OpenSUSE Network :: Large File Download Will Start And Then Freezes

Mar 26, 2010

I've started having problems with large file downloads. A download will start and after a while freeze. The downloads window reports the correct connection speed and gives an estimated time to complete, but it stays frozen. Small downloads, torrents and surfing are not affected. I can do everything else normally even when the download is frozen. I've checked with my ISP and everything with my equipment checks out.

OpenSUSE Network :: Limit Remote Connection

Oct 1, 2010

How to limiting connection to a remote server.

We have set up a connection in OpenOffice Base to MtSql on a remote server - a very nifty thing.

We have OpenVpn set up - also works very good, in Yast - Security and users - allowed services - External Zone we have Mysql added so we can connect no problem.

My Question is : we can connnect using OpenVpn - through 10.x.x.x. but also via the normal address , 193.x.x.x.

How can I limit this, so people can only connect via the OpenVpn connection?

The clients are all OpenSuse 11.2, the remote server is OpenSuse 11.1.

Ubuntu :: Can't Find A Browser That Allows To Set A Download Speed Limit

Feb 3, 2010

It sounds weird but on Linux I can't find a browser that allows to set a download speed limit. I found an extension for Firefox but it works only on Windows. I know the existence of download managers like d4x, wget, jdownloader, etc... but some downloads can only be done by browser. I know trickle too but if I want to change the speed limit I have to 'restart' the command (interrupting the current download). Then I didn't find an extension for Chromium.

Red Hat / Fedora :: Reply_body_max_size To Limit Download Size In Squid?

Nov 26, 2010

I m using squid 2.7 Stable 9 and Dansguardian 2.10.1.1, i have compiled both squid and dansguardian, i have enabled follow_x_forwarded_for in squid to make clients IPs visible to squid, i have also set x_forwarded_for=on in dansguardian, this is working fine and clients ips are visible to squid. Now i want to set down-loadable file size limit upto 50 MB in squid by using the acl reply_body_max_size 52428800 allow mynetwork for every user except few users the above acl is not working properly. mynetwork is our private network which is 192.168.0.0/16.

When i set the acl reply_body_max_size 52428800 allow localhost . it works fine but only for localhost. I want to allow upto 50 MB down-loadable file size to every user in my network except a few users whom will have access upto 500 MB down-loadable file size.

OpenSUSE Install :: Get A Download Popup Which Specifies That The File Is 49.0MB File?

Aug 2, 2010

Asked this on Jul 21, and didn't get any satisfactory answers. Thought i'd ask again before i switch to Ubuntu or go back to Fedora: Has anyone gone to software.opensuse.org: Download openSUSE 11.3 and actually chosen "Installation Medium" as "4.7G DVD", "Direct Link", "32 bit PC", hit the "Download DVD" button and gotten the file "openSUSE-11.3-DVD-i586.iso" which is not 49.0MB?

I mean, the steps above are not rocket science, and not much chance of making mistakes, so i'm not sure how i can get a download popup which specifies that the file is 49.0MB file, if it's not actually that size?

OpenSUSE Network :: Bad Download Speed In 11.2 When Compared To 10.3

Mar 31, 2010

I was a user of openSUSE 10.3. I used to get a decent speed in BitTorrent (using KTorrent 2.2.1) there, since I had earlier used Windows and the speed wasn't as good, even in Windows 7. Recently, I installed openSUSE 11.2 and found that I wasn't getting the good speeds in KTorrent. The overall performance was a fraction of what I used to get in the older Linux installation.

I decided to verify whether my suspicions were justified by again reinstalling openSUSE 10.3. When I did this, I was again able to get the great performance I used to get always with openSUSE 10.3 running KTorrent 2.2.1 I don't know what causes this, but I know that this sad thing really has happened. A newer version is actually not worth it! I hope my voice reaches the openSUSE developers and such bad incidences don't occur anymore.

At Index of /distribution/11.3/iso the size of the file I need for USB is about 681 MB. Before I download, what comes with the 4.68 gig download that is not included in the other that is so massive in size? Other than the iso and the md5, anything else needed to install openSUSE from USB (plan on using Unetbootin)?

OpenSUSE Network :: 11.3 Branded Firefox Cannot Download Tweetdeck

Dec 18, 2010

This gets better and better. First I find out the branded version of Firefox can't do a right click "save page as" (although it can with CTRL-S), now I discover it can't download TweetDeck from that program's Web site. Click on the button to download TweetDeck, it says "Installing TweetDeck" but nothing happens.

I'm going to dropkick the branded Firefox to the curb and install the regular Mozilla version. It's more up to date anyway. I ran the Mozilla version for some time on 11.0 until I installed 11.3 the other day, so I'll live without "integration" that doesn't work worth a ****.

I was just testing specifying limit on file size to a user and have added the following to /etc/security/limits.conf bob soft fsize 100 This basically should have said not to allow bob to create anyfile greater than 100Kb in size.

But the interesting thing is, if bob already has any file which is greater than 100Kb in size, it even doesn't allow to log him into the system both from console and SSH. Also nothing is logged in logs.. How do I configure it so that, bob can login to the system even though he has any file greater than 100Kb (but doesn't allow him to create file which are greater than 100Kb) ??
