why my sd card is not recognised (not mounted) when I insert it into the sd card slot...neither if it is already inserted at bootup nor if it is inserted afterwards? I am running Opensuse 11.2 (with KDE4), and I have no reason to suspect the hardware (yet), since it was OK recently with OS 11.1.

I have an issue with my Sound on OS 11.2.It is correctly recognized under hardware and the driver seems to start properly as well when I do rcalsasound start.But under Control Center / Sound Preference there is no audio hardware listed (and hene no sound playing)

I changed my old video card for a newer in order to use all the resolution of my screen 1920X1200 and not 1920X1080, in my just installed 11.2, rebooted and got to log in graphic mode,looks good. But isn't. It is working because the new card is seen as the old !How can I get the new one to be recognized, and acces the newresolution ?

The only major problem I have encountered is that Ubuntu will not recognize my SD cards. I really need to access these cards, all my film footage is on there. I think the internal SD card reader (If such a thing exists) would have been deleted during the installation process. I am a greenthumb to Ubuntu and have never used it before so I am rather stuck...
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am very new to Linux. I installed ubuntu 9.10 on my Acer 3050 aspire. It works very well except for a few issues. I can not use my 5 in 1 card reader, nothing shows up in "computer" except "cd/dvd" and "file system". My lg phone does not show up when using my data cable as mass storage, and the touch pad is too sensitive, (i have adjusted the settings listed under mouse/touchpad but to no avail. The biggest problems is the card reader and phone. Can this be fixed?

Graphics card is not recognized properly.
But the graphics is OK the first half of the boot, then it turns weird and stays that way.
The screen is very dark, tux in the upperhand left corner is colored wrong. (Red, Purple, Green)

I just closed another issue about an unrecognized USB C-Media headset, because the issue seems to be deeper... On an Asus Eee 1001p running Fedora 13, I've run lspci | grep -c audio, which returns 0.
Running alsa-info.sh --no-upload I get a report that tells me that there are no soundcards... Pulseaudio is running though. Also, if I use VirtualBox the sound works fine there (including my USB headset).
I used to have sound, and I'm not sure how it disappeared. I really don't know where to start with this, it's been a pain in the ass all week.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to proselytize and have installed Lucid on my receptionist's Gateway M500 with an Orinoco PCI Mini wireless card.
The card works in XP, but when I boot into Linux, the network card indicator light doesn't turn on, and lspci gives me this:
No wireless card
Pressing the on-off wireless button does nothing.
What can I do to turn on the modem so that Lucid sees it?
i just thought the last few days about trying Ubuntu. so i did. i got a nice and fresh copy of Ubuntu Desktop version and installed it, everything worked great except my wireless usb 2.0 card. the only internet connection i have under windows is Wifi and i hoped that my dongle will be recognized by Ubuntu automatically...(naturally, it wasn't the case.)
so my adapter looks exactly like this one here, except for the color, it's white and it has my WISP's name written on it (i got it from them, along with a cd that offers win xp/98/me drivers...)
so even everest sees it's atheros and it's the Atheros AR5523 chipset.
i also have windows 7 64bit drivers if they help...
anyway, i can't get it to work and cannot access the internet any other way when on Ubuntu, so i have to use an already-saved driver..
I updated my video card drivers, but when I boot back up, I have no GUI and am given a terminal because it does not recognize the drivers. I have already changed "quiet splash" to "nomodeset" .

I have lucid installed on my hp laptop without any problems, and I went to install it on another hp but the I can't connect to any wireless network. I tried to follow this thread's advice [URL] . Because it's pretty much the same problem except I think the wireless card is from a different Intel family but it didn't work.
Basically wireless networks won't show up, in fact the network icon only has "wired" as a menu option.
I tried to follow the thread, even though I had no idea what it was saying as far as instruction goes.
The soundcard was working with the exception of the mic.
So I tried to install linuxant drivers and the installation failed for some reason.
So I uninstalled it. After that my sound card is not being recognized.

I have RHEL 4u6 in P4 machine, but somehow network card (D-link DFE-550TX) is not working on it. BTW machine is dual boot, and the same card is working under Windows.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm a brand new user of Debian, and I just bought a (too much?) new laptop, the HP 430 G2. It seems to work great for almost everything, except that I don't have any wifi available.
I tried so many different things (without any success) that it would be hard to resume. But for now, all I have is a new installation (to avoid parasite installations of weird things), and a kernel updated to 3.16. I don't know if it's useful though...

