I am wondering if there are working realtek drivers for 11.3 and where to get them? I went to realteks site but only found drivers for linux 2.6 and i dont know if they will work.
View 9 RepliesI'm using openSUSE 11.2 KDE on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pi 1536 laptop. My problem is that my microphone (I'm attempting to use a 3.5mm headset) doesn't work. Audio playback however does work through the built-in speakers and headphones.
I have gone through the SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE as suggested by oldcpu on the Welcome to multimedia sub-area sticky.

I've recently built a new PC with an ASUS M4A79T Deluxe motherboard with Realteck ALC1200 integrated audio. I'm connecting my Logitech z-5300 to it.
I'm not getting any audio despite connecting everything properly.
I'm not sure if it is because there is no stock drivers for it, or if there is some other issue. I'm not sure what the source of my problem is, or how to fix it. I'm a noob when it comes to audio, so any help is greatly appreciated!
Well I installed Ubuntu 10.10 64Bit along side Windows 7, and I've been unable to get any sounds working, apart from the log on sound. So I tried installing some drivers, and now there is no sound at all, and no sound devices show up in System-Preferences-Sound-hardware
I'm using the on board HD Audio (ALC 889A) and using the optical Audio out for 5.1 Surround sound.
I've tried just using the Stereo ( Green Jack ) out, and still nothing. The suggestions on the on the Ubuntu site, and the following post didn't seem to work either.

I Can't find a great deal of posts with the Realtek HD audio.
I'm running Ubuntu 9.10, but so far I've been unable to get sound to work. I know my sound card is Realtek, because I've had to install the HD Audio Codec Driver when I was on Windows. I downloaded the driver for Linux and it is currently sitting in my home folder. When I tried to Code:sudo ./installthe driver, it failed for the following reason:

I was running Ubuntu 9.04 and just upgraded to 9.10 recently. I see many others are having problems with their sound. I too do not have sound. I did get sound running briefly with an Alsa update, but it was muffled. In trying many other fixes, I again have no sound and can not resolve it. I am thinking of burning a new cd and doing a fresh install and starting over.
My lap top is an MSI GT725 US model with an HD4850 mobility graphics card. I dual boot between Vista 32 bit and Ubuntu.
Has anyone else had any luck getting the Realtek ATI sound working in 9.10?
I downloaded the file from Realtek's website. It says it's for Linux/Unix so I assume it's also compatible to Ubuntu. I attempted to install and even made a video about it here:[URL]... I understand most it, but I don't know what they mean by "patch" I have searched the entire folder for patch but nothing returned in the results. Maybe I have to download the correct file from somewhere else? I tried searching for it, but I have no luck finding it. I had Ubuntu installed for over a month and never tried compiling software before until when I tried to install Realltek HD Audio Manager.
Where do I install the correct and most recent file and what do I do to install it?

I'm thinking of installing openSUSE-11.1 Gnome on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo 7400M laptop because the wireless in Gnome is much more user friendly than KDE3/KDE4 in openSUSE-11.1. The idea is to give this laptop to my 84-year old mother and things need to 'just work' for her (she currently has a desktop running openSUSE-11.1 KDE3 that uses a WIRED interface to the web).
I refuse to update this laptop to openSUSE-11.2 nor 11.3 (nor other recent distributions) because every kernel update after the 2.6.27 kernel has broken the Intel i855GM graphics drivers for that laptop. There are many bug reports and none have fixed the problem for this Fujitsu-Siemens implementation of the i855GM graphics.
Hence I am looking at Gnome.
I booted the laptop to a Gnome openSUSE-11.1 liveCD and wireless is easy and works great. But audio is very very VERY bad. It is incredibly user unfriendly and it does NOT work well. I assume that is because pulse audio in openSUSE-11.1 was very immature.

Currently my wife is using this laptop with KDE-4.4.4 (and openSUSE-11.1) so I can't just install Gnome and play with it without taking the laptop away from her for a while (note the hard drive is too small for a dual boot of KDE/Gnome).

okay, here are the details: can't play any audio with amarok when desktop effects are enabled because the minute a window is moved, it will distort the audio. even when disabling desktop effects, some applications still cause this. can't play videos videos even with desktop effects disabled because of the same reason.
i just switched from ubuntu and when i ran version 11.04, i had to disable kms to do anything. i tried on opensuse 11.4 and the audio was flawless but the gfx went all to hell.
i just installed the latest opensuse version on my asus eee pc 1001px which has realtek alc269 sound card. The problem is that there is no sound coming from headphones when plugged in.. I had the same problem in ubuntu 10.04 and i solved it editing the alsa.conf and adding a line.. i didn't manage to find any solution for opensuse though.

