Red Hat :: RHEL 6.1 - Ran Yum Update - Get: Options Error
May 26, 2011
Brand new build of RHEL 6.1. Registered with RHN and then ran yum update. Everything completed fine, but now when I try to use yum in any fashion I get: Options Error: need more than 1 value to unpack Anyone else ran into this error? I have a support ticket open with RH but haven't heard back as of yet.
I have 4 partitions in my system, out of which two(sda1, sda2) have windows on them. I have installed RHEL 4 32 - bit on sda3 and after that , installed installed RHEL 64-bit on to a partition sda 5. Now i am unable to boot into RHEL 32-bit. The error i am getting is Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format.
I need to update a server from RHEL 5.0 to 5.1 When I use RHN/Yum and do a yum update the RHEL 5.0 server gets updated to 5.6 Is there a way to configure RHN/yum to update the server only to RHEL 5.1 ? In RHN I only see a general "Red Hat Enterprise Linux (v. 5 for 32bit x86)" software channel and not specific for the update versions like 5.1
I just installed the latest compiz as per leigh's instructions - nice, easy install!I notice that the snow application is missing. That was my favorite, but where has it gone??
How about floating windows above desktop cube? Dodge? In which upon selecting a window, the non-selected windows move around it to move it to the front.I also notice that many window updates are very poor. For example, in the compiz settings manager when I switch tabs, the window does not actually update unless I move it. I click on a tab and it looks just like the previous tab. If I move the mouse around, it will update the wind in blocks under the mouse, but not the whole window. And, it would appear that the standard compiz is still available from my desktop settings in KDE. Could I have failed to remove the original compiz?
when I want to update my system I notice some grayed out packages in the repository..u can know exactly what I'm talking abt with this pic:[URL]I want to know why those are gray and un-selectable and how to fix/select them for update if any (I want to have better knowledge of how ubuntu/linux works)
With the updates received with Ubuntu 10.10 my grub splash screen has become very busy. Is there a proper way to clean off the older update options? My dual boot for Windows 7 has now been pushed off to a second screen.
Recently, I am trying to use a complied software on Linux OS. I need to use X-Windows to do some initialize. When I run this software, I am getting the error: '/lib/tls/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found' I also checked the version of GLIBC on my computer, the highest one is GLIBC_2.3.4. So I have to update my glibc to 2.4 or higher. Some tips said it can be done using yum. I am a new user for linux. Could anyone guide me to do that? Here is the information of my computer: Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS release 4 (Nahant Update ; Linux 2.6.9-89.0.3.ELsmp #1 SMP Sat Jun 13 07:02:28 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I recently installed Red hat enterprise 5 on a vmware esx server 4 and i didnt realize that for updates and patches you have to have a subscription to the red hat network. is there a free server linux OS that does not require this and is there a way to update on RHEL 5 without a subscription.
When using RPM/YUM or any other package manager, is the old version of that program deleted and then follow by an installation of the latest update? example:
nautilus-2.16.2-7.el5 update to nautilus-2.91.6-3.el5
will nautilus-2.16.2-7.el5 be uninstalled and then follow by an installation of nautilus-2.91.6-3.el5?
I was using RHAT 6.0 Open Client for a couple months and didn't have any issues. Recently my company released version 6.1 of Open Client and recommended to upgrade it. Upgrade went smoothly and I didn't notice any problems until at some point it failed to run 'Software Update' application.
I install software called Sunflow v0.07.2 in my Ubuntu. When I try to run it,it says "API error : JVM available memory is below 800 MB (found 728 MB only). Please make sure you launched the program with the -Xmx command line options". What is that xmx command line. What should i do to run Sunflow.
Yesterday, after I reinstall suse linux enterprise 11 in my note book. I got some error messages. They are : From Suse linux installing processedacroread-9.3.2-0.1.1.i586.rpm yast2-pkg-bindings-2.17.45-0.2.10.i586.rpm After installed suse linux. error messages for all options in yast2.
The story is when I started installing suse linux, I checked first the live cd and I got message that live cd is okay. But, when the installation process was running, I got 2 messages error. But, the messages were informing me to verified from software management module.
So, my questions are :What are acroread-9.3.2-0.1.1.i586.rpm and yast2-pkg-bindings-2.17.45-0.2.10.i586.rpm and what are they fungtions? If my guess is not wrong, acroread means acrobat reader. Is it true? Where is others place I can download them (no.1,2,3) beside the live cd? Or, if the easyest way is live cd. As yast2 got error, is there an other way I can installed them (no.1,2,3)?
i'v installed ubuntu 10.04 on 3 different desktops and 1 laptop. It has gone flawlessly on all 4. i a want to install it on my hp to dual boot(the others i just wiped the drives) but when i tell it to boot from the cd at first it looks like it might work, with the purple page, but after a few minutes, before i get to the install options i get an error message. my current operating systime is windows and i have an hp pavilion. with 2.5 gigs of ram and a descent graphics card.
So I have the burned ubuntu CD, and I'm attempting to install it on a system that has one HDD with XP/Vista on it, and another that is completely formatted and unpartitioned. However, when I boot to the ubuntu CD, I can use the menus from the bottom, and select the language when initially prompted, but I can't select any of the menu options except for boot from first hard drive.
I'm on Ubuntu 10.10. I installed Samba and went Administration > Samba. Added a folder [Videos] to share (this folder is on an ext partition). I then went to the folder [Videos] Right+Click > Sharing Options. I selected 'Share this folder', I put in a name and comment, checked Allow others to create and delete files in this folder and checked Guest Access.
When I view this shared folder [Videos] from my Windows PC I can access it with no problems but when I try drill down into sub folders I get a permissions error. [Attached a screenshot of the error]. If I share each folder separately then I can access them but obviously I'd like to share a folder and all it's contents.

shut down my RHEL 4 system with an error still present in the /etc/fstab file. Current symptom: When I now try to boot, everything hangs when "Enabling swap space". Highly likely, the reason is the failure to "Mount local filesystems" in the previous step (i.e. "mount point 0 does not exist" = error due to my incorrect line in the /etc/fstab file).Question: Is there any way that I can still boot my system, such that I can remove the incorrect line in the /etc/fstab file?

I tried to install eugene software on RHEL-6 64 bit server. After extracting (tar -zxvf eugene-3.6.tar.gz) compilation files from eugene.tar.gz, I used ./configure to compile. Since I already installed gd (>=2.0), compilation error comes in need of gd lib (>=2.0). Again I removed the software & installed newly downloaded. But still it showing same error. What's the exact error in this?
