I installed the Eclipse IDE using Ubuntu packages. (Version 3.5.1. Package name:eclipse).A few days back, version 3.5.2 was released. I would like to update, so I added the following websites to the list of available ones:
[URL]
I then tried with Check for Updates. While on my Mac installation this results in an update to 3.5.2, on Ubuntu the program says there is nothing to update.If I try to install manually, choosing Install New Software and the then selecting the Eclipse Platform 3.5.2, I get the following error:
Cannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency.
Software being installed: Eclipse Platform 3.5.2.M20100211-1343 (org.eclipse.platform.ide 3.5.2.M20100211-1343)
Software currently installed: Eclipse Platform 3.5.1 (Eclipse Platform 3.5.1)
Only one of the following can be installed at once:

it is possible to update the packaged verison of Eclipse or if I should install the binary from the website?

how to update my system online (for example my firefox 3.0 to 3.5) but i can't figure out how this possibly works. I tried the "online update" using Yast2 but apparently (according to Yast) there is nothing at all to be patched on my system. I tried to click on the Firefox-3.5.5 rpm in the repository web-interface and open it using "install software" but the process aborts because of unresolved dependencies. Is there an easy way to update software without having to download/install every dependency manually?

I already install mplayer-mt manually from git repository. Now, I want to install gnome-mplayer but it require me to install vanilla mplayer again.
Is there a way to tell that dependency already met ? Or should I just make mplayer-mt package by myself ? (this kinda work in ubuntu)

I got a new hard drive in and decided to do a completely new install of 11.4 64 on my "testing/spare machine:. I have my dual monitors configured properly But I ran into two issues. When doing a manual post install update from the 11.4 updates repo I have one file that will not play happily named cronie. When trying to install the application wspr from the hamradio repo I get the following error for an unsatisfied dependency. I have the same application installed on another 11.4 installation on this system and it didn't choke on this file.

I try to update my openSUSE system from 11.2 to 11.3. But I stumble on the following message.
Code:
Sonne:~ # zypper up zypper
...
Problem: libsnmp15-5.4.2.1-11.2.1.x86_64 requires librpm.so.0()(64bit), but this requirement cannot be provided
...
I wonder why the library is not found at the moment. (The command "rpm --query --provides rpm" shows that it is available here of course.)
Would you like to share any advices to resolve this dependency?

I get following error during automatic patch upgrade of my SuSE 11.2 to latest path revision. I assume it is due to the KDE 4.3.5 Update part of the patch set: compiz-kde4-0.7.8-9.14.x86_64 requires libkdecorations.so.4()(64 bit) but there are no providers. The package manager suggest to replace compiz-kde4-0.7.8-9.14.x86_64 with kwin-4.3.5-0.2.1.x86_64 but I don't want to loose compiz-kde. which repository I must add to resolve the dependency.

I am using OpenSuse 11.4(32 bit) on my Lenovo B460 laptop, and as the title points, am unable to use wireless on it. The 'enable wireless' option from icon menu is not greyed out, however clicking it does nothing, it remains disabled.
lspci -vv shows:
"04:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller (rev 01)
Subsystem: Broadcom Corporation Device 0510
Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx-
[code]....
so it seems that opensuse knows my hardware but networkmanager doesn't! I have all broadcom packages installed as well as kernel-firmware installed.

I have just had an auto-update, and the process has stopped with the warning above. The full error message is given below. I had already had problems (not sure if they're somehow resolved or related to this) with updating [URL]. I'm using OpenSUSE 11.3 64-bit on a Lenovo G560. I'm able to establish both wired and unwired connections without problems. Now I'm in a situation where I'd like to share my laptop's internet connection with other devices. My thought was to establish an ad-hoc network that another computer could connect to wirelessly in order to get into the Internet, because I've only got one ethernet jack.
First thought was to use Network Manager, since that manages all my connections. A left click on the Network Manager icon brings up a menu in which "Wireless 802.11, Create network connection..." is an option. If I click on that I see a list of all the networks available in the area, as well as all the networks I've set up in the past. Below that are two options: "New Ad-Hoc Network" and "Connect To Other Network With Wireless 802.11..."
"New Ad-Hoc Network" seems like the right option, but when I double click on it the window closes and nothing happens. No error message, nothing. Network Manager continues to run and my connection is unchanged. If I just left click on it and then click "Connect" at the bottom of the window, the same thing happens.

Wireless worked fine on live cd, but for some reason not after install. I think maybe the driver is not loading, but I am a pretty much still a noob, so my opinion isn't worth much. If it is the driver not loading, I don't know what to do to fix it. Here is my wireless output information.

Not being connected to the wifi makes this step tricky

I'm trying to install a Linksys WUSB600n dual-band USB wireless-N adapter onto a desktop system with opensuse 11.1 installed; this system will be migrating to a back porch with no cabling access, hence the wireless solution. Everything works fine under Windows XP, but on Linux, not so much. Hardware info is as follows; there is no "Wireless LAN" entry, but there is a USB entry:
99: udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_1737_71_noserial'
info.subsystem = 'usb_device'
usb_device.vendor = 'Linksys'
usb_device.bus_number = 1 (0x1)
linux.subsystem = 'usb'
usb_device.product = 'Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adapter'
info.product = 'Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adapter'

I am trying to connect to wireless broadband using SuSE 11.2 and a Huawei E160E USB modem, through Internode Australia.
Networkmanager does not seem to recognise the modem so I am trying other means. I believe I have got wvdial to connect (it reports a correct IP address, the light on the stick goes solid blue and I can ping external IP addresses). However it can't find a DNS nameserver and I can't work out how to provide one to wvdial, and therefore can't do anything through the connection (I would rather not revert to ifup because this laptop travels between WLANs). I followed swerdna's comprehensive instructions on setting up a wireless broadband modem in YAST, but I got lost on the very last instruction: KMenu --> KInternet. I can't find this on my application launcher.

On my opensuse 11.1 system. I used my tp-link tl-wn321g usb wireless adapter to access the internet. It runs on rt2501 chipset and I used the serial monkey rt73 driver from here.
[URL]
What I did was I installed the kernel-headers, kernel source, gcc and make. And then I cd to the module directory and did
Code:
make
make install
modprobe rt73
[Code].....
I installed "ralink-firmware-1.1-1.5.noarch.rpm" from Software.openSUSE.org. I tried "make" again, but still the same error return.

I finally installed openSUSE along side ubuntu and xp in my ThinkPad EDGENow I am facing issue with toggling the wi-fi, I had no such problem in ubuntu.Seems like there is some issue in the thinkpad-acpi module.I use fn+F9 to toggle the wifi, which toggles both bluetooh and wifi, but on openSUSE it only toggles bluetooth.acpi_listen in ubuntu gives me the below result when I press fn+F9ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001005but in openSUSE its blank but bluetooth gets toggled. dmesg from ubuntu:
Code:
$ dmesg | grep acpi

That was until I upgraded to 11.2 using the guide here.

The upgrade went well, but I could no longer use my wireless adapter. I tried installing the driver again but when I tried to run "make", it says
Code:
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.31.8-0.1-pae/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
rt73.ko failed to build!
make: *** [module] Error 1
I've checked that kernel-headers, kernel-source, gcc and make are all installed.
I installed "ralink-firmware-1.1-1.5.noarch.rpm" from Software.openSUSE.org. I tried "make" again, but still the same error return.
