Programming :: Fullscreen 2D Graphics Without X?

Jun 29, 2010

My boss is looking to use Linux for an embedded device that will require some 2D graphical output. Ideally I'd want to do this without the use of X.

Ideally what we are looking for is something that is easy to program for and could execute without initializing an x-windows system. If we do need to program inside of X what would be the best approach for creating a full-screen dedicated 2D interface?

Programming :: Dependencies For Graphics - How To Download Them As A Bundle

#include "conio.h"
#include "stdio.h"
#include "iostream.h"
#include "string.h"
#include "graphics.h"

My question is how to dowload all these in interface folder instead of downloading one by one? Tried googling but no success.

Programming :: Game Graphics Short Inquiry?

I've never done anything with graphics before and would just like a quick idea of how much of a project is graphics vs functionality.

Programming :: Enable Graphics Features On Codeblock?

Jan 26, 2010

I'm used to write simple programs on codeblock which run on consle. i.e.console applications. When I try to compile programs which need graphic features, I get stuck as many libraries 9especially header files) are not in MINGW/include folder so I have to search on the net and add those files into include. My question is, by default, to enable graphics features on code block which "folder" should I download and incorporate it into codeblock? I tried to follow examples on glut, opengl, that is you have to download glut and add it somewhere on codeblock. Now I just want to have graphics functionality especially which need graphics.h file, searched on the net and find that sometime you have to download BGI, sometimes you have to download SDL, etc.

I hope you get the picture of what I'm trying to understand, it seems that by default codeblock doesn't come with graphic functionality e.g.graphics.h file, now what shall I download, and where do I add it so that I can draw graphs etc on codeblock. [codeblock has /include folder in C: Program FilesCodeBlocksMinGWinclude], now whenever I download new feature e.g. glut has its own version of include, lib folders etc. Is it necessary to add those include, lib on inlude, lib of C:Program FilesCodeBlocksMinGW? or it should work on its own original path? suppose I download glut on C:Program FilesCodeBlocksGlut. Now, what folder should I download to have graphics on codeblock?...

Code: Select allError in plot.new() : attempt to plot on null device.

I have the core Jessie packages for R, so I don't think that is the issue.

General :: Make PCI-E Graphics Card Visible To Ubuntu When The Motherboard Has Integrated Graphics?

May 2, 2010

I have a Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 motherboard with integrated graphics that shows up on lspci as an ATI Radeon 2100. I also bought a PCI-Express Nvidia graphics card so I could use the VDPAU feature on Linux (plays H.264 in hardware). The BIOS has three settings about which display to initialize first:

Integrated graphics
PCI graphics
PCI-Express graphics (PEG)

I set the BIOS on PEG, but

I cannot get anything, not even a splash screen or POST messages, to emerge from the PCI-Express graphics card. (I'm using a DVI connector; the card also has an HDMI output.)I cannot get the kernel lspci to see the graphics card; the only VGA controller it acknowledges is the integrated one.Running dmidecode acknowledges the existence of an x16 PCI Express slot, and it says

Current usage: Unknown

There is an additional BIOS setting called "Internal Graphics Mode" which is normally set to "Auto" which means it is supposed to prefer a PCI Express VGA card. I set it to "Disabled" which now means I'm getting no output at all. I will soon be learning how to do a BIOS reset!

Other information: The PCI-E card is a MSI N210-MD512H GeForce 210. This is a fanless card. Although there are no fans to see turning, the heat sink on the PCI-E card is definitely getting hot, so the card is getting some sort of power.It gets all its power from the PCI-E slot; there is no external power connector.The BIOS is an AMI Award BIOS.how can I make the PCI Express graphics card visible to Ubuntu?

Ubuntu Installation :: NVIDIA Graphics Driver - Graphics Mode Option Via The Start (GRUB)?

Jan 26, 2010

I have just installed Ubuntu (9.10) and noted that in order to successfully run the trial off the CD I had to test in "safe graphics" mode. I have an NVIDIA GEforce 6600 GT card - which was discovered by Ubuntu in the first few minutes of the trial and so I activated the recommended driver and continued to test. After a successful trial I installed Ubuntu (dual partition Ubuntu / Windows XP), however, it seems the install didn't activate the required driver (as part of the process) and so I'm unable to get into my newly-installed Ubuntu at all. All I get is a flashing tty screen asking for my username and password - however it's erratic and won't recognise what I type. So - I'm stuck in a catch-22 as there doesn't seems to be a safe graphics mode option via the start (GRUB?) menu list.

The WoW client recognizes a resolution option of 2048x768, but when i apply it, it squeezes it onto one monitor. how to fullscreen across both?

And i have removed the touching sides of the monitor cases so the screens touch directly so it is feasible to play.

Fedora :: Wine Won't Go Fullscreen On F11 64bits?

Nov 11, 2009

I've just migrated to Fedora after 2 years of Ubuntu, and I'm rather happy with it, except for one problem left. When I launch a windows program through wine (I've only tried games yet), it won't go fullscreen. I tried everything I fond on the internet: disabling compiz, enabling/disabling virtual desktop, but no matter what, my game is still on a tiny window. I tried switching my resolution to the one of the game, it doesn't change anything. And pressing alt+Enter doesn't change anything either, except sometimes crashing the game. The 32 bits libraries for xorg-nvidia are installed, and I don't see what could cause this problem.

OpenSUSE :: Blender Launches - It Goes Fullscreen

Mar 20, 2010

I've just decided to switch from Ubuntu and give this distro another go. I've not used SUSE since 9.x so we'll see what happens. I'm running Gnome anyway but when I launch Blender installed from the repositories it goes fullscreen (press F11 in firefox and that's fullscreen). This isn't the default - the default is windowed like when Firefox is maximised say.

You can run it from a terminal with the switch -w to launch it windowed but that doesn't do anything...still fullscreen. Then comes the kicker - I downloaded the alpha version of 2.5 which is a binary in a tarball and it still did it. What's going on? Why is openSUSE 11.2 forcing fullscreen mode? Any ideas because I quite like what I'm seeing in this version of openSUSE but I really need to do my 3D stuff in it and fullscreen makes things difficult when i want to multitask.

Ubuntu :: Fullscreen Flash Hack / What To Do?

Nov 28, 2010

Any 1 who uses Linux knows that one problem with many distros (if not all) can't play flash videos fullscreen and change volume at the same time. Very very very very annoying.

But I think I might have come across a fix possibly probably not but who knows!!!

Here is the story. I was on my windows partition playing some games, but i also wanted to watch hulu on my second screen. To my amazement flash would exit full screen (on second screen) when it became out of focus because of a click on my main screen. so i did a search on the web and they have a flash hack that keeps it from exiting when it loses main focus. This is what we need!! can some1 with slightly more hacking know-how then me make this hack work for us over on linux?
