Programming :: Fortran - Automatically Find The Starting And Ending Line Of Desired Variable?
Jun 23, 2011
I am loading the file in Fortran. File looks something like this (shown below) I am interested in Velocity values and not Pressure values. Is there a way to code in Fortran which finds the staring LINE of Velocity values and ending LINE of values or I have to manually find the lines? IN this case it should return Starting line : 9 Ending line: 11
PHP Code:
[code]....

For some reason my gnome-terminal is starting in / when it should be ~ I have checked /etc/profile, ~/.bashrc and /etc/passwd and everything seems fine as far as i can tell Konsole and xterm are starting up with the working dir to my home dir (as set by /etc/passwd) But im at a loss to see where gnome-terminal is starting in / if i enter cd with no argumants in gnome-terminal it is switching to ~ fine, so i dont think its mistaking my home dir for /

I want to get the last term of an unknown-sized text line, by usig the awk command. Is there any variable which points to the last term of a text line ? (obviously, y can obtain that term if i knew how many terms does the line have... i.e. awk '{print $12}' ; if we are talking about a 12-terms text line) I wonder if there is an option like $?, to get the last term.

I created the following.
x="top
middle
bottom"
I would like to make the following work.
while read line
do
echo $line
done
instead of importing a file I would like to use the variable $x I tried using pipes, but with no luck. My goal is to read one line at a time, but not have to export my data to another file, I would like to keep it all within one script.

I'm using sed to remove certain line in a text file based on a match with 2 variables from input. Here is how it looks like in file
Philip S:Odds:45:343
Mike Junior:Odds:3:56
I prompt for 2 inputs in variable form which is compared to the first 2 fields of the above text (: seperated). So say i enter Philip S and Odds then it should delete the entire first line.

I have a perl/python interpreter available on the system so really as long as the script would run on a standard linux build I'll be happy.So I don't know how to program a script that would find the unique key (which if needed, can be easily stripped out and put into a separate file) and then print out the data below it without going into the other lines.

A function by name abc is called in many files. I want to copy all the lines with the function call to an output file.A simple grep on function name doesn't help me as the function call is spanning across multiple lines as follows:
abc(parameter1,
parameter2,
parameter3);
So I want to copy all the three lines (till semicolon) to the output file.The problem is because there are more than 200 calls for the same function and I cannot do it manually

I have a CSV file that's created in an application that can't output lines longer than 250 characters. the data fields, all together, are longer than this. how would I remove the line break from every line that ends with a comma? For example:
A,B,C
D,E,
F
G,H,I
becomes:
A,B,C
D,E,F
G,H,I

I would like to have a script that will do a search in an XML file for a specific block of XML code and replace it with a different block of XML code using the Windows build of GNU Sed 4.1.5.
Here's the text I want to find:
Code:
And here's what I want to replace it with:
Code:
There is however a lot of stuff in there that would mess up sed, and the one example from the sed FAQ (from the Sourceforge site) that looked promising and easy enough to figure out (4.23.3. Try to use a block of "literal strings") fails with this error message: sed: file blockrep.sed line 18: unterminated `s' command
Anyone got any ideas, or even an alternate program that can do this? (Preferably one that I can automate.)

I'm trying to read content of file to variable and use this variable in for loop. The problem is, when I have c++ comment style in file - /*. Spaces in line are also interpreted as separated lines.
For example:
Code:
Changing $files to "$files" eliminate these problems but causes that whole content of variable is treated as one string (one execution of loop).

my script has a variable which comes in the form +00.00 +0.00 -00.00 or -0.00 (the numbers can be any in that form) for any that have a + symbol I need to remove the +, but if it has a - symbol it needs to stay.
i need to make a new variable with the string from the old variable btut without any plus sign. I have tried a lot of different ways with no success, each thing I tried either left the + or removed the entire string. I think this should work but doesn't
foo=+12.40
bar=${foo#+}

I want to compile MFiX which is a simulation software. Therefore, I installed the Intel Fortran Compiler Ver. 11.x When compiling, I can only choose between Ver.9.x and 10.x.
This is a part of the error message when choosing either:
Is there a possibility to link the program to the newer compiler version?
I'm using Centos 5.4.

I am trying to write a Perl script that can open a file, find text that appears between two identifying strings (for now, "start" and "end"), then modify that text by enclosing it between "term_" and "_term" . Since the identified strings vary, the replacement string becomes "term_$1_term". From looking at other threads in this forum I've been able to get as far as spitting out the modified terms using the following code:
open FILE, "start2.txt" || die ("Could not open file <br> $!");
$text = <FILE>;
while ($text=~ s/start (.*?) end//) {
[code]....
The problem is how to get "term_$1_term" into the file in the same while loop, which I'm guessing would be some of variant of "$text=~ s/$1/$term/;" (which doesn't work as it stands).

I'm trying to call some Fortran 95 code in C, but I'm having problems with integers not having the same value in C as in Fortran, and changing values upon each run of the program. I think it has to do with the integer type, but I don't know how to fix it. I'm running Gentoo x86. Here are the files I've got:
foo.c:
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
extern int qux_();

There are examples everywhere about calling f77 subroutine from IDL, but I have not found any material about IDL calling fortran written in f90 way(free style). I tried the following example, but write the subroutines in free style. When I run the makefile, it gives an error 'undefined reference to main_'.
Code:
SUBROUTINE SUM_ARRAY(argc, argv) !Called by IDL
INTEGER*4 argc, argv(*) !Argc and Argv are integers
j = LOC(argc) !Obtains the number of arguments (argc)

I have two arrays of data, called data1.dat and data2.dat. each contains 60 data. What I want to do is to compare the data in each file and write the counting into bins. It goes like this. First, take the first data in data1.dat file and compare with the 60 data in data2.dat file. If there is any data which is same with the data in data1.dat then it count in bin. The total bins are also 60. Next it goes to the second data in data1.dat and compare with all the 60 data in data2.dat. If there is any data same then it add in second bin. And it repeats to all the data in data1.dat

I'm not a Fortran coder but I need to call the sub-routine ADAPT.f from a c code.This subroutine calculates a multiple integral of a given function.My problem is that the c code works with no problem in a 32 bit machine but it does not in a 64 bit machine, and the problem seems to be related to adapt, which calculations gives a NA rather than the result of integration.Since fortran is quite obscure for me, I don't know why is this happening. Maybe I should change some data type (from real to double), but I'm not sure. Does anyone have a clue?
