I installed Virtual Box on my oSS 11.2 install the other day, and installed XP on it. I want to use itunes to sync my iTouch, so I can KILL that gosh-awful thing Microscared calls Vista.

The problem is that, when I unplug the iPod it tells me to "Please use iTunes to sync music". The music IS IN the iPod, I don't know what's happening.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI use jpilot on opensuse 11.3 64bit to sync pim data with my Palm Treo 680 via bluetooth. This worked fine until today. Now I get the following error message when I try to sync: Syncing on device bt: Press the HotSync button now dlp_ReadSysInfo error Exiting with status YNC_ERROR_PI_CONNECT Finished.
The last successfull sync was on the 20th October and today is the 24th October. I did not change any settings in jpilot or on my palm device. So I guess there must have been an update of opensuse which causes this error. But I do not now how to look up the updates during this period or how to undo them. Was there an update between the 20th and the 24th Oktober, which might affect either jpilot or bluetooth functionality?
I'm looking for the best iTunes alternative that has almost these features:
- being able to edit the track's name/album (songs in the iPod)
- adjusting volume of tracks
I'm currently using Rhythmbox. I have tried Exaile and Amarok just doesn't work for me. I can't recall what made me turn away from Banshee, too. I'm not really into Wine so installing iTunes itself is not viable.
I just got a new iphone (yay me) but later realised that as I have Ubuntu, it is very difficult to get itunes installed on it.
Having said that, I've got Wine installed and attempted to download itunes 7.something and even though the whole process worked, it appears that when I try to access itunes the whole screen goes black and then if I scroll across the screen with my mouse it lights up various bits of what's behind the black screen and then after a while it tells me that it cannot access itunes at all...
So I thought, perhaps I should uninstall itunes, but in doing that it still appeared in my wine folder, so I uninstalled wine, which still appeared in my Applications list, so I edited my applications list and then tried to re-install wine from scratch (I know I sound dumb already - but I was desperate ok!!!). So now wine is installed on my computer somewhere but it now doesn't show up in my Applications list at all and I can't seem to get it back on there - any suggestions there would also help...
But my main objective is to try and uninstall itunes properly (maybe from the terminal window - but I don't know how to even do that) and attempt to re-install it to see if it works again.
I need to do this in order to sync my iphone. Cannot seem to do it with Amarok as I don't have Installer.Apps on my iphone, and cannot get THAT without syncing it with itunes to begin with....
Normally, when ever I have an issue with ubuntu (which, for me, is often; I'm quite new), theres generally an error message to google, but such is not the case this time. So, I finally got my itouch to sync with gtkpod, but I accidentally messed up the process and didn't do the first sync properly, which meant the Firewire GUID wasn't properly set up, which then means every time I try to add music, it takes up space, but isn't recognized by the device. Well, I ended up find out and fixing the problem, but now my ipod has about 1g of music on it that is not recognized by my ipod, and thus, very hard to find and delete. Is there a way to get my space back, without formatting the itouch?

I cannot see it in 'gparted' or 'disk utility' but I can see it on sys log and kern log when I plug it in and remove it.
I have visited several help forums and loaded several types of recommended software (ifuse-libs and mux's etc) but with no satisfactory result.
I have successfully 'Jail broken' the device using 'Blackra1n' on a windows machine.

I am using itunes on Windows to listen to different radio shows and I am interested if there is any application in openSUSE that can automatically read the link to the podcast as it is present on apple's page.I found a way to play the podcast thru Amarok but I had to convert somehow the link from apple to some xml that Amarok can understand. I then start Win XP Mode. The computer goes through 25 minutes or so of setting up XP mode for 'first use'. At the end, a message appears: "Could not complete setup. Please try again". On one of these computers, the ubuntuone-syncdaemon process constantly pegs the CPU, using from 50-80% long after any sync-able files have been modified and successfully synced. The process is only using 8.9MB of RAM.
Specs:
Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid)
Kernel 2.6.32-24-generic
1000.8 MB RAM
Pentium 4 2.53GHz
Free disk space: 280.9 GB
System monitor shows 56.8% total RAM usage, 15.4% swap file usage.

My date and time is not syncing correctly. I have 2 opensuse 11.1 servers and on both when you adjust the time in yast, I go back into yast and the setting for the NTP server is not set and "manual" is checked. I tried many times and the setting keeps reverting back. I always click on Save NTP configuration.
