i have installed Red Hat-VMware Workshop v 6.0.1 successfully. Now i am trying to run virtual machine but i am getting an error that is "File not found: M41804.lck.This file is required to power on this virtual machine."Can any one provide me this file so that i can start redhat linux and do my assignment.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI completed the installation of VMWare Server 2.0.2 onto a CentOS 5.4 64-bit distribution. There is a VMware virtual machine file on the server in question, and I want to activate it through the application console.
I did not see anything readily apparent that would facilitate the importing of the virtual machine file. Does anyone have a procedure that can accomplish this task?
I was trying to install vmware.bundle file, and found a terminal command that helped me install the program.
su
chmod +x VM*.bundle
./VM*.bundle
I was just curious what the command chmod was for? Just trying to understand the terminal a little better.
I installed VMware Player on my Ubuntu 10.10 machine, which uses Macbuntu skin. Loaded Vista on VMware Player so I could sync my ipod... works great. One problem I want to use VMware Player's unity mode but there is no menu to select it. From all of the screen shots I have seen on the web there is suppose to be a menu bar selection at the top next to the ubuntu (apple in my case) symbol to select unity mode through... but it is no where to be found. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just updated my 7.10 release to the final release patches/kernel for it (as a step in the process of upgrading the installation to 10.10) when I have come across a very disheartening problem.
Prior to this update, I was running VMWare Server 2.0 with its normaal admin console at localhost:8333 and an applet install under Applications -> System Tools -> VMWare Administration Console. Now that I have updated, both these are missing or inoperable.
However, the VMs hosted by the machine are still perfectly functional. I can login to the via Remote Desktop or VNC as the case may be.
I can also no longer see the /var/lib/vmware/Virtual Machines folder or any VMWare folder at all, even when using the full root login and permissions. Find and Search also show a disturbing lack of the 64Gb of VMDK files that are the running VMs.
Any clues as to how I can track down this invisible, but functional install? I do not want to proceed with another update until I get a solid backup of the VMDKs.
Recently i installed VMPlayer-3.1.3 Linux version in RHEL-5.4 installation is done,but vmware-config.pl file is missing so that i cannot customise the network settings.
My host machine(RHEL-5.4),consists 2 nic card and each having 192.168.x.x,172.20.x.x ip address.In My guest machine i configured 2 virtual nic.I want to customise these nic.
Also i want to bridge the host machines eth0 to vmnet0 and eth1 to vmnet2.so that i can customise the virtual nic's.
I did these settings in windows and it is working,but this is the first time i am installing vmplayer in linux.
I have been using VMware Player for some time to host Fedora VMware images on Windows XP. I have been using Fedora 11 and 12 (both 32 and 64 bit) and recently started to use Fedora 13.

I usually install VMware tools and also keep the images updated (yum update) which sometimes changes the kernel.
I have recently had problems with the snapshots not having a network when I restore them. So far I don't have the problem with Fedora 11 and do have it with Fedora 12 (but used not to). I do have it with Fedora 13.
In each case the problem goes away when I uninstall the VMware tools and comes back when I install them again.
One of the symptoms is that SElinux complains about not being able to do something with /var/run/vmware-active-nics.
It looks to me that something is incorrect in the actions being taken when the snapshot is being restored. It does not happen every time and sometimes the network restores itself.
The network can be restored by rebooting the image.
I was trying to install vmware player 3.0 and it prompt that it require the kernel kernel-2.6.35.6-45.fc14.i686 to be compile before it start.

Trying to install an XP Pro virtual machine as a guest in VMware Workstation 7.1.2, fails with the error: "Could not open /dev/vmmon. No such file or directory. Please make sure that the kernel module 'vmmon' is loaded".Host OS is Debian-Lenny. Was able to specify the new virtual machine configuration, but VMware failed to create the new image (because of the error specified in previous paragraph).
Is the problem that Debian is not loading/executing a needed process? Should I be directing this problem to either Debian or VMware? I searched the VMware documentation, and it mentioned something about chkconfig (Redhat), or the rcconf/ksysv utilities to change SUSE configuration levels. I am unfamiliar with the syntax, don't know why this is necessary.
I am missing the File menu in many programs (Fedora 13). I found a thread that said this fixed itCode:yum remove gnome-applet-globalmenu gnome-globalmenu-common sshmenu gnome-applet-sshmenubut I did that and (I'm using audacity to test) it said that it was missing gnome-globalmenu. So I did Code:sudo yum --enablerepo=updates-testing install gnome-applet-globalmenu gnome-globalmenu-common sshmenu gnome-applet-sshmenubut now audacity is again missing the file menus.

