I've installed Opensuse 11.4 and I would like update kontact 4.6 version. How I can do it? I've added the repository Index of /repositories/KDE:/Unstable:/SC:/kdepim46/KDE_Distro_Factory_openSUSE_11.4 but I can't update.

I took a backup of my /home first of course and then copied over to my new install whatever I wanted, like mails from Kmail and some other stuff. The only thing I'm missing and can't seem to find is my contacts from Kontact? Are they included in any of the other apps? 'cause I can't seem to find anything even related to Contacts in /home/.kde4/share/apps where all the other stuff from Kontacs where.

In earlier version (KDE 3) I had summary with calendar, holidays, notes and mail notifications in left column of summary and RSS (Akregator) channels in right column. I can't do the same thing with new Kontact - left column takes all summary window I don't have Akregator plugin in Summary configuration but Akregator is of course installed:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using openSuSE 11.3 with KDE 4.5 from Distro:/Factory repos, and all seems to be right (some bugs on Digikam and Amarok but they are already reported), but I find that everything is in my language (Spanish) but Kontact family (Kmail, Kadressbook, Akregator,...) that are in American English .I tried to install all KDE's spanish localization from YaST and cleaning ~/.kde4 folder to reset configurations, but it's useless. I don't know if the problem is only mine or just localization in Kontact is not in repos (I noticed that Kontact's version is 4.4.5 because the "newer KDEPIM" is in beta right now).

Now these are old buggy versions (see e.g. texi2dvi: locale-dependent error in egrep [A-z] ), causing that documentation can not be built, for example when building gcc. Now one would hope that Suse provides updates (the latest version of texinfo is 4.9), but I can't find them?
It seems to me that the installation of texinfo is a bit more complicated, because of the integration with your system, so I hesitate to install texinfo myself. Yast should have a bug-reporting facility, where one could easily report such issues. Hope somebody can help (we have to install various pieces of software, which call texi2dvi, which then breaks, making the whole build breaks, and it would be not easy to change the build of these

View 9 Replies View RelatedMicrosoft Outlook increments Kontact invites by one hour. It appears that Kontact and Microsoft Outlook process ical.ics invite times differently. According to an inside source at Microsoft, Outlook is looking for a flag in the ical.ics file that indicates if time is being send in daylight saving time (DST), or standard time. If the DST/ST flag is not present, Outlook assumes the time sent is standard time. Outlook also looks at the time zone. If the time zone indicates DST is active, and the time sent is in standard time, Outlook increments the time by one hour. Kontact does not create a DST/ST flag for the ical.ics files it creates. Thus, all invite times I send to my Outlook clients are off by one hour.I don't know the ical.ics standard.
Is Kontact not implementing an ical.ics standard, or is this DST/ST flag just an internal Microsoft standard? IMHO Microsoft's algorithm for determining DST is inefficient, and not logical. The algorithm relies on the receiver knowing the DST rules of the sender. The logical way is to send time as an offset to universal time. The receiver then adjusts time according to the local DST rules, without having to know about sender DST rules.

Last winter we had the intention of using VMWare branded Novell Suse Enterprise as we were going to be getting the licenses/subscription through the purchase of Vsphere. Since that time we have set up 4 VMs, and have been testing an application that will soon be going into production status. However a new issue has arisen. As we are over budget we will not get the Vsphere license (which included Suse subscription). We also found that the added features of a Vsphere license do not really add anything over the free ESX hypervisor.
On the one hand these servers have all been configured precisely, on the other hand we have no update service from which I understand we would need a Novell subscription. Most of the repositories we have added are external to Novell, meaning they are community ones. So my questions are this:
1.) Can we use Opensuse community repositories for the Online Update?
2.) If not is there a way to easily 'convert' Enterprise Suse to Opensuse?
Obviously what we first want to avoid is having to do a brand new install of Opensuse and spend the time moving data from the old to the new. One of the issues that has caused the delay and over runs is that the application we will be deploying has not lived up to its promises, and has caused considerable amount of time configuring, tweaking, and de-bugging.
I just tried to install lightning and it complained that I wasn't running the right/latest version of TB so I added the Mozilla repository, ran a check and nothing. So I checked out the Mozilla site and they have a version 6 for download. Why does Suse not want to update from the current version 3?

I havent used Linux in a long time. I dug up an old copy of Suse (version8.2), and installed it on an old 599MHZ PC. Ive been trying to update the various libraries to be able to get a updated version of Firefox installed. Is there any chance that this can work? I need to know if Im wasting my time and should just put winxp on this PC. Also, I cant get any repositories working. I assume the default ones I have on the Suse installation are bad and the ones for the later versions will not work.