I am not sure what is required when the error is "first use this function". How can I use the function T_DIGITAL_TV if I first have to install my driver in order to use the stick?
is how I added the RealTek 8188CE (or other RealTek drivers) to my newly installed Fedora 14 on a Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4056 laptop. This is assuming you have performed a regular install of Fedora 14 and have done nothing else.
1. Download the drivers at the RealTek download page here:URL...Search for your model in the "Download Search" box and selecting the Linux version of the software. In my case I typed in 8188CE and selected RTL8188CE (Software).
2.Extract the downloaded file into the desired location, open a terminal window, and navigate to the folder where you extracted the drivers.
3.Enable Sudo using the following command:su -echo "username ALL=(ALL) ALL" >> /etc/sudoers.Where "username" is your account username.
4.While still logged on as root, type in the following to install gcc and the kernel headers:yum install gcc kernel-devel kernel-headers patch make exit(From this point you really only have to follow the readme.txt instructions in the drivers folder, but I'll add them here)
5.Change to Super User sudo su
6. Compile driver from the source code make
7. Install the driver to the kernel make install reboot
does anyone know if the realtek wireless card driver issues have been sorted? It is just so annoying not being able to use Ubuntu on my laptop when all my other PC's are running it.Looks darn good though doesn't it

I've had some hiccups with my the wired connections on my new ASUS M5A88-M motherboard, ethernet card is a Realtek 8111E. The default drivers keep giving me an unstable connection - keeps starting and stopping. I figure it must be the drivers since the connection is fine when I boot to the windoze os. I went here and downloaded the "LINUX driver for kernel 2.6.x and 2.4.x (Support x86 and x64)" file. Untarred and ran the .sh. Checked speedtest.net and the result was almost a mirror, if not better, than when I did speedtest on the windoze os. I read this thread here which gave me some insight. The .sh appears to have replaced a r8169 driver with the one I downloaded, r8168. But when I restart, it reverts to the r8169 driver.

Have searched various forums, etc. and found recommendations to download the ALSA driver from realtek, but those posts are from ~2007 and the drivers are dated from back then as well. Nobody present-day seems to be suffering audio problems with this motherboard or chipset. I did install the 2007 realtek driver, but no change. What logs can I check?

Just made the jump to Ubuntu, and until this install I considered myself very tech savvy. Now not so much! Built my new desktop, loaded Ubuntu 64 bit no problem. But I'm having a terrible time figuring out how to load the native driver for my realtek wireless adapter. I successfully un-tarred the file, and used the terminal to run the make command by using cd command to navigate to the file. It returned a wall of text, and in my mind looked to work. Next I go to run "./clean" in the same file location in the terminal and it returns:
"ERROR: Module r8192s_usb does not exist in /proc/modules
ERROR: Module ieee80211_rsl does not exist in /proc/modules
ERROR: Module ieee80211_crypt_ccmp does not exist in /proc/modules
ERROR: Module ieee80211_crypt_tkip does not exist in /proc/modules
ERROR: Module ieee80211_crypt_wep does not exist in /proc/modules
ERROR: Module ieee80211_crypt does not exist in /proc/modules
Not completely sure if this is an issue, I try moving to the next step of instructions issuing the command "insmod 8712u.ko" in the terminal same file location and get the error message
insmod: error inserting '8712u.ko': -1 Operation not permitted
I've tried running "sudo insmod 8712u.ko" from both that file directory, and from my home file directory. My guess is I'm missing a step or need to be typing these commands in a different file directory in the terminal.
I'm using Xubuntu Natty at the moment, on an Acer Aspire 5739G. Figured I would go to Realtek's site and get the most recent soundcard driver, since the built-in subwoofer has never worked on Linux for me.

I can not get any output from the digital optical S/PDIF jack on my on-board audio device. But I am getting an analog signal from the headphone jack. I don't have an RCA S/PDIF cable, so I haven't tested the RCA S/PDIF jack. Below are my system specs and hardware info.

I'm trying to diagnose a weird problem ... maybe someone has an idea where to start. I'm having a problem with flash videos. The video part displays as if the fast-forward button is being held down; audio sounds correct.
I'm thinking "synchronization error" (duh!) but I'm not sure how to start to diagnose the issue. I'm running OpenSUSE 11.4 x64, and the problem shows up in both chrome and opera.
Volume of sound is minimal compared to my MS OS.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to create a few audio cd's and the only burning software I have is K3b. But when I open it a window is displaying that says there is a system configuration problem and literally saying:
Mp3 Audio Decoder plugin not found. K3b could not load or find the Mp3 decoder plugin. This means that you will not be able to create Audio CDs from Mp3 files. Many Linux distributions do not include Mp3 support for legal reasons. Solution: To enable Mp3 support, please install the MAD Mp3 decoding library as well as the K3b MAD Mp3 decoder plugin (the latter may already be installed but not functional due to the missing libmad). Some distributions allow installation of Mp3 support via an online update tool (e.g. SuSE's YOU).

I managed to take some .avi files and convert them to the various files needed for viewing on my DVD home player. I used DeVeDe for the conversion and, of course, k3b to write the files to disk.
One thing I wanted to do though, is to have an audio file play while the menu is being displayed like many of the commercial disks. I can't seem to find a way to accomplish this. DeVeDe has many options to control the appearance of the menu but I don't see anything about sound.
I'm in the US if that makes a difference. I found it does for the video format.
I'm in a real mess I have been reading loads of forums and wikis for a week now, trying to work out how to configure mythtv and ALSA to pick up the audio output from my hauppauge HVR 1300. I am using it to watch the RF output from a sky box, so there is only one channel which I have managed to tune ok.
I can listen to other sources of audio such as dvd mp3 etc. and I have run speaker test pointing at ALSA:default and I get audio, but when I point mythtv at ALSA:default I get glorious silence which for once is not what I want.
I have read some comments about having to redirect the audio output with sox but have not really understood how, and there are other comments about connecting a cable between the tv card and the aux in of the sound card but have not hmanaged to find a way of doing that either. If there is someone who have used this card and configured the analog audio I would love to know how you did it.
