I have 2 identical hardware systems running 11.2.I swapped over the DVB card. In the second system is the TV icon in yast missing.Looked at hardware....the card is known.Any idea how to configure yast so it shows the TV icon?

I've managed to work through most of the initial hiccups and get a smooth system.However I've noticed that the 'System Logs' option in YAST is missing. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there some supplimental package that I should install? If it was removed from 11.3, is there an easy way to find and read these logs?

Now I'm noticing that applications are missing from (pacman) repo, but when I browse the repo with firefox, the rpms are there, they're just not being found by a yast search... Both mplayer and kdelnive are not found by yast. There are probably others...

Under "Software Management" I searched for "yast" but found no fitting module.

I am relatively new at Linux and am having some problems with an install of openSUSE 11.2. I installed 11.2 on my Thinkpad X31 dual boot with WinXP. It seems to work very well except the network. I looked up swerdna's instructions on setting network cards up. I used YaST to try and set the system up as described in swerdna's instructions. Everything looks fine my network card and wireless card show up in the overview settings screen and everything sets up fine. But when I exit YaST the network doest show up no icon in the system tray and it doesn't even try to connect.
I did go into hardware to see if it was identifying my hardware and my network card shows up as "Thinkpad R40" and the wireless shows up as Cisco Aironet Wireless 802.11b. As far as I know this is correct. I have tried three other distro's and this one has gotten the closest to working so far.
I run a OpenSUSE 11.4 64 bit with Gnome & KDE desktop. When I run my Gnome desktop all my KDE applications are missing their usr/share/icons/hicolor/48*48/apps/nameofapplication.png picture. The KDE applications work, and when I go to that destination file the png. picture is present. When I run a KDE environment, my KDE applications (that are missing in Gnome) have their icon 48*48 picture. Any idea why when running the Gnome environment, there is a missing path to the png. file for only the KDE applications?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've installed chromium browser package from Index of /repositories/openSUSE:/11.4:/Contrib/standard I notice that the taskbar icon has been missing (for quite some time) - I can confirm it on 3 different openSUSE 11.4 installations - on my laptop, my home HTPC/gaming rig and the worstation at work. The icon in the gnome main menu->internet->chromium looks fine but the icon I get in Compiz Ring Switcher seems to be the same white box icon with the blue bar. I'm sure it started happening since an update of Chromium in Feb/Mar timeframe. Does anyone else face similar problem and may be found a solution to get the icon fixed in the taskbar? I've attached a screenshot showing the problem.

My question is how do I remove the home directory and the trash icon from the desktop? Or better said what is the path to removing the symbolic link, I cannot find the symbolic links in the desktop directory. It is empty, I do not see any symbolic links under /home/test/Desktop?

View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time I install Jessie, I also install gufw as a graphical firewall frontend for desktop users, but I've also always had to create my own menu icon because the default one never showed up. I opened up the .desktop file today and took a look to see why it was never displayed in Gnome.
There was a line next to the bottom that basically told it to only appear in Unity. Deleting this line allowed it to appear in the Gnome menu. My question is this. Why is this line even in here?

PulseAudio applet's icon is missing, i.e., in the systray and in the program menu (for the PulseAudio device chooser) the 'white page with blue question mark' icon is used. Which package do I need to install to get the right icon, or, how can I find out which icon exactly is missing, or, how can I set an alternative icon?

Here is one of them.I created a user account for my wife - She was set up as an administrator with full access to everything (including wireless, internet, etc etc.)The top tool panel on MY desktop has the Speaker Icon - And to its left is a Wireless Internet Icon, which I use to connect to the internet and manage internet options. On my Wifes desktop - its not there. There is just three horizontal lines one ontop of the other. This is the icon for the "Notifications Icon" I have tried nm-whatever it was and It tells me an instance of it is already running.

This was unmissable! This does not seem to exist in 10.04 Lts or am I missing something. I've looked for an option to enable this but found nothing. I know the me menu is suppose to show my user name and icon above the text box but I'm not seeing it. is there some way to fix this? Also the text box is dark, I've seen screenshots where is is white. The text I type would be easier to see if the box was white. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I've been using natty for a few weeks. I can't remember to add something to the launcher, other than dragging it. I had thunderbird in the launcher, but accidentally removed it.Now, when I drag it back to the launcher, it's there in the launcher, but as a blank space. The thunderbird icon is missing. Ive tried rt clicking on the top panel >add to pannel>notification area....yet it is still missing.I know that NetworkManager is installed, yet I cant even access it to connect to a wireless network. I'm able to connect to Eth0.I cant tell if my wireless card drivers are setup or not and if that makes a difference.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen you go to System/Preferences/Appearance/ and the Appearance Preferences window displays the graphical representations of the themes, on most of them the gnome image-missing.png is displayed where the window menu icon (far-left on the titlebar) should be displayed. I never had this happen with Intrepid, but I do have this situation now on Jaunty. It's not just with new or added themes, it's the system's default installed themes as well. If you search around the net you'll see that this is a pretty common problem. Is a .png getting deleted, or is it something else in the process that is 'broken'?
Many of my apps display their proper menu window icons (like nautilus, ff3, etc.) - but others do not. As the title says after upgrading all packages in ubuntu 9.10, network manager icon in notification area is missing, I've tried deleting and adding notification area to the panel but no luck there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using ubuntu 10.4 and accidently removed the notification area from the top panel. Since then, I haven't been able to retrieve the icon. As I've read in many threads, I've added a new panel and added a notification error, but the area stays empty. (see screenshot) My other icons like the volume control and the amarok icon were gone as well, but setting up a new indicator applet did the trick. Still, the skype icon won't come back, I've even removed Skype and reinstalled it, but nothing changed. how I could get the icon back again?
