Does anybody here use the color theme plugin with GNU emacs? I put the files (color-theme.el and the themes folder) in my load path and everything appears to work, but many of the themes don't display correctly.
On those that fail, only the portions of the buffer which actually contain text are themed, the rest is just plain white. This is particularly noticeable when using a dark background, as I tend to do. If this isn't a good enough description, I can attach a picture.
Just as an example: charcoal-black works perfectly while dark-laptop fails as described.
This problem seems to be unique to openSUSE as the plugin works okay on the Red Hat machines I use at school.
Can GNOME Color be used to alter this change directory color in Ambiance theme? I'd rather have white.

I like the theme I am on, but I want to lighten up my panel colors a little to contrast morwith my background.If you are wondering, I tried gnome-color-chooser and I cannot figure out how to change every panels color with that in 10.10; just parts of panels.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter an upgrade to OpenSuse 11.3 KDE has gone to worse. I am beginning to believe that dark themes are impossible to use on the new KDE 4.4.4. The only theme that works properly is Air, but I find it to much white. Aya or Elegance theme have problems showing the buttons on plasma elements, so has any other theme but Air. Trying to switch to an additional dark color theme (Obsidian Coast) does not work properly either.
The buttons on plasma elements are invisible (the button panel that appears when the mouse is over an plasma element). Sometimes different elements are distorted, i.e. icons, text input boxes etc. I wonder how it is possible that the developers at KDE can make it worse. This worked perfectly on OpenSuse 11.2 and its KDE version.

I'm finalizing the the dual-boot addition that I recently completed. I've added lubuntu to the LT3114u Netbook that I use. That's done, now I'm migrating my user environment back from the Cygwin one that I've been using on Windoze, as of late. One of features that's been useful has been the global environment management possible with the windoze UI functions. As I coded my emacs environment while 'over there' (windoze side), I included a check for the lisp library repository path environment variable EMACSLOADPATH. It is globally available when one logs in, and does not get set in any user scripts, or dot files any to do with CYGWIN or emacs.
While it has been easy enough to set EMACSLOADPATH for the login shell environment, via .bashrc, .profile, and system wide via /etc/profile, I have not been able to have '/usr/bin/emacs23' have EMACSLOADPATH set when invoked via the LXDE UI. Thus, it would appear that emacs is not being initialized with the same environment that any of the shells are (old school?). Thus, what is it that one must update in order to have GNU emacs initialized with the same environment variables as bash? Or, put another way, why aren't the environment variable defined in /etc/profile, ~/.bashrc and/or ~/.profile ending up in the initialized environment upon invocation of emacs23 on lubuntu Linux?

