In recent versions of KDE4, I have been able to assign the application menu to the right mouse button. In 4.6, the only thing that appears is Desktop Settings. Does anyone know when the fix for this will be included in KDE 4.6 updates? And, is it possible to move to a previous version of KDE in 11.4?

When I try to open some file, including directories, "Open with..." window appears.
Not sure if this is a bug or not, but the popup menu is now gone. using KDE 4.4.4 opensuse 11.3. Anyone with an idea of what go hosed, or needs to be unset? where in the .kde directory is the file that needs to be changed?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst things first, I've just moved from Ubuntu with Gnome to openSuse with KDE. So I'm lost as doing some things in this environment. However, I'm loving what I'm seeing with suse/kde combo. I'm planning on making an extensive right-click menu to categorize all my applications. Basically I want to have the "start" menu available to me when I right-click. I've google casually for a couple days and haven't found much that helps, but I think its because I'm not using the correct keywords seeing as I'm new to this environment.
I have a feeling I'm going to have to make a [Desktop Entry], but I'm not sure how to handle hierarchy and stuff like that.
After I adjust my slackware and rebooted I saw a strange "rectangle" on my desktop. Please, look at the screenshots below and tell me how I should solve this problem.
I can't move it. Right-click menu on a rectangle coincides with a right-click on desktop. It does not prevent, but very annoying.
I changed the kde desktop layout to Search and Launch on an 11.3 64-bit machine and lost the ability to bring up a right-click menu on the desktop, also tried it on an 11.3 32 bit machine and experienced the exact same thing how I can solve this even if it means reverting to the default layout? I suppose I could delete and re-create the user's /home but I'm wondering if there's a way to solve this without resorting to that On the one machine I've put 11.4 on so far it's using the search and launch layout with absolutely no problems at all and finding it very handy
the 11.4 machine I'm using this layout on actually logs onto the 11.3 64 bit machine I first had the problem with via nis and an nfs /home export For the user it's working fine under I set the search and launch layout from the 11.4 machine, the user I'm getting the problem with on the 64-bit machine (nis/nfs server) was set on the server itself. The 11.3 32 bit machine however, I disabled nis and nfs so that it would use local logons and /home only so it seems to be an issue with 11.3 itself and regardless of cpu architecture
Ok, first is it possible to take a program I wrote and make it to be a entry in the right menu of a file browser program.
Also, can this happen if the program is developed in Java?

I got sick to DEATH of Adobe AIR and TweetDeck screwing up constantly, and then Adobe announces there will be no more Adobe AIR for Linux. Fine, screw 'em, I'll switch to something else. So I hunt around for the options, most of which suck. Then I discover Choqok is already installed on my machine (11.4). Except the POS doesn't work.
To use it, I have to authenticate with my Twitter account. So I click Add, select Twitter, it pops up the dialog. I leave the alias as Twitter, click the authenticate with Twitter button. The Firefox icon pops up and bounces around - but Firefox is already running. So nothing happens! No Twitter access, no page loaded, nothing. I shut down Firefox, try it again. Same deal. As usual, no one bothered to test this POS software before releasing it. how to get this **** to authenticate to Twitter in the absence of ANY useful documentation for this junk?
I'm brand new to Linux and Ubunto 10.04.On the menu bar at the top of my desktop I seem to have attracted some kind of bug!The Log Out Symbol repeats itself across almost the entire menu bar and I cannot remove it. If I remove other buttons from the menu the space is immediately replaced by more Log Out Buttons.When I hover on the icon I get the message 'Log out of this session to log in as a different user' and when I right-cllick to click on 'Remove from Panel' or 'Move' nothing happens.It is not possible to right-click on another part of the menu bar to change the Menu Properties.

