View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you are interested, Java SE 6 Update 24 is available. The Check Java Version link in my signature will tell you if you are up to date or not. The Update Java Version link in my signature will tell you how to obtain and install the latest version. The 32 bit version install directions are on the left side of that page and the 64 bit instructions are on the right side.
Just remember to remove the current version before installing the new one as it says in the instructions. The remove instructions are below the install instructions. Also, in Step 9 - "Now you'll want to tell the system, that there's a new Java version available." See the note below it that says if you get an error upon entering the command once, enter it a second time. I have to do that and sometimes forget. Just thought I would mention that. These instructions are already setup for version 6 update 24, but they can be modified for any update and they will work. I have been using these instructions for a couple of years and they work.
When using RPM/YUM or any other package manager, is the old version of that program deleted and then follow by an installation of the latest update? example:
nautilus-2.16.2-7.el5 update to nautilus-2.91.6-3.el5
will nautilus-2.16.2-7.el5 be uninstalled and then follow by an installation of nautilus-2.91.6-3.el5?
I was using RHAT 6.0 Open Client for a couple months and didn't have any issues. Recently my company released version 6.1 of Open Client and recommended to upgrade it. Upgrade went smoothly and I didn't notice any problems until at some point it failed to run 'Software Update' application.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOS: CentOS 5.4 x64 I give up. How do I get Java to work with 64 bit Firefox (yes Java is installed)?
in 32 bit, it is <code>ln -s /usr/java/latest/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/.</code> I can not even find a libjavaplugin_oji.so in x64!
I have a Java program (minecraft server) that needs to be run from the command line. The code is:
Code:
java -Xmx512M -Xms512M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui
To make life easy (i've got the java file in a folder on the desktop) I want to have a shortcut (or similar) sitting on the desktop. I've tried
Code:
ln 'java -Xmx512M -Xms512M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui' ./../minesraftserver
with single and double quotes but my unix command line skills are pretty basic and this is obviously incorrect.
I downloaded the latest version of JBidWatcher and I run it with the following command...
Code:
java -Xmx512m -jar JBidwatcher-2.0.1.jar How do I create a link on the desktop or on a panel to execute that command? I can only imagine this is pretty easy but I am not getting it.
Note : Test it on Test Machine before you do it on live server O.S : RHEL 5 / CENTOS 5 FYI.... OR IDEA If you wish to install only jre download & install jre-6u18-linux-i586-rpm.bin in /usr/java ( Note create java dir { mkdir /usr/java }
#ll /usr/bin/java
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Feb 12 19:24 /usr/bin/java -> /etc/alternatives/java
unlink /usr/bin/java
[code]....
Am trying to download all the rpm packages from the link, http://vault.centos.org/5.2/os/i386/CentOS/ via wget.
But im getting error: "transfer failed, unknown or unexpected error", the command i ran is, wget [url] then tried, wget [url]
But no results, it just download the index.html file.
My question then is, how to download multiple files on a webpage via wget?
Does any one know some links to download the gcc binaries?Noted that it's the "binaries".
View 3 Replies View RelatedI thought of suggesting this application to those of you who like writing notes and making your notes funky by grouping them, posting links, dragging images, and tagging the boxes in whichever way you want. IMHO it's easy to handle it and has a sweet interface, so I guess it's worth giving it a try . If you're on openSUSE 11.4, you can download and install it by accessing this link: software.opensuse.org: Search Results.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHere at home I have several Ubuntu installations, mine, the kids computers and a couple of laptops. What I'm looking for is a solution or a pointer in the right direction to setup on our local Ubuntu server a sort of cache. Each day each Ubuntu on the network, checks for updates and downloads, and installs. What I'm looking for is a way for one machine to download the update and then the others to download from the local resource.
A sort of local cache to try and minimise everyone downloading straight from the net for pretty much the same updates. I did a emerge cache many years ago when I was using Gentoo, so I'm wondering what I can use/do here with Ubuntu as we are all loving this distro now.
