I think OpenOffice Writer is wrong.
I'm trying to block a site for a certain time. How to Block(deny) perticuler website in certain times of the day , by using squid ? and it seemed promising.I added the lines to my squid.conf
acl office_time time MTWHF 3:00-21:00
acl bad url_regex "/etc/squid/block.acl
http_access deny bad !office_time
created a block.acl in the same directory and restarted it.
I install Opensuse 11.4 on KDE environment then I changed to XFCE. I don't know how to configure for computer auto shutdown after a period of time don't use it.

My power went out for an extended period of time and now my graphics are messed up. I started my computer up and I only can get 640x480, so I was trying to reinstall the drivers but the nvidia drivers on the repositroy do not make sense as far as what goes with what, or descriptions of them. I downloaded the driver off nvidias website instaled it. It went to my desktop same problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running on 11.2 and i have added some repositories, like Packman, KDE 4.4 Factory, KDE 4.4 Community.I would like to have this packages automatically updated which seems not to happen. If I look into software management every now and then, I always have to "switch system packages" to get the updates via the the updated applet. So I was wondering, if it could be due to a wrong priority for those repositories? Is a high or a low priority the point where the applet is looking from which repo to update? If not, what is this priority used for?
View 4 Replies View Relatedafter having far too many problems with other brown-coloured distros, I moved my MythTV box to SuSE (what all the other machines here use). Everything is working, EXCEPT for one thing: automatic idle shutdown. I cannot get MythWelcome to shut down the machine automatically (choosing shutdown now from it's menu does work). The log shows sudo: sorry, a password is required to run sudo (sudo -n) or the infamous "no tty and no askpass". (plain sudo)
I have added /sbin/shutdown to the sudoers file, and I can run sudo /sbin/shutdown -h now from the terminal and shutdown without a password... but sudo will NOT run from mythtv. I've even tried adding a special exception to the sudoers file, "Defaults !requiretty" with no luck. This is a dedicated frontend/backend with no user access (doesn't boot a desktop manager; goes straight to Mythtv) so I'm no too worried about potential security; the machine is on a LAN and cannot be accessed from the WAN side.
YaST2 now does not have an "Online Update Configuration" anymore.Where are we supposed to setup automatic update installation? In Gnome there is an item for this in the Gnome Update Applet, but there is nothing equivalent in the KDE Updater Applet.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I create a new user account and login the first time to Gnome a series of files and directories is created in the user's home directory. Those directories are for example:
.ICEauthority

.dbus

Documents
Musik
Videos
Vorlagen
ffentlich
How can I control what files and directories are created? I checked /etc/skel but none of those entries where there. In particular, I do not want to have the folders "Bilder", "Documents", "Musik", "Videos", "Vorlagen" and "ffentlich" being created.
I created a profile for Yast Backup and successfully executed it manually. However, when I set up the Automatic Backup with the same profile it doesn't work. It will start at the scheduled time and do the "search" part of it but it hangs before it creates the archive. These two processes (backup_cron & y2base) remains running and never terminates.
Here are the last few lines in the Yast log before it hangs:

