View 1 RepliesWhat would be the preferred method to establish a remote desktop session from one 11.2 machine to another 11.2 machine in the same location? No firewalls, local connection only. I've looked at VNC, RDP with xrdp, have not been able to establish a session to desktop. I would rather not use desktop sharing if possible, don't want invitations involved. Want something similar to hitting from Windows with VNC3and taking over the established desktop session. This is in my house, no security risks involved
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to Install Open Suse 11.3 (burned as an ISO DVD) along with existing Win 2008 R2 OS. When I try to boot from the DVD it just logs in to Win2008 though boot from CD/DVD is enabled in the boot sequence. So i tried to mount the ISO and run from Windows ! BUT I get an error before installation starts telling that Win2008 R2 is not supported in open suse installer! Is there anything I can do to overcome this and install/retain both OS? In fact I am even trying to c hange my win2008 from R2 to Enterprise to see if I can overcome the problem!

I went online to do a java3d test, and every test site says it is not installed, when it is. Now, where exactly was this supposed to be installed so I can use it under Firefox? Obviously it was installed in the wrong place and Firefox does not see it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to shutdown, logout, reboot using the graphical interface (Menu, Leave and then shutdown,reboot,..), I get the shutdown window and when I press the shutdown button, nothing happens. When I issue in a terminal window 'shutdown -h now' the system shuts down however. Does someone had a simular problem and if so how did they resolve it. Note that I use the 64 bit version of Suse 11.3 on a Dell Precison T5400 with a NVidea G290 card (using the NVidea drivers).

(and cannot open the form) This happens on Suse 11.3 on both my PC as on my laptop On the laptop both on Gnome and KDE. On suse 11.1 Lazarus works fine on both PC and laptop Also on MyApplication (written in Lazarus)
I get an error on suse 11.3 while not on 11.1 (on the laptop I did a clean 11.3 install to make sure no old 11.1 settings were still active) For this reason I downgraded my laptop back to 11.1 to keep my business application to be usefull. I don't think the problem is with Lazarus for it is the same version number. Is this a known bug or has someone a working Lazarus 09.28.2 on suse 11.3?
I was using Firefox 3.6 on Suse 11.1, but I have just reinstalled my root partition and now have Firefox 3.0.4. Firefox immediately warned me to install 3.6. I have downloaded a tar.b2, but I have no idea how to install it. Is it possible to do it through Yast? If I need to use Konsole, please can I have instructions and also where I need to put it. zypper dup
zypper up
in YAST view all packages and right click and click update all if update available.
I have tried all these methods but i still seem to be running Suse 11.0 as it says in sysinfo:/ . How do i successfully update from 11.0 to 11.1?
I tried to download the Suse 11.2 DVD to do an install. When I went to do the install it failed cause it was corrupt.Not to big of deal, I had an older version of 10.2.Now that I have 10.2 installed, is there a way for me to upgrade this to 11.2 without downloading the Install DVD.I've been away from messing with Linux for a few months so I'm pretty darn rusty. I'll run Linux for awhile and when I get frustrated I'll move back to Windows. I'll mess with that for a few months and then go back to Linux...

I have lost Both Ubuntu and windows with SUSE 11.3 installed and with YAST2 (as superuser) I cannot install belkin to get an internet connection, cannot instal Ubuntu or any thing else. I had dual boot win 7 and win xp, when i tried to install suse over win xp partition (i choose to format that partition during installation suse). I dont know how but suse keept win xp, and make 4 new partitions. After that i had to format whole hd, couse with partition magic i could not find that 4 partition. Now i install win 7 and win xp again, but i want to install suse instade of xp. Is there option to install suse. So i would have l 3 Os, i have laptop. Are 3os slowing comp.?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer has 3 hard drives: 1 SSD, 1 sata II, 1 sata 3. This is a dual boot system contains OpenSUSE 11.2 64 bit OS and Win 7 64 bit OS. the SSD drive has OpenSUSE, and the sata II has Win 7.
Win 7 sees the sata II and sata 3 drives, while OpenSUSE only sees the SSD hard drive and the sata II drive. Even in partitioner in OpenSUSE does not see the sata 3 drive. Is sata 3 (6 gb/s) supported in OpenSUSE 11.2?
To uninstall SUSE my approach is
1. Delete SUSE partition from WinXP
2. Recover MBR with WinXP recovery tools, using specifically "fixmbr"
HOWEVER, this always leads to complications - as in GRUB errors persist on booting and fixmbr does not seem to restore original MBR!Can someone tell me what I must do to restore my MBR, minding that the standard approach I've described doesn't seem to work?
