Jul 28, 2010Is there anyway to find the install history log on openSUSE 11.3 KDE4?
View 2 RepliesIs there anyway to find the install history log on openSUSE 11.3 KDE4?
View 2 RepliesI can get the installation history via the command line:
Code:
rpm -qa --last | less
Is it not possible to get it from YaST in the same way as you can in Synaptic? It would not only be nice to see a basic list, but also what has been pulled in as dependencies and have it grouped by 'installation sets'. Too much to ask?
I find it incredible that installing and running reputable software such as Clamav on my system should be a major problem. I have openSUSE 11.3 with kde 4.5.2 desktop and when I try and install clamav using Yast the files are downloaded into old kde3 directory and nothing works.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy KDE4 stopped booting after installing the last (11.7) ATI driver and uninstalling it later (display turned off at all while booting).
I get a login screen, though. When I enter my password and press ENTER, it tries to start but returns to the login screen in a couple of seconds. Here's a snippet from kdm.log:

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed suse kde 4.4 on a new machine using a cd made with suse studio.
I decided to change the login theme. I went into the login manager, downloaded, selected, and applied a new theme. Restarted. Nothing changed. I still had the same old theme pre-installed via suse studio.
I thought it could be a bug with that particular theme. So I downloaded another theme through the login manager. I selected it, and clicked apply. Restarted.... nothing changed...still the old theme.
I thoroughly searched every option in login manager, thinking that I missed a simple setting. Tried everything I could think of. Still same old theme.
So... I decided to delete the theme pre-installed via suse-studio using login manager. Went to the login screen. It changed! But it wasn't the theme I applied. It was a simple theme-less login screen.
Went back to the login manager. I can change the background pic manually, but I can't install any theme!

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am completely fed up trying to do it. I had no problems with 11.0. It refuses to start up during boot like tor. I added tor to the kde start menu and it works just fine after boot. Privoxy refuses to start up during boot. I have to go into SU mode in terminal, then it works. I need to be able to start Privoxy the same way. I tried everything from chown / chmod commands, and it made no difference. I have it set for 777, and my name along with root. I also added the group privoxy to my user ID. I need the computer to disregard that it is a root program.

However, I can log into the user's terminal window from the root account.
I've tried deleting and re-creating the user, but to no avail.
Is there some special file that I could delete before re-creating the user?
The one that holds the (corrupted) authentication data, perhaps?
maybe everything changed while i was stuck in 10.3 but i noticed soonafter install, and am just getting around to asking:i find these directories in the system's root directory very surprising:

/.kde4
/.kde4/share (empty)

I have updated my 11.3x64 recently and after updateI cannot log into any X session.Keyboard is dead but mouse is moving fine.I tried to change kdm to gdm - no result! All I can do now is - select by mouse "Console Session"and log in to common terminal. In terminal session keyboard works.I can't understand What is it?The most interesting:If I run terminal as a root and run startx - kde desktop is started but the same way - without keyboard!Hardware manager (YAST) shows: /dev/input/event0and shows type of keyboard right: AT Keyboard bla-bla-bla. (Common Genius PS/2 keyboard for 6$ :-))I suspect something wrong with my X11 but can't get what!I did not find xorg.conf in it's standard place. I have found only /etc/X11/xorg.conf.install

I previously installed an older version kde4-skrooge, but I have since uninstalled that version. I deleted some extra repositories and now I cannot find kde4-skrooge in the repositories. Has anyone had success running the current version of skrooge? If not, does anyone know of a repository that contains the old version?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy friend has had an HP Pavilion Slimline for about two years -- recently he suffered a power surge and had to replace his (dsl) modem and harddrive -- he can't find the Vista media that may or may not have come with the PC, so I offered to put opensuse on it for him. I used a dvd I had burned last July with 11.3 on it, and the install went without apparent problems. Then I tried an update, and was greeted with

appeared and the boot halted. The drive is new, we wrote to it and read from it during the install (I formatted it as ext3), but the box can't seem to find grub on it at boot, or it finds it and doesn't like it. If I reboot with the install DVD in the drive I can get a menu and "repair" (I think that was the choice) which gives me a login prompt, which I can tell "root", at which it responds with a shell prompt, but I don't know what I can do at that point to fix grub, or the SATA driver, or whatever needs fixing.
might be an error on my part so I rather post it here 1st Firefox 3.5.7-1.1.1 from the updates for opensuse 11.2 repo also updates mozilla-xulrunner191-kde4 which needs kdebase4-runtime >= 4.3.1 but that one I can't find ?did I make a mistake somewhere or more people having this ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAs usual when I want to install sid, I downloaded the "mini.iso" image and proceeded with the installation of sid, without problems. However, when rebooted I noticed SDDM was in place instead of KDM; I readly knew plasma5 was installed.
No messages appeared when I selected "KDE" from the installation process, nor there was a "plasma" name there. So can I install KDE4 desktop instead of plasma 5, using the mini.iso? (I don't like upgrades so telling me to upgrade from stable -> testing -> sid will be useless).