Problem is that I cant click on dropbox, caffeine, battery indicator, wlan or sound indicator until I first click on messages menu and slide over to appindicator that I need. When screenlets appindicator is not present there is no problem. Its the same when I had Jupiter installed.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSuddenly the application launcher (the one that pops out when pressing the green chameleon button) has changed and I no longer get the formerly so pretty application launcher. Instead I now get a simple context menu style drop down menu.
I first noticed this after I updated PackageKit. is there a way to get this back to the previous applicationn launcher. When adding just the applet (without the button) it still looks the same, just the button doesn't pop it out anymore, as it chose to pop out a grey drop down instead.
This is on OpenSuse 11.4 KDE 4.5 and the latest desktop kernel
So I want to get mount/umount option under right click services menu. I went to Dolphin -> Settings -> Configure Dolphin -> Services -> Download New Services and from there I installed KDE CDEmu Emulator and MountISO. But neither of them is showing up in actual context menu. Neither in Dolphin -> Settings -> Configure Dolphin -> Services for that matter. I tried to install them as normal user and as a root. I went to have a peak in /usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/ but they aren't there as well... It's just me or lots of things seems to be not quite working in 11.3?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi am having a problem on Ubuntu 10.10. In system menu, there is no Administration or Preferences menu.Also, application menu does not show anything. I am using Ubuntu since 2 weeks and still not used to to the terminal commands for running applications and admin tools.
one more thing.When i booted my PC today it reported an error and process terminated before reaching the login window. So i restarted and chose recovery mode. it also reported some errors and tried to fix the problem. it deleted some files i think. and my system is working again but with above mentioned problem.
where can I change the single click into a double click (because I'm a windows user (sorry!))? The mouse model does not support this.

Still learning linux , and as a reminder from interesting pages I always print pdf, but that is a bit long and sensitive navigation throughout screen to the File/Print menu, than select this and that. I remember seeing it long time ago (v8 or 9) adding the print command to the 3rd mouse button or right click. I'm googleing for this but not much luck, anybody can direct me to a detailed "howto" ?
just want to report "Right Mouse Click Freeze" on Ubuntu 10.10. When I click on anything with my right mouse button to open options menu it freezes and does not open menu. Sometimes when I shake my mouse left/right a bit it opens that menu, but this does not work always. It seems like xserver issue, but I'm not sure since I'm not expert in linux yet. It's very annoying issue that I would like to resolve asap.

It all works great and it looks good, except for one annoying problem I didnt think of. When I'm playing a game that I need to right-click to perform an action, the menu pops up. (Think StarCraft. Right click to move) Basically what I'm asking is if there is a way to add exception to this? the menu will come up as long as it is not clicked on certain windows?
Hi, here's hoping you can help me with this minor annoyance. If I right-click on the desktop I get no menu. I recently installed Zorin, a form of Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid. In the course of 'setting up' my install, I lost this ability and, having made so many changes so rapidly, it's nigh on impossible to figure out what I did that broke my right-click.

It's mostly the first item, so as example, if I am watching ..... video, and I right click somewhere in the page background, then release the mouse, it makes my browser go BACK one page, because BACK is first item in right click menu in chrome...
Also I would like it to make it unable to right click in right click menu to press items in the menu... In other words, right click in right click menu has the same behavior like left click, but I want to disable it. I want it just like in MS windows, where when you click with right click in right click menu it does nothing. I have so many accidents with this right click menu.
Okay,so I successfully created a right click menu in Nautilus Actions Configuration,But when I right click on a file it doesn't show that menu! I did not really create it,I just imported XML document,I clicked save when I done that,I still can't see the menus(I restarted and stuff)

Overall I like it pretty well, but there's one thing I like in XFCE that I can't replicate in K: I want to be able to right-click on the desktop to bring up the full apps menu. On XFCE the default behaviour is that right-clicking anywhere on the desktop background (anywhere not on a window, basically) will bring up the full "Start" menu with all the app categories, preferences/settings, etc. (I put "Start" menu above in quotes because I know that's really Windows-specific terminology. So no need to give me crap about that, kids.) Right now, when I right-click on the desktop in K I get a small menu with Konsole, Run, Activities, and Desktop Settings. What I want to happen is a full launcher menu like I have on the panel.
