Programming :: Unable To Use The "-s" Option For Lam Mpi Which Is Used For Loading The Program
Feb 22, 2011
I am using Lam mpi. The problem I am facing is that, I am not able to use the "-s" option for lam mpi which is used for loading the program from a particular node and then using the nodes in the cluster to execute the program.
Now I have to copy instance of the executable to every node for the program to run in the cluster. Is there anyway to load the program from a particular node and then use the cluster nodes in its execution without manually copying the executable to each and every node in the cluster

I was unable to compile a program that used libicu42 on Ubuntu 11.04, because Ubuntu 11.04 has only libicu44 and does not have libicu42 installed. So during compile time I used g++ prog.c -L mylib/ to compile the program. mylib had libicu42 (This library is a shared library and has the .so extension). The program compiled successfully, but when I tried to run it, it failed and complained that it did not find libicu42. So I had to manually install libicu42 in /usr/lib. Then the program worked.'ldd prog' revealed that it looked for libicu42 in /usr/libWhat was the point of specifying the library path using -L, if the compiled program looked for the library in /usr/lib? It's almost like it was just to satisfy the compiler.

So I had decided to install debian but I thought I couls do it by myself without anything which I was wrong about, because I wound up installing Debian on my C: drive/windows partition. So far nothing has been bad and I am still running windows but now my C: drive has been renamed to "Install Debian GNU/Linux" I know the name doesn't mean shit but I'm curious why every time I go to change it it auto changes back. Also now every time it boots up it asks me to choose between UNetbootin, which i uninstalled, and windows. how do i get rid of the option to remove unetbootin even though I uninstalled the program. Same with Debian I deleted everything i could find but it still changes the drive name, how to fix any of this and might there be files I haven't found where would they be located?

I am trying to install Fedora 12 x64 on my 27" iMac 10,1. I have tried both the installation dvd and the gnome live cd (both x64 i did not try the x86). On the installation dvd I get as far as the menu giving me the boot/install options - I have tried to install both with a basic video driver and the regular install/upgrade option - both times it begins loading components for the installer program (/sbin/loader) etc. After it loads sbin/loader and mounts the partitions it freezes with half the screen being the terminal txt beforehand and the other half being just a standard fedora logo w/blue background. It is not much different when I try the live-cd the only different is it does the exact same thing when the timer for automatic login is done. Any possible command line arguments that I could use to stop the graphical corruption?

This post isn't really asking for a tutorial, but rather asking for some ideas. I've come up with a few ideas, but they seem cumbersome and unnecessary, so I was wondering if someone with more experience than me could out. Also, my explanations suck, but I'll try to do my best. So say I have an executable called X. At some point during its execution, X loads and uses (using dlopen and dlsym) a library called Y. In Y, there a bunch of functions that call the function called, for example, void *special_malloc (size_t). These functions come from another linked library (linked during compilation) called Z. Problem is, special_malloc contains some static variables within its scope, and when those variables are reset midway through a program, an invalid free occurs (special_malloc uses garbage collection). Now, what I want to happen is that whenever lib Z calls special_malloc, it instead calls the special_malloc defined in the executable X, so that these static variables are retained. Keep in mind that I have control of the Z library, meaning I can edit the source to fit my needs.

Have been using Ubuntu 9.10 since past 2 months and had similar power and screen saver options as I do now after upgrading to 10.04. ( "sleep" after 1 h, "lock screen" after 10 min, "hibernate" when "close lid" on a Dell 600m laptop)
With Karmic, Never had issues with closing the lid while the laptop was sleeping. Three times in a row noticed that if the lid is closed while laptop is in sleep mode, opening the lid results in a blank screen, HDD and CD drive spins, fan turns on. No response to keyboard and/or mouse. Pressing the power key: no response.
The only solution is to shut-down by holding the power key down for a few seconds and reboot. Cant imagine why there would be a problem, but wondering if there are others who also see the same thing and if there is fix to this. Right now, have disabled sleep and will see if problem shows up.

