OpenSUSE :: Vsftpd Chroot - Cannot Upload - 550 Permission Denied Critical File Transfer Error

I have a problem with uploading any file to my Suse 11.1 with vsftpd. The active (not commented out) settings in my /etc/vsftpd.conf are:
dirmessage_enable=YES
chroot_local_user=YES
local_enable=YES
anonymous_enable=NO
syslog_enable=YES
connect_from_port_20=YES
pasv_enable=YES
listen=YES
ssl_enable=NO
And I added umask 022 to the user login script problem I have: I login with user and password that exists as a local user on my suse machine. I can read and download from my homedirectory, but I cannot upload with filezilla. Then I get the error: 550 permission denied critical file transfer error

I've got that vsftpd running on a ubuntu 9.10 machine. Although I cannot upload any file, I always get a "550: Permission denied"-error.

I have got centos 5.3 running on my system. I have installed vsftpd and created a separate folder to upload files (upload folder created in/var/ftp/pub). From my client end I can download ftp files but when I try to upload files from my client I get a error message 550: permission denied. The upload folder has full permission ie 777. Checked the ftp config file everything looks ok.

I ftp into the server and see the files, but when i try to make a directory or upload a file it returns an error saying that permission is denied.I am wanting the users to be able to log on with their user account and then be able to have full control over their directories. What can i do to fix this problem?I have enabled port forwarding for ftp. What else is there i can do? If you need any extra information, let me know! I have proftpd @ Ubuntu 9.04 server. It authenticates users via Auth file, e.g. those are "FTP only" users, not real linux users. Each of them has assigned home dir in the same auth file. They also get Chrooted into it, e.g. default dir is ~ in proftpd.conf They can connect and download files successfully, however, they cannot upload anything or create directory: 550 permission denied error.
When I login via ssh and change user to proftpd user, I can create directories in that particular place, so I guess it's not Linux permissions problem? Or is it? /var/log/daemon.log is the place where proftpd stores its logs, but I cannot find anything relevant there

I have two questions. 1- How can I set up FTP server for the first time on the Centos? 2-I want to give the ftp user full root access in the directory of /var/www/html so he would be able to upload or download files and folders without getting "FTP Critical file transfer error". I have a ubuntu server 10.04 with LAMP installed. I also have ubuntu 10.10 on a laptop and can copy files to the server fine. To keep my website uptodate, I usually use Filezilla without any problems. I have just installed Fedora 14 on an old desktop and set up "my stall" ok. The problem is that I cannot copy any files from Ferdoa to the server due to:-
Response: 550 Permission denied.
Error: Critical file transfer error
I have tried to change the directory on the server "/var/www" using chmod -R 775* and chmod -R 777*, but it makes no difference, the file transfer still fails.

I have two questions.
1- The vfstpd is running on the Centos server. The server is in the same home network. The SeLinux and firewall are disabled. I can use Filzilla from a Windows PC from another computer and connect and see directory listing. There is a user names adminftp and he is a memeber of root group. When I try to upload or download I get an ftp critical error message.
2- How can I install Adobe Acrobat Reader, Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave on this Linux box?

Here is the log from account creation, could the last line be causing the problems?
I had some hassle with the last two iptables lines but once I took away RH-Firewall-1 from those lines iptables gave no error anymore.
I changed this: -A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 21 -j ACCEPT
To this: -A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 21 -j ACCEPT

I am trying to wade through the semanage jungle to get permissions for a tftp client. I followed the HowTos [URL] but I get the following at the client:
tftp> status
Connected to 192.168.1.101.
Mode: netascii Verbose: off Tracing: off
Rexmt-interval: 5 seconds, Max-timeout: 25 seconds
tftp> get hello.o4
tftp: hello.o4: Permission denied
I finally figured out that the firewall directives shown at the end of the HowTo refer to semanage although the options are stated incorrectly according to the man page for semanage. I did insure that the file hello.o4 in /tftpboot has read permission for everybody.

Quite a few times i have boot puppy linux live and have tried to copy file from the underlying NTFS windows HD only to get an error like permission denied when i try and copy a file to say a USB stick, i think some files copy but i seem to get permission errors with some files.

