I'm trying to install a RHEL 6 kernel from src in RHEL 5 I can install the kernel source without any issues, but then I'm having problems installing rpm-build 4.8 I get the following errors:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install kernel-2.6.32-71.24.1.el6.src.rpm
2. rpmbuild -ba kernel.spec
3. find /root/rpmbuild/BUILD/kernel-2.6.32-71.24.1.el6/linux-2.6.32-71.24.1.el6.i686/-name kvm.ko
Actual results:
not found kvm.ko
Does RHEL6 include smp kernel? When I run uname -arn it does #SMP but I want to confirm if a seperate RPM like kernel-smp-* is included in default installation.

I have a remote system running two instances of RHEL5.1 (dualbooting) and I need to install RHEL6 on the other partition from the active one. I understand that you can't upgrade 5.1 to 6.0 so I would need to do a fresh install. My basic question are, is there a way to install an OS from an existing OS to another partition? Can anaconda be run from an already installed system? Is it possible to manually install a system just from RPMs?
I've come across things like debootstrap for Debian and haven't found anything similar for Red Hat systems.
As I'm currently in a different part of the country from this machine I would like to achieve this without having to be physically at the box or reboot the machine (reducing risk of being completely cut off from it).
I have Win 7 installed on my laptop with 4GB RAM. I have installed Oracle VirtualBox-3.2.8-64453-Win. Kindly let me know the steps to install RHEL 6 on this.

I have Redhat 5 playing nice as it authenticates against windows server 2008. But I ran into issues trying to get Redhat 6 to do it as well.
Here is where I stand on my redhat 6 box:
I have my certificates working between the windows and the redhat box.
From Root user I can SU to an Active Directory user. getent works. I can see all the users info. ldapsearch works with the CA certificate so my SSL handshake is working. I do not suspect cert issues
But when I try to login as active directory on my Redhat 6 box I get told I used an invalid password. The password works just fine on the windows server, so I didn't fat finger anything. I am just confused as to why I can have getent and ldapsearching but can not login.
I have turned off iptables on redhat and the firewall on 2008 server to see if that would change the situation but no luck.
I noted that in Redhat 6 I need to config SSSD rather then NSCD.

I currently dont have the cd/dvd of RHEL 5. But i need to install gcc. I have been searching all day but wasnt able to find any rpm that is related to RHEL5. I download the following file
gcc-3.0.4.tar.gz
and extracted it, Then i run the following command