I've installed opensuse 11.3 on my computer (well actually Ive done it twice, once with full DVD image and once with network install). Everything was OK until Ive made update (yast/software/online update <-- BTW kupdate applet isn't working, just update bar appear and stuck on 0%). i haven't installed any additional packages, only the defaults (KDE desktop). after update only fail safe option is working (booting normally and looks like normal desktop, no visual differences between normal and fail safe booting, if there should been any). When I've tried to find solution for this problem, very ofter answers were -> graphic drivers problem (im using ati hd 4670 AGP <-- yea, AGP . well when i start normal boot green screen with lizard logo appear, then screen goes black for a second or two, then the green screen come again, and after another few second screen goes black permanently with working hdd for 30-40 second (hdd led blinking) BTW i have windows7 pro (booting fine) on this machine too, it was installed as first system on hd0,0. opensuse was installed on stand alone PATA disk (secondary EIDE master, ODD on slave). how to gather info which u all need to get this problem more detailed. I've installed a diskless Ubuntu system with the latest 64-bit Maverick kernel, by following the instructions found here:
[URL]
However, the clients are not diskless and I want to take advantage of this by using a local cache of the nfs-mounted filesystem. I'm using fs-cache and the cachefilesd package for this purpose. Of course I want to cache the whole root file system and in order for that to work, the filesystem must be mounted with the "fsc" mount option.
Hence, in my fstab I have the following entry:
Code:
/dev/nfs/ nfsfsc1 1
However, I can easily verify that the fsc mount option is not being used when mounting the root system:
Code:
# cat /proc/fs/nfsfs/volumes
NV SERVER PORT DEV FSID FSC
v3 81102339 801 0:17 562aac732e56f8ac no
If I mount an nfs share manually after booting then it will use the fsc flag without any problems. However, I'd rather not try to remount the root file system, even if that might work.I also learned that there's a special kernel option called "rootflags" that specifies the mount options for the root file system, so I tested modifying the kernel boot parameters as follows:
Code:
append root=/dev/nfs rootflags=fsc initrd=ubuntu-boot/initrd.img-2.6.35-24-generic nfsroot=11.22.33.44:/data/nfsroot ip=dhcp rw
However, the root file system is still mounted without the fsc option. What do I need to do to enable the fsc mount option so that fs-cache will work?
Update: According to the manpage for initramfs-tools, you should be able to specify the NFS mount options as a kernel parameter using NFSSERVER:NFSPATH:NFSOPTS, but I suspect this is not correct -- when I test it only works if I use the format NFSSERVER:NFSPATH,NFSOPTS. Perhaps the manpage needs to be updated?
The following manpage for NFS does not list fsc as one of the options [URL], the following does:[URL] this because it's two different versions? When I try to use the fsc option, I get the following error:
Code:
nfsmount: bad option 'fsc'

fedora 12 with php 5.3.1 + apache is installed on the server
I needed a FFMPEG + MENCODER + FFMPEG-PHP setup , so I have installed all of the necessary libraries/codecs along with ffmpeg , mencoder and ffmpeg-php
I've added ffmpeg-php (ffmpeg.so) module to php.ini and restarted httpd
But ffmpeg was not showing up in phpinfo() so I grepped : php -i | grep ffmpeg
for some clues and got this warning
PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php/modules/ffmpeg.so' - /usr/lib/php/modules/ffmpeg.so: undefined symbol: php_gd_gdImageSetPixel in Unknown on line 0
That error explains why ffmpeg is not loading
Obviously something to do with GD library , so I've researched on the net , and found that some users suggest loading the GD module before FFMPEG module.
I gave it a try and added this at the end of php.ini:
Code: [gd]
;loading gd
extension=gd.so
[ffmpeg]
;loading ffmpeg
extension=ffmpeg.so ...but still same error when greping phpinfo()

Code:

I read the argument list in a switch shift loop. I figured out how to read the filelist but only if -f is the last option.
how to position the file list anywhere in the argument list?

I am creating a script for making a public folder in linux. The idea behind is to allow any user to write files in this folder and further each of those files can be used by any user. For this purpose I am using acl. This first requires to set acl as mount option in /etc/fstab which I need to do with help of (awk and sed) command available in linux.
The line below is the fstab entry which I need to make change in.
UUID=e9a3db4b-d8c0-40b4-a661-131e13afea1e
/ext3 relatime,errors=remount-ro 0 1
I want my script to identify this line (most probably with / which denotes the mountpoint) and then add (acl,) without brackets in options. Currently I use the command as below
sed 's/realtime/acl,relatime/' /etc/fstab
but the above command is in reference with (realtime) what I am planning is that my script should be able to find the line which has / and then go to options and add acl there.
