View 6 RepliesNew Suse 11.3 installation with Gnome desktop. Added K3B using Yast2, and after completing the install of K3B, there is no icon for K3B! Instead there is an "X" and the text for K3B in it.From the main menu -> more applications -> multimedia, is where the K3B icon is.Yast2 is supposed to install any dependencies needed or warn if it can not find any missing dependencies. What is missing, or is it a permission problem? All the other application icons seem fine.

I can use Add to Panel to get a clock back, but it doesnt have the other things that were attached to the default one =S
View 3 Replies View Relatedemoving some applications/libraries in synaptics and accidentally removed gnome-core.I am on a wpa2 hidden wireless network, and getting that up and running through the terminal in recovery mode has been killer, I've searched about half a dozen threads and nothing is seeming to work.My wired like is pretty far away and I really do not want to keep moving my desktop all over the house.When in the terminal i type apt-get install gnome-core it tells me I need to download 11 new packages, of course it fails because theres no connection. Is there any way I could use a command to compile a list packages I need to reinstall gnome-core, manually retrieve them from the ftp.us.debian.org, save them to eternal media and install them with dpkg -i *.deb?

I've got several language multimedia CD-Rom's, made for Windows 95/98/98 SE and 2000, that I'm using by means of my daughter's old PC (Win 98 SE O.S.). However I noticed, also, that you can perfectly use them even with Windows Vista. What I'd like to know is if you can use them even with Suse/Novell and (why not?) OpenSuse Linux.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhow to install a D-Link Access Point on Suse 11.0 or steer me toward documentation that will do that? I configured the device on XP following instruction from this forum and the AP configured perfectly.The AP is plugged directly into the network port on the computer. It *should* function correctly without a router. I tried a restart and Suse has no idea it's there. The computer is currently configured for a wired connection which needs to be changed. The computer itself is going to be used as a small home storage server.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a disturbing problem with my monitor which goes to sleep (or ??) after few minutes if my comp is not used and most of the time I have to restart my comp.I disabled everything in Powersave , but nothing. I did have that problem in previous versions of SUSE, but somehow, I solved that. I cant remember what I did then.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've pre-partitioned my HDD and want to install 11.2 on the second primary partition.However, when using the installer, I can't get Suse to install on the prepared 20gb partition - it keeps insisting it wants to install on the large unallocated section of the drive.
I find the partitioner somewhat hard to use and the answer may be staring me in the face but I can't see it.
I tried to use different version of Python, and followed the Readme like this
./configure
make
make test

I've been having trouble with CUPS.I uninstalled it and I wanted to re-install it. When I removed CUPS some other files were removed too. I don't have an option of installing the software or updating a system, in the Control Center.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was attempting to move the buttons on my panel and ended removing my network manager (did it by right clicking it and selecting "remove from the panel").
Now all i want is to put it back but i don't know its command nor where it is to use the "add to panel" feature.
Anyone knows how to put it back?
I booted up my laptop as usual and found that when I opened Empathy IM Client it would not allow me to login when I changed the status to Online (or equivalent). Normally as soon as I open the client the Messaging Status can be changed in the top right next to the clock so I tried to remove it but unfortunately it took the shut down panel with it.
To try and bring them back I used the restore panel commands in terminal:
Code:
$ gconftool-2 --shutdown
$ rm -rf ~/.gconf/apps/panel
$ pkill gnome-panel
Unfortunately the panels all reloaded, but without any change.
1. How can I restore the shut down and messaging section to the top panel (as is in the default)?
2. How can I get instant messaging to work again?
PS. I'm a Ubuntu noob, only installed it about 2 days ago. Thus I may need some very basic instructions to anything complicated.
EDIT: I just found the panel section was called the Indicator Applet, but now it's in the wrong place...
I accidentally removed messaging menu icon from gnome panel, and I can't put it back. I found this: [URL], but it doesn't say how to put the icon back on the panel.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been searching for 2 days and cannot find an answer. Apparently Sax2 isn't available in 11.3. It looks as if many are having the same difficulty. I've tried xrandr and tried to edit /etc/X11/Xorg.conf with no success.Copying a working xorg conf file might be a fix, I don't know.
