP is plugged directly into the network port on the computer. It *should* function correctly without a router. I tried a restart and Suse has no idea it's there. The computer is currently configured for a wired connection which needs to be changed. View 4 Replies View RelatedI've pre-partitioned my HDD and want to install 11.2 on the second primary partition.However, when using the installer, I can't get Suse to install on the prepared 20gb partition - it keeps insisting it wants to install on the large unallocated section of the drive.
I find the partitioner somewhat hard to use and the answer may be staring me in the face but I can't see it.
I tried to use different version of Python, and followed the Readme like this

View 2 Replies View RelatedNew Suse 11.3 installation with Gnome desktop. Added K3B using Yast2, and after completing the install of K3B, there is no icon for K3B! Instead there is an "X" and the text for K3B in it.From the main menu -> more applications -> multimedia, is where the K3B icon is.Yast2 is supposed to install any dependencies needed or warn if it can not find any missing dependencies. What is missing, or is it a permission problem? All the other application icons seem fine.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to see if I can swap out our 150+ Novell Suse Linux Enterprise Server for CentOS. From my initial thoughts I can. I am however running into an issue with the firstboot. Currently, we use firstboot on Suse with our base image. We created an image which we deploy and then firstboot runs our necessary scripts to configure the networking and office specific settings. I want to test this out but when I search for the firstboot.xml file I can't find it. I need to modify the config file and change the way the firstboot runs. Is this possible with CentOS?
I am also wondering if anyone is using Novell ZenWorks Linux Management to manage their CentOS instances or if you are using something else I would like to hear what tool you're using. I would need the ability to deploy patch/ security updates and make occasionally changes to files, not very often though.
Just a brief run down of what the server(s) will be doing. Their primary purpose is to provide caching via squid and the use of the browser for new hires until they get their notebooks. The browser runs Java and flash and the ability to print is also necessary. Pretty basic stuff so I am looking at CentOS cause the forums look very active!
I have been searching for 2 days and cannot find an answer. Apparently Sax2 isn't available in 11.3. It looks as if many are having the same difficulty. I've tried xrandr and tried to edit /etc/X11/Xorg.conf with no success.Copying a working xorg conf file might be a fix, I don't know.

USB DISK icon on visible on Desktop. mounted on /media/USB DISK Clicking on device properties it is read only. I can change permissions but that is only temporary. Looking under my computer it is formated as vfat device name is /dev/sdb
I can't copy any files to it. Can't see in terminal even being root as well. Almost started the Partitioner in Yast but didn't want to accidently crash the system. That WOULD be my luck Can't find a way to format it via GUI interface. Can I use something like fdisk in terminal. I guess I need to format it as ext3.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect to my network. I am dual-booting with windows 7 ultimate and that connects just fine. When I plug in my ethernet cable to the LAN adapter of the motherboard nothing happens. In the network manager it doesn't even acknowledge something has been connected (ie no eth0 or anything). I'm guessing that I don'tave a driver for it installed under linux. The adapter is the Marvell Yukon 8059 (88E8059 I think)
