Programming :: Mod_rewrite Remove Sub-directories From URL?
Apr 25, 2011
I have tried this a million ways, got it to work once but it didn't work sitewide for some reason. I have a url: [URL] and I want it to be found by going to: [URL] I am using this
Code:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/agents/tp/
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/?$ agents/tp/$1/index.php [L]
and have also tried something as basic as
Code:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/agents/tp/
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ agents/tp/$1/index.php [L]
I keep getting "The requested URL /JoeAgent/ was not found on this server." why it's not working?

I'd like to remove all directories of a certain depth that don't contain .txt or .log files -- is this possible? So far I have: find ~ -mindepth 3 -maxdepth 4 -type d -exec rm -r '{}' ; Is it possible to add in "only if the directory doesn't contain .txt and/or .log files"? Or do I have to start learning perl to do that?
For example:
dir 1:
hello.txt
runme.sh
dir 2:
runme.sh
oct12.log
[Code]....

I have hundreds of directories in various subdirs that I need to remove. I want to remove all of these dirs, but can only find solutions on how to do remove files (or how to remove subdirs from within the current dir).
I think I need something like
find -iname 'testfile*' | xargs rm -i
where I want to remove every directory that contains the word 'testfile' within the directory name. I know xargs wont work for dirs,

One other step how can I remove files in all directories owned by me. I did the google search first guys and a majority of the pages just dealt with the basics like rm -r

I'm trying to clean up an iTunes-sorted Music directory. For whatever reason, it contains a large number of folders that have album art, but no music. I'm actually more concerned about a safe way to test my removal batch, but I thought I'd paste everything I did in case it's useful to someone. Based on this thread, I came up with the following script:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
find ./*/* -type f -iregex ".*(mp3|m4a)" | sort | while read line ; do
echo "${line%/*}" >> file1
done
sort -u file1 > fileuniq
[Code]...
But I'm scared to just run this on my music folder. Is there any way to run rm in "test mode", so that I would just see verbose output, but it wouldn't actually delete anything? Failing that, does anyone see anything wrong with my plan?

I was running '# ls -l' in '/' directory and I noticed all directories in '/' have the following permeation 'drwxr-xr-x' [except root's home which is 'drwx------' (after I change it from 'drwxr-xr-x' )]
I don't want all the user (except root) to be able to read and execute (in) any directory, I just want every user to be abel to read/write/execute only in his/her home directory.
my question is, is it ok to change file and directory permeation of the following directories in '/' from 'drwxr-xr-x' to 'drwxr-x---' or 'drwx------' recursively?
/bin
/boot
/dev
/etc
[Code]....
-I and the other users use the pc for internet, open office and email mainly.
-It does not run server(s) like smb/cif or NFS.
-There are 5 usernames (created by me, non of them are superusers) in th pc, only one user is required to login at any one time.

Trying to track down reasons why mod_rewrite won't load, I found this site; hopefully, this will reduce the idiocy of this question.
Based on it and other sources:
Code:
graton# locate mod_rewrite.so
/root/share/openh323/lib/apache2/modules/mod_rewrite.so
/root/share/pwlib/lib/apache2/modules/mod_rewrite.so
[code]...

I want to use rewite module to change my site url from site/index.php to site/cat/ for example I have created .htaccess file in the directory where the file is and add to it:
Code:
RewriteEngine on
Rwerite ^cat$ /site/index.php
Here site is not my site, it just in example. I have rewrite.load in the loading list of modules and I can see it loads in phpinfo(). AllowOverride is set to All for the current site, but no redirect is made on site/cat

I am still struggling to get non-www to www. At the moment I have following code to redirect from non-www to www. RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.hoteldealscatcher.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.hoteldealscatcher.com/$1 [R=301,L]It works totally fine for home page but not for other deep links, such as /city/Sydney.php, they are still going to non-www pages. What 's the best approach I could use to solve it

I have mod_rewrite and mod_proxy loaded properly for the apache2 package in 11.04. I added the following to the bottom of my apache2.conf:
RewriteEngine: On
RewriteRule: ^/$ /test [L]
The server restarts fine, but / is not getting rewritten in the slightest. And when I added the RewriteLog directive, the log file had absolutely nothing in it.

I am running Apache2 on Novell SLES 11. I am using Virtual Hosting for two sites. One site only has a single domain whereas the other site has two domains registered. surrounding my one virtual host with the two domains. I want anyone that point to [URL] gets redirected to [URL]. I am trying to do this for trending but not 100% on how to go about doing this. I've read about mod_rewrite but most of the information I've read about is about a single site running on Apache and not much around Virtual Hosting within Apache. I am currently using Server Alias within my vhost.conf file which allows either [URL] or [URL] to see the site but I really want to redirect [URL] to [URL].

I'm having problems figuring out the process to find directories that DO NOT contain a certain file. I have a mp3 collection that all the album art is name "folder.jpg". Not all the albums have images. I need a way to find the albums/directories that do not contain "folder.jpg". I can find the ones that do contain "folder.jpg" with
Code:
find . -iname 'folder.jpg' -print0 | xargs -0 ls >> album_art
but that is as far as my bash-fu can take me. I'm not really sure what my next step is.
My directory structure is like such: a-z/artist/album/folder.jpg

I'm trying to figure out how Make handles directories.
How can I modify this makefile so it will put all of the .o files in a separate build directory?
Code:
But make ignores this and still puts main.o in the base directory. And if I refer to the build directory in the dependencies for bandit, make complains about "no rule ..."
I want to keep main.cpp in the base directory, all other sources in the src directory, and all object files in the build directory.

I want to enable Pretty URLs in Concrete5 and Joomla CMSs. So far I have- enabled pretty urls in the CMS- created .htaccess files (as they showed)- changed AllowOverride None to All in /etc/Apache2/httpd.conf <directory>- restarted ApacheBut the pretty urls still don't work, When I click any link on either site it gives me a page not found error. If I use the "non-pretty" URLs, all the links work. So I guess Apache either doesn't read the httpd config file or it doesn't read the .htaccess files or something else. Has anyone got this working? What else did you do?

I need some direction on a small scripting question. I've been doing some development and storing the code on a network drive with multiple user access. My development is getting complex enough that it is time to set up a svn repo for it. I would like to set up a little script (if possible) that prints a message/reminder to whomever is accessing the code directory stating that the code is ultimately stored in svn and any changes need to be checked in, etc. Is there a way to have linux print a message to the screen based on a 'cd /specific_dir/' command? So far google is mum on the topic. Using Debian and bash shell.

I have been searching for a solution to the following problem:
When my distro of choice updates Firefox web browser, the directory name is '/usr/lib/firefox-<version>'.
The problem here is that the directory name is dynamic by nature and doesn't allow a simple static solution, e.g.
'cp -rf /usr/local/files/bookmarks.html /usr/lib/firefox/defaults/profile'.
The same quandary applies when adding extensions, changing prefs etc.
I have looked at the following commands:-
find, sed, xargs, grep, awk, fprint.
Unfortunately my grasp of syntax and programming is very simple at best.

I have mounted remote Windows share using CIFS and writing bash script for those files. However being a windows share since there is a space between directory names like "Program Files" and hence I am not able to parse it through bash script and script exits with error.
Does any one have any idea about how to perform the operation in script on such directories?
e.g.
cd /tmp/temp/Program
Error: No such File or Directory
cd Files/
Error: No such File or Directory

I'm in the midst of making a perl script and I was wondering if it was possible, to say, have a folder with 20 files in it, then move 5 files out of there, into a new one. I would like to to do this until the original folder has no more files in it, but I'm very stuck.
