OpenSUSE Network :: Firefox 3.5.5 Stops Saving "Save Image As"

Dec 7, 2009

when I open a Firefox session and I right click an image and select "Save Image As" nothing happens meaning no file window opens to save the image. To allow firefox to save an image I have to exit out of it and reopen it. Since I have ran a couple difference distributions over the past week and I have not had this issue before then I am pretty sure it is an OpenSuse only issue. Also another Opensuse issue only in firefox seems to be the inline spell check is underlining words at random that are spelled correctly and incorrectly.

OpenSUSE :: Mozilla Firefox 3.5.9 Branding Saving Images?

Jun 16, 2010

sporadically and sometimes, right click image > save image as does not work, ie no response. If I close FF and restart, more often than not it does (same target image, natch) Anyone else have any experience here? I have tried the "advanced options" in java script under edit> prefs, but the problem persists. Would there be any point in starting from CLi and looking at/posting the output?

Fedora :: Xsane Saving Images - Fails ?

Aug 20, 2010

I've been scanning in large numbers of old photos for a friend, and up until now, xsane has worked like a charm. Today, however, it's spitting at me. If I try to select a file path in advance, and just save the images, it fails, suggesting that a link exists. (No, I'm putting them directly into the directory in question; no links involved.) I have to bring up the image in the viewer, select Save and select the path for each and every photo involved. Not only that, if I try using the file selection box to show xsane where I want things stored, it doesn't put the path into the box; I have to type it in myself. Considering that I have the best part of a hundred photos to scan, this isn't exactly an option. Does anybody have an idea what's gotten mungged, or how to unmung it?

Software :: FOSS Image Editor Capable Of Saving As SVG?

Jun 19, 2010

Is there any FOSS image editor in the Ubuntu repositories that is capable of saving .SVG files?

I currently have GIMP. I can open an SVG file just fine. But when I go to save it, GIMP thinks the file is a new one. When I click "Replace", an error pops up "The following file does not have a known file extension". I want to know if there is an FOSS image editor that will write SVG files, not just read them.

Ubuntu Networking :: NAS Saving Existing Files Fails?

Aug 26, 2010

I have a really nuisance problem. I have two NAS servers - different makes - both of which work perfectly under Windows XP. I can write new files, save existing files without error. Both servers have drives formatted to FAT32 - the only option - although the OS's are almost certainly an embedded Linux. Both units are recognized by Ubuntu 10.04 - and I can write new files to them both without problem (although the directory does not refresh - I have to reload it). I can also delete without problems. If I try and save over an existing file I get an error "Unexpected error: Invalid argument" - I presume the implied delete is failing but am not sure. New files also seem to be saved with the Read Only flag set.OK - I can work round the problem by deleting the files (that works OK) and saving them anew. Works fine - but a backup is impossible as any changed file will give rise to the error.I have tucked both drives into the hosts files in /etc - although I attach by IP address (which is fixed) anyway.

Ubuntu :: Saving/opening Files From Firefox?

Jun 2, 2010

I've been getting annoyed with the way that Firefox opens files for me. I used to have it so that they would come up with a window that asked whether I wished to save files onto the hard drive or simply open them. When choosing to Save, they would go to my Desktop. Because I mainly save files from my Uni website, they are generally .pdf files. N for some reason, they open in the Firefox window, so then I have to go to File, Save, then choose where I want to save it. It would be more efficient if it worked the way it did originally. How can I get the settings back to the way they were? I am running Ubuntu 9.04 and Firefox 3.0.19. Because I use a shared computer, I'm not sure whether the version of Firefox has been changed.

Ubuntu Installation :: Tarballs - Firefox Is Not Saving To Downloads

Nov 14, 2010

I am new to linux in general and have an older sysytem that I successfully partitioned to run ubuntu, kubuntu, and windoze. I was a casual mac user before thius and am used to packages--so I have no exp. installing tarballs. I am trying to install xampp and successfully downloaded it, but now am at a loss as to what to do--nothing seems to be working. I am using firefox which for some reason is not saving to downloads even though that is what I have set in pref. Is there a way I can use apt-get for this (although my understanding of that isn't much better. I can't seem to find the relevant information in documentation.

I have to click on the doc in the file manager; then LibreOffice opens with it. Likewise, when I try to save to the net I get an in/out error message. I have to save to the desktop and then move the doc from the desktop to the XP machine.I'm sure I'm missing some procedure. Can someone tell me what it is?

OpenSUSE :: Saving Repositories To CD/DVD?

