General :: Redirect Apache (mod_rewrite) From Subdomain To Https Directory (vhost)?

May 1, 2011

On one of my servers (Centos 5.5), I have been hosting articularly complex CRM application for one of my clients. Recently they have asked about configuring SSL connections to the CRM. Problem is, SSL is already configured for their main domain but not the sub-domain where the CRM application is accessed. Rather than purchasing another SSL certificate for their sub-domain (and probably another IP address),ld it be possible to setup a redirection from the subdomain to a sub-directory in the SSL directory using mod_rewrite. I have searched online and through the other posts on LinuxQuestions but nothing I have tried works. For example:[URl]

Server :: Apache2 Running On SLES 11 Mod_rewrite?

Jun 3, 2010

I am running Apache2 on Novell SLES 11. I am using Virtual Hosting for two sites. One site only has a single domain whereas the other site has two domains registered. surrounding my one virtual host with the two domains. I want anyone that point to [URL] gets redirected to [URL]. I am trying to do this for trending but not 100% on how to go about doing this. I've read about mod_rewrite but most of the information I've read about is about a single site running on Apache and not much around Virtual Hosting within Apache. I am currently using Server Alias within my vhost.conf file which allows either [URL] or [URL] to see the site but I really want to redirect [URL] to [URL].

Ubuntu :: Apache2 Mod_Rewrite - Passing The Artist=$1 To The Server GET Vars

Sep 9, 2010

I've given a bit of support using Mod_rewrite to use magical urls to redirect to scripts, but when I migrated to Ubuntu's Apache2... I'm lost. I basically want to rewrite like this:

Code: RewriteRule ^artist/(.+)/$ artist.php?artname=$1 But I noticed that it wasn't passing the artist=$1 to the server GET vars. Then I noticed that if I changed the name of the file in both the rule and the file system to artists.php, typing artist/blah/ no longer was found. So then I realized that if I removed the rewrite rule artist/hello/ would still resolve to artist.php without any parameters my htaccess is like so:

Server :: Root Inode Is Not A Directory?

Nov 25, 2010

The filesytem is (or was ) 500Gb ext3. We had a small electrical power failure yesterday, the server do not stop but the disk array (SCSI Raid 5 disk system) restarted. This morning, the filesystem was not available (I/O error) so I reboot the front end. The fsck failed with the message: root inode is not a directory There are nearly 400Gb of data on this filesystem. Any idea to solve the problem ? Google always point to a commercial software or windows software...

General :: Build Fedora Server - Wipe Clean At Initial Time - Root Directory?

Jan 25, 2010

I messed up the first installation of Fedora on my server. My setup is as follows: Fedora and Gnome - NFS system, No dual boot (Windows or anything) Fedora ISO DVD downloaded No kickstart or other tools. how to set this up, from the time I insert the disk and have it boot up (configged already to boot from it). I know how to wipe it clean at intall time. Is that the root directory? And, is /boot the actual boot directory? I'm just having a hard time uderstanding that. As I said, I just want a quick itemized list, step 1, step 2, etc, from partitioning, creating file system, mounting, etc. in the right order.

Ubuntu :: Root User Directory Does Not Exist, Root Password Not Recognised?

Oct 26, 2010

I no longer have access to my root desktop. On a session I attempted to change the root username but i apparently assigned it a wrong directory that does not exist. When I rebooted with my new root username, i was instead recognised as a simple user (no root privileges). I tried the console to change to "old" root but root password is not accepted and there is no way to access to sudoer files. it seems that inserting a new username requires root privileges and i am back to square one. Simply logging with old root username and password after restart gives me a blank screen with nothing on it and cannot even reboot.

General :: Installing As Non-root In A Root Owned Directory

Mar 8, 2011

I have a machine which has only /opt with some decent amount of space where I can install a software. /opt belongs to root:root. The software I want to install cannot be installed as root user.

So lets say I create a directory called /opt/install1 and then chown -R install1 to belong to user1. And now I install the software under /opt/install1 with user as user1.

Is this a best practice violation? There could potentially be just /opt/install1 belong to user1 and in future everything else created under /opt belonging to root..

RewriteRule: ^/$ /test [L]

The server restarts fine, but / is not getting rewritten in the slightest. And when I added the RewriteLog directive, the log file had absolutely nothing in it.

OpenSUSE Network :: Make Apache Mod_rewrite Work?

Jun 1, 2010

I want to enable Pretty URLs in Concrete5 and Joomla CMSs. So far I have- enabled pretty urls in the CMS- created .htaccess files (as they showed)- changed AllowOverride None to All in /etc/Apache2/httpd.conf <directory>- restarted ApacheBut the pretty urls still don't work, When I click any link on either site it gives me a page not found error. If I use the "non-pretty" URLs, all the links work. So I guess Apache either doesn't read the httpd config file or it doesn't read the .htaccess files or something else. Has anyone got this working? What else did you do?

Ubuntu :: LAMP: Mod_rewrite, Imagick Refuses To Work In One Folder?

Feb 19, 2011

I have ubuntu 10.10. I installed apache2 Php mysql and phpmyadmin through the package handler. it worked after that I instaled Imagemagick , and imagick for PHP. than I installed mod_rewrite for appache2. I created a folder in /var/www/ called shimmie. I copied there my codes and after setting up htaccess it worked fine. url rewrite worked. thumbnails with imagick appeared along with normal images. Yesterday I got another webpage project. but it required apache mod_ expires and mod_headers and installed it. And installed Xdebug for PHP. after this I put the webpage to another /var/www/ folder called fashion. Now in fashion everything works as its needs to: url rewrite , expires.. everything. But now my original folder shimmi, doesnt works: no url rewrite, no imagick thumbnails nor the original image shows up.

the folder belongs to my user and set is that every thing can read it and write it.

EDIT: I even copied the shimmie folder toa new and still didnt work, so i re created it... and still doesn't work.... why is thats the only thing that cant use .htacces and imagick?

Fedora Networking :: When Try To Mount The Share To A Different Directory On The Server, Receive A 'no Such Directory' Error?

Dec 18, 2010

I have a server with Fedora 13 with which I would like to get NFS working. I have looked up multiple howto's and tutorials, but I'm having a problem not addressed by any of them.Official how-to, another how-to, and another how-to.I have verified that nfs-utils, nfs-utils-lib, portmap, and system-config-nfs are installed and running. I have verified that I have, in fact, shared the directory that I want to share, and that the proper permissions are set.

I had to go through some gyrations to get the Belkin wireless N router to allow my server to have a static IP. However, I can ping the server from the nfs client (a toshiba satellite running mint 8), and vice versa. I have (for now) disabled firewalls on both computers. I think I have disabled SELinux on Fedora 13 (for now). When I attempt to connect to the server from the client, the output looks like this:Quote:

aragorn ~ # mount -v 192.168.2.101:/test /home/kelev/test/
mount: no type was given - I'll assume nfs because of the colon
mount.nfs: timeout set for Sat Dec 18 12:21:09 2010

Server :: Fedora Sending Mails From Root With Non-root Account?

Jul 14, 2011

I've started to get emails that would typically come from [URL] as [URL]. These emails come from services that send out emails (backup programs) directly, or from cronjobs. I've logged in as the non-root account and either sudo su - or su - to root and the restart the service at one point or another. If I login directly as root and bounce the service or cron the emails come across as from root. I don't see anything in my environment variables after I su to indicate what would cause this. I'm not sure where else to look? A pam setting? This seems to have happened between Fedora 10 and 14 (did a bunch of overdue upgrades recently) I've only got Fedora so I don't have anything to compare to. In Fedora 10 I did not have this problem.