There is a new openFATE proposal (http://features.opensuse.org/311661) to add a desktop icon to the Live CD's that will use smolt to provide feedback for hardware options that work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI enabled Automatic Online Updates in opensuse 11.2, and set the frequency to "Daily", but after 24 hours I haven't seen an update. It may be because I had YaST still running and maybe the installed software database was locked. At any rate,ow can I verify that Automatic Online Updates are scheduled?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got my problem with KDE Desktop. I'm using openSUSE 11.2 and KDE 4.4, when I make updates to my YaST repositories. I am a full file system usage in. / then I delete the file / var / tmp, because large files up to 4 GB. KDE Desktop then I could not run ranymore.
I was googling and found KDE/KDE4 - openSUSE when I try to execute this command:
kbuildsycoca4
kquitapp plasma-desktop> / dev / null 2> & 1
kstart plasma-desktop &> / dev / null 2> & 1
KDE Desktop can run normally but does not like the first time before the crash. And my KDE Desktop not automatic start.
Where an i found log from KDE DEsktop. I had searched on /var/log/messages, /var/log/kdm.
And how the best solution if I want to restore OPensuse.?
I have a machine I have already installed 11.3 on. How do I set it so it has a automatic login for a specific user into the KDE desktop? I looked in YAST but didn't see anything obvious to enable that behavior.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded from 11.2 to 11.3 my Dell Inspiron 5100 with LAN adapter Edimax Ew-7711utn. It was working fine under 11.2, without using Network Manager. The old RT2870 driver was loaded and wpa_supplicant started at boot time. But it does not connect any more automatically with 11.3. The nl80211 almost universal driver seems to be missing, wpa_supplicant is not launched during the boot process, and no connection to the AP is therefore made. I have tried quickly NetworkManager but it is of no help in this case. There is still a long way to go to make it a reliable clever tool. So, back to the ifup method, I can only connect manually with this small script :
#!/bin/sh
echo "Starting mywifi "
/usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf -Dwext -B
sleep 2
/sbin/dhclient wlan0
echo ""
route add -net default gw 192.168.0.1
sleep 3
iwconfig
exit 0
It works, but I am not happy at all to have to run this bad script, and would like to understand the origin of this regression, and why is nl80211 not found.
Just ran into this issue with Suse 11.2. Everytime I try to change the desktop wallpaper, plasma crashes and returns me to the log in screen. This is the first time this has happened and it happens no matter what wallpaper I choose. Desktop effects are OFF. Strange that adding widgets to the desktop does NOT cause this crash, just changing the desktop wallpaper. The computer is using 855GM Intel Chipset.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a new HP printer and had to install the latest HPLIP version. I had to compile it and install it from source. In order to avoid interferences with the installed version, I had first removed the installed version. But now Yast wants to re-install this old version with any package installation or upgrade because it sees unresolved dependencies. How can I stop it to add this packages? Or how can I tell Yast that the hplip packages are installed?

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy friend updated kernel today and it "stopped working" and I was asked to fix it he is new to linux, and I don't have physical access to that notebook from what I know main problems are:
1. no network devices exist (except for loopback)
2. sound card driver is missing (nVidia MCP79)
3. in grub menu after choosing new kernel uname -r sais the old one's version
wifi card is atheros, but I don't know specific model.
in the last few days, Kpackagekit, which I use to update my system (openSUSE 11.4) had some difficulties to
1. install updates for flashplugin, because whenever you accept the license, Kpackagekit closes, and starts from beginning = a never ending cycle is started
2. fetch updates from Packman. It always throws a message with connection timeout - in Zypper and YaST no such problem occurs
Thats why I have fiddled around in YaST online update and found a feature "automatic online update". For that you need an extra package yast-online-update-configuration. I installed it and configured it to do automatic Updates.
So now I have a question on how it works. Because I have some additional repos activated: KDE updated Apps, KDE extra and the KDE release 4.6 repo, which brings the most recent KDE updates for KDE 4.6.
These repos have priority 90 whereas all the other repos - Packman, OSS, Non-OSS, Contrib etc. have prio 99.
Will YaST install all the updates from KDE with this setup? I am asking, because when I did online updates in Yast before, with prio 99 for the KDE repos, it did not update them, unless I choosed, "Packages --> update all, if newer version is available". I would like to set Kpackagekit into silent and just stick with YaST for that, but have an automatic system update.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter installing opensuse 11.4, the kmail program does not automatically check spelling. It worked perfectly in 11.3. Kmail is now 1.13.6. I click Settings > Spellchecker, and it has checked automatic spell checking enabled by default. I click on ok, and the spell checker starts working for a little while. If I click Tools > Spelling it brings up the spell checker box, and that works perfectly. But then, when it's finished, the automatic spell checking is turned off again? There are times when even Settings > Spellchecker will not turn on automatic checking. I haven't figured out yet what triggers the complete failure. What can I do to make it do automatic spell checking when composer starts, without having to remember to click anything? And so that it stays on always?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a file like this code...
I would like to use sed or similar to remove everything before the period, but only for the lines 1 and 3 (or lines with a-z.a-z and not a-z = 0-9.0-9.0-9.0-9)
I found a way to do this using:
cat $file | sed 's/[.].*//'
But this 1)remove all the text AFTER the period and not before it, and 2) removes everything after the first decimal of the IP address.