The first element I notice is that I don't have the line with "Kernel driver in use...". Which seems to indicate that there's a problem with the kernel module (is that right?). But I don't know how to fix it...
The other thing that puzzles me with these last two commands is that according to this page, my wifi card is a Broadcom BCM43142. But it's not the result I get with the lspci command.
Anyway, I'm really lost, I don't know what to do, what to check, what to install. I don't want to go by random, testing all the different solutions I see on the web blindely. This is the reason why I ask it here.
I've got a problem on my Debian, I've tried installing all the correct alsa packages and all packages that have the word sound or audio description. The problem that is happening here is that when I go into settings and click on sound in Gnome, it appears to have a dummy output and in fact, a few weeks ago, the sound was working properly. Now, I believe, that after an update, the sound card was not recognized. Used the lspci command in root mode, and showed my sound card which is onboard. I'll leave the model below it, because I've tried everything and could not solve anything.

I just installed 10.04 on my EeePC 1000HE, and wireless isn't working. My card isn't listed when I ifconfig. I've messed around with installing the Windows drivers, but nothing has worked so far.
If it's useful, I popped off my battery and it said something about the wireless controller "NE766".

so I had to reinstall Ubuntu.But now my Wireless card won't work. First, my set-up -Intel i5 quad-core CPU 16GB RAM.Two Radeon HD5450 video cards, each with two monitors.Multi-boot - Windows7, Ubuntu 10.04.2 and Ububtu 10.04.2(not a typo, the second instance is for experiments)Both the 10.04's have the proprietary ATI video drivers.
On the first set-up, everything works beautifully.All four monitors are alive, and configured with Xinerama as a single large desktop.In the second Ubuntu 10.04 set-up, I have two problems -The second video card is not recognized -it shows up as an unrecognized card.Of the two monitors connected to it, only one is detected, with a resolution of 640x480, not the 1920x1080 the first set-up sees.When I try and switch to the virtual terminal - ctl-alt-F1, I get a blank screen.The terminal is alive and well - I can log in, and enter commands which are executed. So I'm running a live disk of ubuntu 11.04 because my windows 7 is totally messed up and wouldn't recognize my external hard drive and I cant back up my documents. I actually really like Linux and wanna keep it, but I have 2 problems. 1, I can't figure out for the life of me how to connect to the Internet. Its not scanning for any wireless networks and only seems to want me to connect via Ethernet. I think the problem is that it doesn't recognize my wireless card/doesn't know it's installed. Is there any way to fix that? I just want to be able to connect to wifi.
Now my second question. I can acess all my files fine, but Linux doesn't seem to register my external hard drive either, nor any other USB device. It just acts like there not plugged in. No error message or Anything. Is the a way to fix that? I fear that there might be some sort of hard ware issue, because in windows seven it doesn't recognize USB devices or my wireless card (among many many other problems) either. Although, I tried An older version of ubuntu on this same computer once and had a similar wireless issue which I was never able to resolve before my 7 was having any wireless issues.

I've just installed the latest version of Ubuntu (11.04) on my Lenovo S10-3 netbook. Everything works just fine, except the mobile mobile broadband.
The system doesn't seem to recognize the (integrated) SIM card slot. The SIM card slot is already integrated (it's located under the battery). I can add a new broadband connection manually, but it still doesn't work (I can't select it from the available connections). If I open-up the additional drivers manager, it doesn't show me any available drivers.
Upgraded system so I could store more recorded video. Now system identifies the Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150 card as a scanner. I have the original setup disk from Hauppauge but it is not Linux compatable. Running: Ubuntu 9.04 on: AMD Athlon64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've got some trouble trying to format a SD card. I tried to format it in the GUI and the terminal, but couldn't make it. I couldn't even copy or move any file to the directory in the SD card, even logged as root.
It's a SD card from a digital camera. When I insert it in the camera, it says the card is blocked, so that it's not possible to take any picture.
I tried using "fdisk" to set a new fyle system in it, and tried "mkdosfs" trying to format it under the current file system.
