I am having dificulty in loggin on the server via ssh-tectia. Sometimes, i can login for like 3 seconds the it shows error "disconnected from network" Other's can login on this server via ssh-tectia without any problem, BUT i can successfully connect to other servers .

I got the following problem, when I try to login in into terminal and I write any correct user and its password and the following message is displayed "Module is unknown" and it doesn't get into the prompt.I don't know what else to do I am little lost about this question. Probably it could be something related to pam configuration or something like that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running a Dell D630 laptop that uses the onboard intel i915 chipset for both audio and video. This is in a docking station that's connected up to a larger monitor. The laptop boots just fine as it has been for quite a while now. I get to the login prompt, enter my credentials and then after pressing enter and it looks like it's going to load my profile, the wallpaper updates but then the screen goes black for a moment and I'm then brought back to the login prompt again. The system is up on the network so I was able to ssh into it and capture the following from the logs during a login attempt.

I clean-installed Fedora 11 and everything was running well. I wanted to try Bacula backup program and so I installed the Development package in other to compile Bacula. When I finished the installation, I discovered a bunch of foreign language supports had been installed. I just erased them. While doing so, I must have also erased some other files.
When I rebooted, the bootup process went well until just before the login screen. The screen showed the Fedora logo, f, and got stock there. I was able to login remotely from another local network computer via vncviewer. I found that GNOME dsktop was missing. I logged on to Fedora 11 text mode by issuing CTL+ATL+F3 and did 'yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment" By remote login from another computer, I determined that the GNOME Desktop had been restored. But the Fedora 11 still stil stuck just before the login screen. What do you think is missing? What do I need to reinstall?
After applying some updates to F11, I was unable to login. After putting the username and password in, the dialog would go away and it would appear that the window manager was trying to load. Somewhere in the process the mouse and keyboard stops responding. The HD activity lights flashes for quite a while but later goes out.
Hoping that F12 would help, I upgraded. The upgrade went well but the problem still exists.
After upgrading FEdora 13, user ravi was added. Then after few days neel was added. Both of the users were already existing. So when attempting login to neel, we found that every file is owned by ravi. So we did$chown -R neel:neel But after that problem started and when we rebooted the machin, there were no list of users on login screen. (then I connected to that comp remotely, it worked, but somehow I was not able to switch to root) It says incorrect password (though I new it very well). So I went to maintenance mode and changed the root password, and rebooted. Still problem persists.Now I am not able to login as root (from anywhere, login screen , terminal, remote)No list of usernames on login screen ( but i can choose, other and type login-password)

Then i got an upgrade wizzard and selected Fedora 10 and than reboot.
In the grub menu only one kernel is present which is the Fc10 so couldn't use the old one.
I've tried to edit the kernel with single for single user that works gives me a command line but im just not experienced enough to figure out how i can use the command line to login.
I've installed F12 twice now. After completing the installation and getting all the updates via YumEx, my network trouble begin after a reboot. I am not able to login as root under gnome so I can't see the services panel.

I updated SElinux to selinux-policy-3.9.7-10 and selinux-policy-targeted-3.9.7-10, and touch /.autorelabel overnight, I was able to login using GDM once. And that is all. After I boot, after Ctrl+Alt+F4, I can login to terminal.

Selected my user log in, entered my password, and after a couple seconds I briefly see what looks to be the console and am returned to the login splash screen... I can Ctrl+Alt+F2 to get to the console and log in... but that is as far as I can get. This is the case for Gnome, Remix, and Remix 2D.
I can sudo apt-get (update, upgrade, etc) as well. It is the right password because if I type in a wrong one it presents an authentication failure dialog box.
How can I fix my log in screen and get to my desktop? I am Currently running 10.04.... waiting to get 10.10

I have an iMac G4 that I installed Jessie on successfully. However, when it boots, one of the last messages is:

Last line is something along the lines of:

And then the text starts dissolving, and the entire screen cycles through different colors. I presume it is sitting at the graphical login prompt but it's not displaying correctly.
Based on some Google searches, it seems like I should be able to resolve this by editing /etc/modules but I can't get to that point. I have tried to get to a terminal using ctrl-alt-F1 through ctrl-alt-F12. No luck. I tried different yaboot options that were supposed to avoid using the video driver. No luck. How do I get the machine to boot straight to a regular text login instead of the X one?

I am using rhel 5.3. I am using windows 2003 server 32-bit (the processor is 64 bit. AMD athlon x2). I have installed vmware and installed rhel5.3 64 bit on top of it. Now i am able to login as root from GUI mode (f7 console), but unable to login in text console from f1 to f6. I checked the /etc/securetty. But there was nothing unusual there. I think udev is causing this problem, since google said so. I cant find where the udev.rules file is located that google searches are taking about. How do i enable root login in f1-6 console.