I've coma across a problem I have not been able to solve myself. Is there a function in the linux API similar to GetConsoleScreenBufferInfo() on Windows? refer to: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...=vs.85%29.aspx
I only need to get the current color settings of the active terminal.
scanimage is cool. It would be great if there was a command line that one can configure to scan without X, and with rather quite some options to configure... convert to jpgcapable of finding -d snap:lib... whatever you plug and replug the scanner
View 12 Replies View RelatedI've introduced myself to OpenCV a bit now and can do some of the most basic things with it. My current goal is to have a solid color object (say a red ball) and have a camera be able to find that object. Anybody know of any resources to start learning how to do this? Any tutorials/books? Or is there something I should be searching for instead of color detection and tracking that will give me things more in the right direction?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am writing a bash script that utilizes the output of another script (which I will refer to as script#2.) Script#2 is not owned by me, I cannot modify it. All of the output from script#2 is blue, which makes it difficult for me to read.
I would like to have the output of it changed to grey. Is there a way I can do that in my script? A command I can pipe the output to?
Edit: One other question related to this. I put a trap function in my script that works well. Script#2 essentially runs a tail -f. When I ctrl+c to stop it, it stops script#2 and never calls the trap in my script. Is there any way I can work around that?
I've been trying to figure out a way to more easily color text in Perl like I do on Bash on a Linux box. In bash, what I'll do is set color variables up to equal the escape sequence, then echo out with escape seqeunces to print it exactly how I want it. Typically I'll want a character or a word in a different color, not the whole line. For example
echo -n -e "My face is turning ${RED}red${UNCOLOR} like a lobster." In Perl with the term::ANSIColor module, it seems to just do a line. Am I being dense? Is there a way that I can do it like I do it in BASH that's fairly easy to read after the fact?
I am using the screen app, and have set bce to on, and issued the following commands to set my background and foreground color: tput setab 4; clear; tput setaf 7; clear;
This temporarily sets everything properly on my screen. However, when I issue any commands that change or set their own background color (for example, when I issue an "ls" command with colorized output), the background color gets lost for any new output and I have to reissue the commands listed above in order to retrieve my background color.Ideally I'd like to keep my background color when issuing these commands, as it serves as a good way to remind me of what environment I am currently issuing commands in.
I have a problem for which I imagined a radical solution. Okay, I have a script that uses Alltray's "menu" feature as an interface. It's working greatly, EXCEPT sometimes lxpanel (the panel and tray of LXDE) has a hiccup and restarts, at which point the alltray menu is still running, but the icon is gone from the tray.
I want to somehow test the screen for the existence of a color, a color that is likely only to exist in the icon I've chosen for the chat menu. If the color exists on my screen, then the script can continue to do nothing, but if the color doesn't exist, then that means the alltray icon with my custom icon has disappeared, at which point I should have my bash script close the alltray process and start it again.
How to accomplish the checking of my screen for the existence of a particular color? To simplify, I already have simple screenshot scripts (scrot is good for it), so it would be fine if I could simply analyze an image.
I find that when I am using bash, I like to type clear <enter> ls.. or clear; ls.
I wanted to these two commands into a script called cls so I can call the script to clear the screen and list files at the same time. My script looks like this:
I did chmod a+x and put it into /usr/bin
The script works fine, except that when I execute it, the folders/files are not color coded. If I type clear; ls on the command line, they are color coded.
How can I make this work in the script?
i try and install themes, the appearance editor tells me "XYZ does not appear to be a valid theme". for example, i tried to install this perfectly normal looking theme here: [URL]... and i got the error. if u can, could u try checking if this theme is working for u (its just a few kbs)?
View 3 Replies View Related(bare with me as I am sort of new with scripting) I am trying to figure out how to run a script that does a basic chkconfig and to get only those services that are running, but changing the color of "on" to red in my output file. Here is what I am working with so far:
Quote:
#/bin/bash
RED=$(tput setaf 1)
BLK=$(tput setaf 0)
[code]....
*I had to substitute a "-" and <colon_symbol> for ":" in front of the on's, because the forum thought they were smiley faces (i.e. n) how to make the "on" to be red while the rest of everything remains in black text. I have been trying to read up on sed and awk, but it is still pretty much a mystery to me right now. There will be other things in the output file that I wouldn't want a rogue "on" to be in red, so just the instances of "on" in that one chkconfig return.
I have Ubuntu 10.10. The software package that is available in the Software Center and Synaptic is 23.1 (which I installed), but I'd like to install the latest release (23.3). What's the best way to go? I know that you're supposed to try to find a deb package if possible, but there's only tar.gz files on the official GNU site. I found this site: http:[url]....
which seems to have the deb package for 23.3, but I don't know anything about this site and if I can trust it.I found version 23.2 here:
http://packages.debian.org/stable/editors/ though I'd still prefer the latest version. But again, I don't know this site either.What's the best for me to get 23.3 where it will just work and I don't start getting dependency errors?
How can I set indent in .emacs to enable my new line starts from the same position of previous line?

I work with python and I use emacs as my IDE tool. I have been running Debian Squeeze (6.0.9) for some time now with emacs 23.2.1 and ecb 2.32. I am able to access my python methods in the ecb-methods window with no problems. However I recently upgraded my desktop to Debian Wheezy (7.5) running emacs 23.4.1 and ecb 2.40 but I have lost access to the methods in the ecb-methods window. The window is just empty while the others (directories, sources and history) are all populated. I have a second laptop which I decided to upgrade to Debian Jessie, however Jessie recommends emacs 23.4.1 which is running with ecb 2.40 also. The result is the same as on Wheezy.
I have used the ecb menus and googled for a solution or even just a mention that such a problem exists but have come up with nothing. Either I have a unique situation here or am doing something really dumb.
I would like to upgrade to Wheezy or Jessie but I need access to methods in the ecb methods window. How to keep my upgrade and see the methods in the methods window of the ecb system ....
I've just moved from openSuSE to Kubuntu 10.10 - and I find almost all of emacs extentions not working. For example - see the report of emacs --degug-init
Here it says that emacs have encoutered problems while loading autopair.el
But it was working on openSuSE! Or I have done smth wrong?
I'm having trouble with dead keys in Emacs on Ubuntu Lucid and I'm at my wits' end. Using a standard Norwegian keyboard layout, and dead keys work fine in all Gnome applications. But Emacs just spits out messages about undefined keybindings when I use dead key combinations, for instance for tilde (~): "<dead_tilde> is undefined". This is super-annoying, since I use Emacs a lot, and I need some way to fix this.
What I've tried so far: Loading the 'iso-transl' library in Emacs seemingly makes the dead keys work, but it's not consistent across modes (works for plain text, though), and I didn't need to do this before. Also, loading this breaks Emacs' latin-1-prefix input method, for some reason. Fiddling with keyboard-preferences, iBus, im-switch xim/none/ibus, etc. Removing ~/.xinput.d directory. Fiddling with various environment variables: GTK_IM_METHOD, GTK_IM_MODULES, XMODIFIERS
Of course, I'm testing this in Emacs started with '-Q' to elminiate problems that might be caused by my own rather extensive set of initialization files. Using dead keys in Emacs has never been a problem until I upgraded to Ubuntu Lucid.
