OpenSUSE :: Is 3.98.1-1 Just A Release Candidate Or Is There An Actual Bug In The OFX Package
May 27, 2010
I have the latest RPM's but bank is saying the User Name and Password they issued me is hitting their server, but I get a screen coming back saying it can't find any suitable accounts at my bank to map to. Is 3.98.1-1 just a release candidate or is there an actual bug in the OFX package?
I have installed on an Acer Aspire One netbook. The same problems with the Netbook Remix and Gnome.
(1) RESTART is hit and miss. It gets stuck and I have to do a hard shutdown (press the on/off switch for a few seconds)
(2) WIRELESS CONNECTION is hit and miss. The Connection Information goes missing. Have to shutdown & restart for it to work (restart never works)
(3) APPLICATIONS FREEZE all of a sudden. The mouse stops working and the keyboard stops working. I have to do a hard shutdown. Restart does not work.
(4) RHYTHMBOX launch is hit & miss. The little icon appears in the tray but I can do nothing - can't ask it to Show Rhythmbox and can't shut it down. Have to use System Monitor and kill the process there. IF MY MACHINE HAS NOT FROZEN DOWN COMPLETELY.
(5) GOOGLE CHROME and FIREFOX browsers run quickly when they start, and then, as time passes, run more and more slowly, until the freeze the whole computer.
I noticed that mysql has an RC available for its latest version mysql 5.5.I was wondering if anyone can give me an educated guess as to when we can expect to see mysql show up in the synaptic package manager after mysql 5.5 reaches GA status.
I want to install kernel package by this command sudo apt-get install kernel-packagebut it gives me the error :Package kernel-package has no installation candidate
I'm planning to install Fedora 11 Release Candidate on my computer because I really need a working Linux system, right now. Once the final version is released, will I have to do a fresh install or do I just update the packages on my system to get the final version?
I have Ubuntu7.10 installed on my machine. I am getting some errors installing some rpm packages. I found the error message "rpm command not found".does it mean that i need to istall rpm package manager? right? I have a lot of .rpm packages to install.
and when i try "apt-get install rpm " , the following error occurs
Quote:
Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package rpm is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source E: Package rpm has no installation candidate
I write apps for webOS, and need to use the palm emulator. The emulator runs on virtualbox-3.0 to virtualbox-3.2 only (no support for virtualbox 4). After adding the virtualbox source, I still cannot install virtualbox-3.2, and am instead given the error:
Quote:
Package virtualbox-3.2 is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source E: Package 'virtualbox-3.2' has no installation candidate I tried downloading and installing the virtualbox-3.2 package from the web site, but it does not run. The contents of /var/log/vbox-install.log are as follows:
Quote:
Uninstalling modules from DKMS removing old DKMS module vboxhost version 3.2.12 ------------------------------ Deleting module version: 3.2.12

Is there some way that I can get this package installed?
I am working on Ubuntu 7.10 and I want to install libssl-dev_0.9.8a-7ubuntu0.13_i386.deb. So tried it with apt-get command but getting the following error--
root@user-desktop:/# apt-get install libssl Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package libssl is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source E: Package libssl has no installation candidate
Then I downloaded .deb file and attempt to install it with package installer but again unable to install it and getting the error-- Error: Dependency is Not Satisfiable: libssl0.9.8 In Synaptic, libssl0.9.8 is installed on my system. I tried reinstalling it and that didn't make a difference.
So I have been following the instructions over at the Community Ubuntu Documentation: How to create a live CD from scratch and ran into a slight problem:

I have had webmin running previously but i just recently installed Unbuntu server and i am now trying to install webmin. after typing this to install webmin sudo apt-get install webmin it started doing its thing and then it halts.
Giving me the following message: "Package webmin is not available, but is referred to by another package. this may mean that the package is missing, had been obsoleted , or is only available from another source."
The first thing i did after installing webmin was edit the sources.list
Then i tpyed sudo nano sources.list I uncommented everything with "deb" in front of it
I also uncommented
deb cdrom:
I then typed this sudo wget [url]
After getting that i typed this apt-get install perl libnet-ssleay-perl openssl libauthen-pam-perl libpam-runtime libio-pty-perl libmd5-perl