I have created a new file system (fuse) which works fine and is mounted in the local host. I want to be able to mount it from another host. I added it to /ect/exports: /mnt/ltfs *(rw,sync) And restarted nfs. Then from my client host I type:
mount -t nfs myHostName:/mnt/ltfs /mnt/data1
Where /mnt/ltfs is on my local host and /mnt/data1 is on the client host. Note that this is a "FUSE" file system so here is it's local "mount" output: ltfs on /mnt/ltfs type fuse (rw,nosuid,nodev,default_permissions,allow_other) Note thet this is of type "ltfs" but I am told that it should work like its a nfs. ltfs uses fuse under the covers.

I've been searching the web, without finding any sollution to my problem.vsFTPd is acting really weird. I've never seen this problem before, and I've been using vsftpd for some years nowWell.. The thing is, I've made a user that chroots to the folder /var/www on my server. And when I then try to chmod the file /var/www/htdocs/testsite/index.html through my ftp-client, I only get the error "550 SITE CHMOD command failed.", and when I then check in my /var/log/vsftpd.log it says

I have an old Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra, and I installed Gnomad2. When I plug the usb cord in the Zen lights up.

I have a centos server installation running, and have installed and configured vsftpd.
FileZilla works great. I am able to connect and transfer files both ways. I used this just for testing purposes.

I have a shared directory on another machine but I can't get it to mount. The permission denied doesn't say where/which permission is denied. Is it on the remote on on the local machine? The remote has sharing enabled for the shareddocs directory and after I have mkdir'ed the local mount point I open it's permissions too.
The verbose response from mount.cfis looks like this:
mount.cifs kernel mount options: unc=//192.168.1.102shareddocs,domain=WORKGROUP,ver=1,rw ,username=clive,,,,,,,,,,,ip=192.168.1.102,pass=** ******
mount error(13): Permission denied
Refer to the mount.cifs( manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) The man page does not have a list of error codes.

When trying to mount samba share off of domain member server sysimage in Windows receive error "There are currently no logon servers available to service this logon request". When trying to mount.cifs from PDC to samba share on sysimage receive error "mount error(13): Permission denied".
PDC is ClearOS 5.2 named "dc0"
Samba file server is CentOS 5.5 x86_64 named "sysimage"
dc0 Samba version is samba - 3.5.5-1.1.v5.i386
sysimage Samba version is samba-3.0.33-3.29.el5_5.1.x86_64
dc0 is configured correctly to my knowledge, windows machines can join domain, domain users can log into windows machines, user directories are mapped properly, logon scripts run properly. sysimage ldap authentication is set up as shown in "Procedure 7.1.

I am trying to put a file from one linux machine to my other linux machine. There is absolutely no problem in downloading the file i.e. performing the "get" operation but when I try to upload or "put file" from my host1 to host2 it throws error "Error 0 Permission denied". I am able to put files from host2 to host1 without any problem but not from host1 to host. Infact if I try to tftp even localhost on host2 it throws the same error. Here is my

I had Fedora 8 installed in few clients and a server (same server for NFS and NIS), and NIS and NFS configured, and was working fine. Yesterday, I upgraded few client computers to Fedora 15 (server is still same), and configured NFS and NIS client. NFS is working fine, I can see home directories.

I'm having a permissions problem with Ubuntu and apache. There are two users, I'll just call them A and B. All of the files belong to A and group root. I'm logged in as B and I have admin privileges. My website is working just fine but when I create a directory in the web root, change the owner to A on the directory and all files I still get a Permission Denied error when I try to access it from the web. I've also set permissions to rxwr-xr-x on the directory and all the files. So I don't understand what's going on. Why am I still getting a permission denied error?

I want to use SSH to connect to my desktop. I have used Ubuntu 10.10's encryption to encrypt my home folder (thus encrypting my .ssh folder). This means that the OpenSSH doesn't have access to my .ssh folder. When I try to log into SSH before logging in on the local machine I get the following error:
