SUSE / Novell :: K3B Icon Missing In Panel - Suse 11.3

Jul 19, 2010

New Suse 11.3 installation with Gnome desktop. Added K3B using Yast2, and after completing the install of K3B, there is no icon for K3B! Instead there is an "X" and the text for K3B in it.From the main menu -> more applications -> multimedia, is where the K3B icon is.Yast2 is supposed to install any dependencies needed or warn if it can not find any missing dependencies. What is missing, or is it a permission problem? All the other application icons seem fine.

Ubuntu :: Accidently Removed Gnome And No Available Internet Connection?

Jun 24, 2011

emoving some applications/libraries in synaptics and accidentally removed gnome-core.I am on a wpa2 hidden wireless network, and getting that up and running through the terminal in recovery mode has been killer, I've searched about half a dozen threads and nothing is seeming to work.My wired like is pretty far away and I really do not want to keep moving my desktop all over the house.When in the terminal i type apt-get install gnome-core it tells me I need to download 11 new packages, of course it fails because theres no connection. Is there any way I could use a command to compile a list packages I need to reinstall gnome-core, manually retrieve them from the ftp.us.debian.org, save them to eternal media and install them with dpkg -i *.deb?

SUSE / Novell :: Multimedia CD-Rom Made For Windows 95/98/98 SE And 2000 Are Usable With Suse?

I've got several language multimedia CD-Rom's, made for Windows 95/98/98 SE and 2000, that I'm using by means of my daughter's old PC (Win 98 SE O.S.). However I noticed, also, that you can perfectly use them even with Windows Vista. What I'd like to know is if you can use them even with Suse/Novell and (why not?) OpenSuse Linux.

SUSE / Novell :: Install A D-Link Access Point On Suse 11.0?

Sep 16, 2010

how to install a D-Link Access Point on Suse 11.0 or steer me toward documentation that will do that? I configured the device on XP following instruction from this forum and the AP configured perfectly.The AP is plugged directly into the network port on the computer. It *should* function correctly without a router. I tried a restart and Suse has no idea it's there. The computer is currently configured for a wired connection which needs to be changed. The computer itself is going to be used as a small home storage server.

Ubuntu :: Removed Shutdown And Instant Messaging Status From Panel?

Dec 7, 2010

I booted up my laptop as usual and found that when I opened Empathy IM Client it would not allow me to login when I changed the status to Online (or equivalent). Normally as soon as I open the client the Messaging Status can be changed in the top right next to the clock so I tried to remove it but unfortunately it took the shut down panel with it.

To try and bring them back I used the restore panel commands in terminal:

Code:

$ gconftool-2 --shutdown
$ rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/panel
$ pkill gnome-panel

Unfortunately the panels all reloaded, but without any change.

1. How can I restore the shut down and messaging section to the top panel (as is in the default)?

2. How can I get instant messaging to work again?

PS. I'm a Ubuntu noob, only installed it about 2 days ago. Thus I may need some very basic instructions to anything complicated.

EDIT: I just found the panel section was called the Indicator Applet, but now it's in the wrong place...
