I have connected and used external display 1920x1080After disconnecting the display it looks like panel remained huge size and I can not resize it as panel button is outside of the desktop:You see the same button in the top right corner? I'm missing exact one in the bottom right corner

am unable to add new workspaces to the panel and by default it is four only. When installed fedora for the first time I could add up to 36 orkspaces (fedora 10). I have tried deleting adding back the panels but no use

The document opens in OpenOffice Writer but the logo is visible at the natural size only; as soon as I enlarge/reduce the picture, either by changing the view resolution or resizing the picture, it just disappears. It happens both in Edit mode and in Print PreviewI tried to export the graphic to a separate image but it did not work. There is a command Save graphics in the context-sensitive menu; it is undocumented either in the Customisation dialogue I used that command and the resulting image was blank. Copy/paste to GIMP via the X Clipboard gives the same blank result.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi was so happy using the window buttons applet in gnome panel. it was working fine in maximize window , now suddenly i find the close button has vanished i tried to remove and re install, changed theme and all the jugglery within my limits... have absolutely no idea what went wrong, any clue ? to get back the "CLOSE" button ? its funny with just the minimize and restore button visible in maximised mode... its the close button i use most in maximise mode

I recently made it so that I have a transparent terminal (with no title bar, borders, etc.) docked onto my desktop, but the one thing I can't get rid of is the ugly-looking resize button hanging out by itself in the middle of the screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhy don't JACK windows behave in the standard way windows have, on every piece of software. for all OS's for many years? I haven't had the opportunity to test Jack audio in/out yet because of these problems. However, Jack does appear to start and indicates it is connected. After the Jack control panel loads normaly and appears to be connected, if I open the patchbay or messages panels, they cant be closed as individual windows. To close them I must QUIT Jack, and reopen, and reconnect. There is no exit button on the upper right corner of these windows.
If I right-click on these windows, the close option is shaded, preventing it's use. The Jack control panel does not appear to have drop-down menus to close them, either. If I accidentally do click the button in the upper right corner, which is habitual, the window will maximize to a scale that is somewhat larger than the size of the desktop on my screen, making resizing by dragging edges (top, bottom, corner) impossible. If I right click on the Jack Window's title bar (top) I can resize the window to my preference by clicking this option on the drop-down menu. It took me three or four weeks to find this option.
Also, I've seen some posts regarding Jack problems related to Firefox. Does Jack actually start Firefox when it opens or is connected? My system can't afford to have background processes or applications. System resources are too limited. I don't understand the difficulties involved with making Jack windows function as others do. It seems to my uneducated self, for example, that if the development of Jack had been done on some "visual" high level language, (Like C/C++ or Java, for example) making the windows function like others packages would simply be a matter of dragging GUI elements and defining their functions.
Here's a list of my system:
Old Single processor Intel box, P4, 3.0 GHz, with one Gig DDR memory
A old Sound Blaster 16 sound card. (works okay with linux)
(all hardware seems to be fully functional in all other Linux programs)
Linux Mint, (version 8) derived from Debian.
Ubuntu Studio, (version 10.4) also Debian.
Jack (version 0.3.4) on both distros. (Mint updated through repository< I believe, but I culd be wrong)
Firefox (version 3.5.9)
I prefer GUI solutions, but can generally get along okay with a terminal or file editor window. When it's absolutely necessary. The windows behave the same if I have another audio program running or not. The system works fine with ALSA drivers (MIDI.)
I am using OpenSuse 11.2 with KDE, there was some kind of plasma thing on the desktop containing shortcuts to system status, etc...
I moved it to the second monitor and after a reboot it was not there nor anywhere else. How could I restore it?
I am running Open Suse 11.2 and did an update this weekend to get the latest patches and after a required reboot I no longer have a desktop panel or access to the computer menus, etc. I get to a login screen and I can see the panel at that point, but after I login I just get a desktop background. I can see the system is booting up and the "connect to wireless network succesful" comes up too, I just can't see the desktop panel. Anything I can try to get it back?I am running this on an IBM T42p laptop and the xgl graphics are sweet but seems to have stopped as well.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter a fresh 11.2 KDE install on a second PC, the starting desktop exhibited a transparent panel, with "Desktop Folder" as a title, and five (5) icons. In the course of modifying the desktop icons, this was deleted. I have looked, searched, Google'd etc, to find a process to restore this transparent folder. No luck so far. I have placed the icons back, all works correctly, though I would like to know how to recreate this transparent rectangular panel. (My other two Linux PC's are Gnome (one openSUSE 11.2 and one Ubuntu 9.10).

Also I noticed that fedora 15 is casing my laptop to run hotter than windows 7.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I just updated my IdeaPad to Natty and played around with Unity. The performane was absolutely unbearable so I installed Unity2D from the software center. Now when I start the session everything seems to be fine at first. Whenever I move the mouse over the panel though it seems to switch to my old gnome-panel from the "Classic" session (with some missing icons). When I move the mouse over that panel again it switches back to the Unity panel style. What is going on? Can I fix this somehow? I will have to use the classic session until I get a working consistent behavior
