OpenSUSE Install :: KDM: Cannot Apply New Theme On Kde4.4?

Feb 23, 2011

I installed suse kde 4.4 on a new machine using a cd made with suse studio.

I decided to change the login theme. I went into the login manager, downloaded, selected, and applied a new theme. Restarted. Nothing changed. I still had the same old theme pre-installed via suse studio.

I thought it could be a bug with that particular theme. So I downloaded another theme through the login manager. I selected it, and clicked apply. Restarted.... nothing changed...still the old theme.

I thoroughly searched every option in login manager, thinking that I missed a simple setting. Tried everything I could think of. Still same old theme.

So... I decided to delete the theme pre-installed via suse-studio using login manager. Went to the login screen. It changed! But it wasn't the theme I applied. It was a simple theme-less login screen.

Went back to the login manager. I can change the background pic manually, but I can't install any theme!

how (if possible) to prevent LibreOffice from using the KDE theme the rest of the apps are using? I like my KDE theme but it's a bit on the dark side. Ubuntu :: Apply Windows 7 Theme Files?

Jul 19, 2010

My wife doesn't like gnome so I said I could make the desktop look like Windows 7. I've downloaded the theme pack but I can't find any instructions on how to apply it.

I downloaded it from here:

http://gnome-look.org/content/show.p...content=113909

I'm guessing it a Emerald theme, but I don't know what to do with the files.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Debian Multimedia :: I3 - Iceweasel Does Not Apply Gtk-theme On Login

May 1, 2015

After logging in to i3 i launch an instance of iceweasel via

Code: Select allexec --no-startup-id i3-msg 'workspace 2; exec /usr/bin/iceweasel

This instance of iceweasel only applies half of the gtk-theme, which i set via the mate-control-center.

The main problem is that the text in the right-click menu and on inactive tabs has the wrong colour (dark text on dark background)

When closing this instance of iceweasel and opening another one, the gtk-theme is correctly applied.

Installed gtk-theme-switch and set the theme there, now it works as expected

OpenSUSE Install :: Privoxy To Start Up During Boot On 11.3 Kde4?

Aug 23, 2010

I am completely fed up trying to do it. I had no problems with 11.0. It refuses to start up during boot like tor. I added tor to the kde start menu and it works just fine after boot. Privoxy refuses to start up during boot. I have to go into SU mode in terminal, then it works. I need to be able to start Privoxy the same way. I tried everything from chown / chmod commands, and it made no difference. I have it set for 777, and my name along with root. I also added the group privoxy to my user ID. I need the computer to disregard that it is a root program.

OpenSUSE Install :: Login Fails For Normal User In 11.3 - KDE4

I can't log into my normal user account at bootup; it just bounces back to the login screen.

However, I can log into the user's terminal window from the root account.

I've tried deleting and re-creating the user, but to no avail.

Is there some special file that I could delete before re-creating the user?

The one that holds the (corrupted) authentication data, perhaps?

OpenSUSE Install :: Take To Change The Kdm Theme?

Aug 26, 2010

I have installed some kdm themes (ethais, NewEssenceFinal, oxygen, oxygen-air, MIB-Ossigeno-Kdm-Neutral-2.2) that I would like to try out and they are present in "/usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes/".

Changing the theme through SystemSettings>Login Screen changed nothing, logging out still defaulted to the default SUSE theme. So I tried the SysConfig editor through YAST and changed DISPLAYMANAGER_KDM_THEME to the theme I wanted, still no change after logging out. I have also changed DISPLAYMANAGER to kdm4.

Opened the "/etc/sysconfig/displaymanager" file to make sure the correct line had changed, and it was.

I deleted the SUSE theme, again made sure the theme I wanted was selected, but now it defaults to a background wallpaper and rather plain looking login screen. I don't know if this is correct but I am using the folder name of the theme I want as the string I enter into SysConfig. I have even rebooted several times just in case it was required. I have tried this through my regular account, obviously entering my root password when required, and also through the root account itself.