Nov 1, 2010

Essentially, I have an openSUSE system which is isolated from the internet (for business security reasons) and I wish to provided it with the latest update repository. Since the system is not permitted to access the net, my proposed plan is to download the updates repository using my Windows XP system, burn it to DVD and then transfer the repository to the openSUSE system this way.Scanning the internet, I can find plenty of guides which describe how to download repositories using YaST and zypper, but nothing that describes how to resolve my (admittedly unusual) problem

OpenSUSE :: Saving Messages With Knode

Jan 30, 2010

I have used knode for nntp browsing ever since I settled on openSUSE a few years back. I have a reasonably large collection of useful messages stored in local folders so that I don't lose access to them as knode expires and drops them from the original groups. Testing out the KDE4 version of knode I find that I am no longer able to drag/drop the messages I want to keep to the local folders - in fact, I can see no obvious way to get them there.

Am I just missing an obvious setting or has this feature gone away? Loss of
it would be a show stopper for me.

OpenSUSE :: Thunderbird 3 And Saving Attachments

Feb 22, 2010

at my work we have upgraded suse to 11.2, thus we also got an upgrade of thunderbird 2 to 3.
When I now save attachments to our network disks it writes them as user=rw (600), and no longer as 644. I do not want to do chmod for every attachment. When creating a file by csh or bash terminal or downloading a file by firefox it does write the file as 644, which is good.
Can someone please give me a suggestion of how I can solve this problem? Is there something I have to change in the prefs.js file?

OpenSUSE :: 11.2 - Cannot Find Power Saving Features

Apr 18, 2010

I am running openSUSE 11.2 x86_64. I am processing work units from Folding@home on this pc. Strange thing is, when I actually leave the pc alone and working on folding@home, my performance actually drops instead of going up as I would expect. I believe there is some kind of powersaving feature I cant find or something else that's hurting quite a bit on the PC. I am talking about maybe 20-30% performance loss. PC in question is: Athlon II 630.

Already deactivated Cool'n'Quiet from the BIOS. Got no fresh ideas on what could cause this weird behaviour.

Update:
Code:
[22:05:52] Completed 260000 out of 500000 steps (52%)
[22:18:28] Completed 265000 out of 500000 steps (53%)
[22:30:41] Completed 270000 out of 500000 steps (54%)
[22:40:20] Completed 275000 out of 500000 steps (55%)
[22:48:16] Completed 280000 out of 500000 steps (56%)

PC was "idle" working on folding and I came back at 54%, see the huge difference? Frames were taking about 13 minutes each when "idle". When I am using the computer, frames are done within 8 minutes.

OpenSUSE Install :: Saving The Result From The Firmware Test Of 11.2 DVD?

From the start-up manual I know the Firmware Test Starts a BIOS checker that validates ACPI and other parts of your BIOS. I noticed there are 3 failures in the result. (The font size on the screen is too small for me to read.) I got stuck in trying to save to either of the two choices provided with names I don't understand. I had to use the three-finger salute to bail me out.

OpenSUSE :: Saving In YAST2 - Host Name And Domain Server Config

Jun 1, 2010

While in YAST2, everything seems to save fine except for the information in the "Host Name and Domain Server Configuration" screen. I have two servers side by side, the one works perfectly fine, the one does not. I can save the IP address and changes to DHCP and Static, but when I enter in the information for the Domain Name and Host Name, I click next, it saves, but when I go back in to it, the items I set are blank again. The boxes are not greyed out, you can type information in without error. When entering YAST, it requests the root pw which also works fine. I am not using any strange characters other than letters/numbers. I am going in to the screen by clicking network devices-->Netword Card-->Host Name and Name Server.

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Dual Display Not Saving And OpenGL Crashes

Jul 20, 2010

I am having a few strange issues with my new SUSE 11.3 install. This is my first time attempting to use it as my full time OS, so I can't say if these problems existed in previous versions.

1.) When I configure extended desktop, it works fine, but the settings do not save. Anytime I reboot my system, I have to reconfigure the Dual Display settings

2.) If I enable openGL effects, or use an OpenGL screen saver my system locks up and I can not restart X. (I have to power cycle the computer)

3.) I get corrupt icons sometimes in my system tray and desktop. (They look like a TV that is tuned into a non broadcasting number)

I have a Quadro 1700, and I read about installing the NVIDIA drivers instead of the ones that come with SUSE.

OpenSUSE Network :: 11.4 - Firefox Fails To Connect To Internet (Skype Intact)

Jul 26, 2011

The problem is that firefox cannot connect to the internet, the odd bit is that skype has no such problems. Are there any network related functions that that typically go screwy that might cause such a problem? The netbook really hasn't been used much for tinkering to have 'accumulated' a problem, but I'm about to give it to the extremely non-technical parents in law and cannot have it misbehaving, especially not as they are in a different country.
