I've had a lot of bad luck with Linux, but I decided to try openSUSE 11.3, which is extremely more sufficient than Windows, regardless of how complex it makes things more than in Windows. Anyway, is there a program like Rocketdock that can operate on Linux?

I tried this once with an application that I run in Ubutnu but the next time I turned on my laptop something horrible happened.My KDE was turned into Gnome,but with worse graphics!-something like Xfce-
I've downloaded VideoLan (VLC) via Yast but the icon was placed in the audio folder. How do I move it to the video player folder? Also, where are additional icons stored? I run SuSE 11.2 (boxed version) with KDE.

a) Scenario: GRUB crashes or is modified/deleted.. (Obviously not due to ME... I'm and expert even though I just installed OpenSuse 11.4.... about 10 seconds ago..... if you know what I mean).
b) Scenario: Installed/Updated SOMETHING and everything went weird.. (can't boot, nothing runs, KDE/GNOME is dead, end up at a command prompt but I don't know any commands!!!)
Now I had an excellent OpenSuse running..... WHAT do I download to backup, WHAT do I back up so I can do a FRESH Operating System install (SuSe) and restore the rest (or most of it).

I'm running KDE 3.5.10 on openSUSE 11.2, and when I run KDE4 apps, such as ktorrent or kopete, they don't show up in the tray. But when I run them under KDE4, they do show up in the tray.

In recent versions of KDE4, I have been able to assign the application menu to the right mouse button. In 4.6, the only thing that appears is Desktop Settings. Does anyone know when the fix for this will be included in KDE 4.6 updates? And, is it possible to move to a previous version of KDE in 11.4?
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor the past day or so, mysqld has been hogging one of my two CPUs. On System Monitor, I tried "kill" and then "forcibly kill" when that button appeared on the menu but all that happened was a new mysqld popped up to take its place. I've since found that killing Akonadi first and then the forcible kill did the job so the problem seems to be solved. What bothers me, is what was it trying to do? I don't use the application. I wondered whether Thunderbird might use it so closed that down and rebooted but mysqld was still there. I suppose now I've got rid of that one - for now - I'll get knotify4 grabbing a cpu again. At least knotify4 is easy to kill - but then xorg usually takes over and I have to end the session.

So many years ago I installed an Xmystique 71 gold card. Works great, but only for one app. I pause a movie and want to crank some tunes it gives me fits. I am not a fan of this. I love my opensuse raid 10 but the sound is just killing me. Should I disable the Xmystique card and enable the default motherboard shwag? The embedded sound really is not that bad and should it give me a solution, as in I can utilize sound in more than one app at a time, I will gladly take it. I mean who does not want to utilize amarok whithout shutting down ..... or vlc or kaffeine or whatever.