I use a Logitech Marble Mouse, which has no middle button but two scroll buttons, and have been trying to configure button mapping (I think this may also be called Xorg hotplugging?) to map one of the scroll buttons as a middle button. The most helpful info I have yet found was on https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...h_Marble_Mouse which seems to provide plenty of info on the subject--enough I should have no problem mapping the buttons the way I want. The only problem is I have no 10-evdev.conf file in my xorg.conf.d folder. I opened a console and ran ls as root for good measure, but the only file that showed up was 00-system-setup-keyboard.conf .

I did a 'locate ipconfig' in the terminal and the only files I got were plipconfig, sipconfig.py/c/o, plipconfig.8.gz, ipconfig.h. I dont know what happened to my ipconfig file. Where I can get a new copy of it?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed Fedora Core 13 x86-64 from the installation DVD and picked the "Software Development" installation. I notice that the Applications->System Tools menu doesn't have "File Browser" on it.
Nautilus is installed, so I can create a launcher for it. I'm merely curious whether this is a change or bug in FC 13? Or should I suspect that I myself deleted the file browser launcher accidentally? The machine is a laptop and I find the mousepad awkward to use.
I'm trying to view the /etc/termcap file, but it doesn't seem to exist. Am I missing something on my install? I used the Fedora Core 14 live CD to install it to my hard disk for a dual boot configuration with Win 7.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Fedora 13 on a new Dell XPS desktop and some of the networking files are not created/missing. The computer has Broadcom Gigabit wired card and Asus PCE-N13 wireless card. When I type lspci, I see that Network conroller: RaLink RT2860 and Ethernet controller: Broadcom BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet. So, somehow they are being detected by the OS, but I am not sure if the drivers are installed or why some of the network files are missng.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMissing ifcfg-eth[2-5] fileset for ZNYX 345Q Quad Port 10/100 cards. I have showing in the gui network device that my ports for my ZNYX ZX345Q Quad Port card my ports are Auto eth2, Auto eth3 etc. My Motherboard and Intel cards show as System eth0 and System eth1.
There ARE corresponding entries for those in my /etc/sysconfig/network-settings/ directory, but there are not ifcfg-eth[2-5] files to correspond to these adapters. Can I just write my own files and that will do it?
How does Fedora 12/13 load these drivers into the kernel without having these ifcfg files?
I'd love to know if there is another way Fedora controls NICs / other system resources.

I have installed the latest version of Ubuntu Linux (11.04) into latest VMware workstation (7.1.4 build-385536). I have tried to install the VMware tools ISO that came with VMware workstation but It didn't work and the installation seemed real sloppy anyways.
I installed the open VMware tools from synaptic within the guest linux and restarted, everything seemed to have been installed just fine but VMware Workstation doesn't detect it. I'm not sure if the tools are outdated, silent errors happened, or if any manual post installation steps need to be taken.

I have tried to find out how to set up the system, but is somewhat confused on the setup. The idea is to use software raid to aviod data loss if one SSD is giving up in the future. I run a VMware clone of CentOS 5.3, I observe that kudzu [i.e. /etc/init.d/kudzu, from /etc/rc3.d/S05kudzu or /etc/rc5.d/S05kudzu] detects a MAC address change on eth0 and then creates a /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0.bak file. This .bak file is identical to the original ifcfg-eth0 file except for the value of the HWADDR [i.e. MAC address] parameter. I would be unconcerned but for the fact that /usr/bin/neat indicates that both ifcfg-eth0 AND ifcfg-eth0.bak are 'Active'. The following solution may help others with the same (or similar) problem:

I'm happily running Fedora 13 as a guest OS in VMWare 3.0.1, except that it has one little issue.Sometimes the mouse would get terribly confused. It generally happens when I hit the mouse scroll wheel or when I move a window around very quickly. After that the left mouse button would stop working...
Anyway I found an easy workaround which I thought I'd share.Just hit 'enter unity' on the VMWare player menu. Then you can immediately exit unity again. This somehow resets the mouse into its normal state...
