View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using kde 3.5.10 on a Debian Lenny with xorg from backports and nvidia proprietary driver (195.36.15) on my laptop. Nowadays I have received a 2nd monitor, end my purpose is to attach it to my laptop. TwinView or separate X screen work fine but clone or extended view modes for my mind are not so usefull. I think there is the possibility to assign one virtual desktop to one monitor and another adjacent virtual desktop to the second monitor. how to obtain this kind configuration.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 monitors. I'm using the Nvidia driver in Twinview Mode on the right side. I can move the cursor from one monitor to the next and I can drag applications between the two. I have multiple activities. And the second monitor selected one of those other activities as the background. I'm not sure how this was chosen, or if I have a choice. Anyone know? Do activities affect what is displayed in a dual monitor setting? As I toggle through the activities, the two monitors change, but never to the same one.
When I open an application, it's a guessing game which monitor it appears on. Can I control that?
I know if one clicks the top left corner of an application they can send it "To Desktop" ("all", "Desktop 1", "Desktop 2", etc). If I could assign "Desktop 1" to monitor 1, and "Desktop 2" to monitor 2, I could then use the "To Desktop".
At a minimum, how does one control where applications open in a dual monitor setting?

apache virtual host to limit the concurrent connections of virtual hosts? Taking into account the host of each virtual user's home directory can also have more than one subdirectory, which should be restricted to a subdirectory. Is beyond the control of the operation of these sites in a subdirectory. Best local restrictions or limitations to the overall situation.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have spent considerable hours searching forums and googling. I have yet to find out what "lm-sensors acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1:" is actually looking at. I have an Abit IP35 motherboard with Ubuntu 9.04 installed.
Here is the output from sensors:
Virtual Device Temp 1 keeps going up to 121 degrees and the computer shuts down. None of the others overheat. Also, my bios does not show my voltages to be set like it lists above. The bios in the motherboard is the latest from Abit.
When I create virtual ethernet interface and do a ping -I <v_int> <host> the outgoing address is the one of the physical interface and NOT the virtual interface. Is there no chance that trafic will go out with virtual interface address??Incoming trafic is done well i.e. responds to the virtual interface have the virtual address.
My problem is that I have 2 modems and want to check both default gw behind the modems.
If I do a "normal" ping both are reachable over default route even the modem which is not the default route will not work because ping goes over the working modem. So I have 2 routing tables and want to route the virtual interface to one modem the other to the other modem
I would like to configure and SAN disk. But I do not have a physical SAN disk. Is it possible to create and configure a Virtual SAN disk and work on it with virtual machines?I have around 400GB of space in my Laptop.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with setting up the virtual hosts on my web server. I have 2 virtual hosts (example1.com, example2.com). example1.com works but example2.com is sent to the index file of example1.com. I did some searching on google and it seems the problem might be with my /etc/hosts file.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've got a working Virtual Postfix server running with mysql doing user authentication. I have a support email address set as support@hostname.com, which has 5 aliases associated; user1, user2, user3, user4, and user5. When an email is sent to support@hostname.com, all 5 users receive the email, just as planned. What I'm looking to do is when an email is sent to support@hostname.com to have it rotate through the members of the alias group. That way all members of the group get support emails evenly and not everybody all at once. Is this possible?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHas anyone gotten XP Mode to work in Win 7- while Win 7 is running in VBox? Everything installs seemingly error free- XP Mode, and the two updates. I then start Win XP Mode. The computer goes through 25 minutes or so of setting up XP mode for 'first use'. At the end, a message appears: "Could not complete setup. Please try again". In Win7, I've removed XP Mode from Programs and Features, and reinstalled. No change.

I have laptop with Spanish keyboard layout. It has no ~. Lately I've been looking up lots of uni web pages, and they often have ~. How can I assign ~ to a key? On this library computer, I have ~ by pressing shift and the key next to 1 above the letters, or by holding ALT and entering 126 on the numberpad. I have no numberpad on my laptop. The fn functions aren't working under Ubuntu.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy server has 2 network cards. I have SLES 10 SP2 installed on this server. I had configured Ethernet bonding on this machine using 2 NICs. Now I want to assign 2 different IP's to 2 different NICs. I am able to do this without any issue using yast. ifconfig command shows that eth0 has 192.168.1.10 and eth1 has 192.168.1.12. Rest all networking details are same (netmask, gateway, DNS)
Strange thing: When I unplug only eth0, (eth1 is plugged in correctly) I am not able to ping any IP.
If I unplug only eth1, (eth0 is plugged in) I am able to ping both IP's.

I've installed a new copy of Ubuntu 10.10.Now the big question for me is how do we assign hostname to a given ip? I've given the hostname during the server installation and "cat hosts" says "ebox" hostname I'm trying to put on.Also,I modified the network/interfaces to static and assigned proper values.
#hostname returns ipaddr not the hostname. Also nslookup hostname/ipaddr says server can't find ....
So,is installing dns through bind and setting-up the only way to do that?

View 9 Replies View RelatedThe router is set up to use a 64-bit WEP passphrase. From what I've read, that means four different hex keys. One of which is meant to be active. I've tried each of the four generated keys, one-by-one. I've also tried putting them all in and activating one, but the syntax seems to be wrong.
I read Alien's Wiki on it, and various other sources. People keep suggesting wicd, but I want it to work with the rc.inet1.conf file first. Just so I know what needs to be entered in order for that to happen. I have a desktop to set up eventually as well, and that shouldn't need wicd.