I have 9.10 ubuntu installation - I have updated all packages and it is up-to-date. However, I have a issue with the latex installation, not latex so to say, it is the pstricks
Installed package : texlive-pstricks version - 2007.dfsg.17-2ubuntu1
Also it is the latest version available in the repo. However, this is not the latest in pstricks. I find that version in the new 10.04 is 2009-7ubuntu3
Is there some way to get this installed in 9.10? Or I have to upgrade my whole installation?
Trying to understand version nr. of RPM package and release nr.I have the following package e.g.
tree-1.5.3-2.el6.x86_64.rpm. tree ---> package name 1.5.3 ---> version 2 ---> release e16 ---> operating system major version x86_64 ---> cpu architecture
What is the difference between version nr vs release nr ?
I have found some stable releases of packages I use which are included in Debian stable to be outdated. For example: I use Kdevelop. I absolutely love it. Checking Kdevelop.org says that latest stable release is 4.2.3.However on my system, the latest stable package found is 4.0.1 In my sources list I've selected to use only stable packages:
deb http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main deb-src http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main deb http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ stable main contrib non-free deb-src http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ stable main contrib non-free
BTW, I assume this is how I only get stable packages ? Why is it that although there are newer stable releases of Kdevelop, the latest (stable) found on Debian is 4.0.1 ? Is there something I can do in order to include those newer stable releases, other than downloading the source from the wesbite and building/installing ? I really like the way Debian handles it's packages, and I understand that Debian has it's own ways of doing things.
I have 2 pc with Asus AMD boards (M4A87TD Evo and M4A88TD-M Evo) running OpenSuse 11.3.on both the front panel audio headset + mic do not work.on one PC I have an other OS also installed, so I know that on this machine the hardware is working.is there a chance to get the frontpanel audio connectors running with the actual openSuse or do I have to wait for the next version with a newer kernel/alsa version?
Is there a git client that doesn't require git to be installed? Every client I've found so far requires the binary "git" to be installed on your system and is simply a wrapper to that. Does anyone know of an actual standalone git client?
I am looking for an application that I can select different types of instruments and select notes to play, and then make different instruments play at the same time or specified time in the track, thus composing a complete music. I am not looking for connecting instruments to computer and recording them, but I am looking for something that can compose music without using actual instruments.
i'm running debian lenny - latest stable i have recently installed smartcam (mobile phone as webcam over bluetooth) from .deb package , get errors of unmet dependency , but application works like a charm, unfortunately broken dependences block my aptitude , i cant fix them either as latest stable use older versions of dependences even in backports... how do i mark smartcam package as not broken and release my apt?
Why does centos-release-notes have any dependancies ?
I can see no reason why centos-relese-notes should depend on centos-release when I try "yum erase centos-release-notes" I am told there are 72 dependancies including completely irrelevant packages such as tar all because of this unnecessary dependancy.
The centos-release-notes package simply contains a bunch of text/html files that nothing else relies upon, so why the dependancies ?
I scanned a document with xsane and saved it as a pdf, the pdf shows up great but there is extra white space at the bottom of the document. how do i get rid of the white space and make the document the actual real legal size?
I am and Ubuntu user, and recently became interested in KDE 4, since it obviously looks much more modern that GNOME. I tried Kubuntu, but didn't really like it that much, so I downloaded openSUSE 11.3 and installed it on an old 40 GB IDE hard drive, leaving my existing Windows/Ubuntu HD untouched. The only problem is the Wi-Fi doesn't work, although it did work on the liveCD. Issuing the command gives the Wi-Fi card as being a RaLink RT2561/RT61. Does anyone know how to fix this? I really hope I can get this fixed, as I've heard some great things about openSUSE KDE, and would love to make it my primary OS, completely dumping Ubuntu. I'm using the 64-bit CD.
Since I use this for work, I don't want the DE to get unstable with updates, but want to do other updates like security updates. Should I disable the KDE Factory Desktop repos? How can I work this so everything updates without taking my KDE into 4.4.1 beta? I ask because I'm not sure yet what comes down through OSS, NON OSS, and Updates repos....or, if I can only do those. I'm just trying to make it dummy proof..I don't tend to break things in linux
I have heard its going to be July. One concern is KDE4.4 and whether this is going to be the KDE default environment for 11.2. Over at KDE, 4.4 is out with a 1 click install for 11.2. The main problem I have discovered from reading the KDE forum is poor multi monitor support with separate X screens. From what I read this is extremely problematic. I would like to update to 4.4 to get the equalizer back in Amorak but attempted once, the day before they officially released 4.4 with no success. I wonder if anyone here is using 4.4 in a separate X screen setup?? Additional thought-- when 11.3 is released will 4.4 be the only option or will we be able to elect to use 3.xx??
I just updates to 4.5.4 from 4.5.3 from the openSUSE 4.5 stable repo and when I open aboutKDE (from most KDE apps; Help->About KDE), it says I have KDE 4.5.3 Release 1!
managed to get KVirc 4 installed on 11.3 RC2 everytime i try to install its giving me an error about Perl 5.10 / libPerl 5.10.#By default 11.3 will come with libPerl 5.12 / Perl 5.12How can i upgrade kvirc to perl 5.12 or install perl 5.10?
I've always had a doubt about what means the last numbers after the For example, what could have possibly changed between Mesa package version: 7.8.2-22.1 and 7.8.2-23.1 ????
Thats with every package, including KDE, etc etc. If its the same package, what could change from 2 different release numbers?
