OpenSUSE Hardware :: Geforce Pkg - Keep Flipping The Pages Until Find A 9xxx?

Jun 1, 2010

Looking at the list of nVidia Geforce packages they all say "NVIDIA graphics driver kernel module for GeForce 6xxx and newer GPUs".. Does this means the installer will install the correct driver for y GT 9500 or do I keep flipping the pages until I find a 9xxx? ..also would the "nvidia-gfxG02-kmp-desktop" be the correct one to select for my system?

Ubuntu Networking :: T-mobile Rocket 2.0 Not Flipping?

Sep 21, 2010

I just picked up a 3g modem from T-mobile that I cannot get to work with 10.04Inserting the device and running lsusb gives Bus 002 Device 002: ID 19d2:1201 ONDA Communication S.p.A. I installed usb-modeswitch but I don't know how to configure the usb-modeswitch.conf I know I need to provide the default vendor and product as what is given above vendor=0x19d2 and product=0x1201 but I don't know what to put for the target vendor and product. I'm sure vendor is the same 0x19d2, but the product.. I don't know what to put for the target product so the usb storage will flip to usb modem.

Or maybe I'm completely wrong about how I'm going about this.I've researched this numerous places:[URL]nd I can see the basic idea of how to proceed, but I think I'm stuck at flipping the device from storage to modem mode.I've got 14 days to return this thing if I can't get it to work. I'm willing to mess around for all 14 of them if we can get this to work and help out any other ubuntu users who want to buy this device.

Fedora :: Hardware - GeForce 4 MX440 Vs GeForce FX5200

Aug 28, 2010

Today I received as a gift a 5 years old Gateway 500X CPU which is apparently dead due to a faulty motherboard (I still have to troubleshoot it, of course).

Even in the cause I can fix it, odds are I'll prefer to make the aforementioned CPU a donor for my other machines, instead of resurrecting an old Pentium 4 (no HT) system.

Being this the case I checked the parts for possible transplants:

512MB DDR PC2700 memory module (useful right off the shelf for my main desktop system).
120GB Maxtor IDE hard drive (also useful, assuming it is in working order).
128MB AGP8X NVIDIA GeForce4 MX440 graphics card.

On this last part (the graphics card) I have my doubts as of where to use it. My main desktop system already has an NVIDIA card: FX5200, 128MB, which is newer. The thing is that I've been doing some homework comparing both the MX440 and the FX5200 and get mixed opinions: for one thing the FX5200 is the latest of the two with some advantages like support for a later DirectX (which for Linux is pointless) and other things, but the FX5200 is also reported to be technically inferior to the MX440.

In your opinion/experience which card is a better performer? Should I expect a performance gain if I were to replace the FX5200 with the MX440?

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Installing Nvidia Drivers GeForce 210 In 11.4?

May 2, 2011

I am having a challenge to install drivers on this machine with the OS and graphics card stated in the subject. To date I have tried different ways and they are broken in the steps or in the results I get on my machine. The how-to written by ajohnw Installing an nvidia driver - easiest I have found to date. results in a file or directory not found when I try to execute

Code:

/etc/bin/nvidia-xconfig

The article SDB:NVIDIA the hard way results in the following error (copied from the error log):

Code:

ERROR: The kernel header file '/usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h' does not exist. The most likely reason for this is that the kernel source files in '/usr/src/linux' have not been configured.

Researching how to resolve that error and I can't find anything relevant to openSUSE 11, closest version being openSUSE 9.Lastly, I've tried this SDB:NVIDIA drivers and for some reason it does not generate the xorg.conf file. At least that's what I am concluding. I go through the steps, reboot the system and boot only to a command prompt. Navigating to /etc/X11/ there is no xorg.conf and I have to copy xorg.conf.install to xorg.conf to get back into the Desktop.

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Getting S Video Running On GeForce 8800 GTS?

Jul 25, 2011

I've been at this problem for a few days now, and I think it's time I give in and ask about it, because I am at a loss. For all intents and purposes, my computer is a homemade one with these specs

Asus M2N68-AM Plus Motherboard
AMD Athlon II X2 260 3.2Ghz
2GB DDR2 RAM
NVidia GeForce 8800 GTS

I am running OpenSuse 11.4, previously with GNOME 3 but on reinstall of the OS I have reverted back to GNOME 2 and I only want to update once this mess is out of the way.I'm doing a bit of a project, and one of the requirements is that I be able to connect to my TV. I made my own S Video to RCA cable to run out of my PC and into the TV. I tested that on the day I made it with a Windows laptop, worked fine.

Beforehand, my computer was running out of the DVI port into a monitor perfectly, so I can safely assume it is not my graphics card. When I plugged my S Video to RCA cable in, everything looked fine at boot but when it came to booting OpenSuse, X.org failed to start, although I wasn't around to see the error message (I now know that it was "x server failed maximum number of times" or something of that description). I tried startx on the command line only to get a "no screens found" error or something similar. The only way I could get it to successfully start was to revert to the xorg.conf.install file, which wasn't ideal and GNOME 3 had to run in fallback mode.

I did not like the fact that my graphics card wasn't running as well as it could. Nevertheless, I tested a few things, and found that a little Java program with LWJGL could not run, Xlib threw this error at meXlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0"So xorg.conf.install is no longer an option. I tried a variety of other troubleshooting options, first recommended by the OpenSuse wiki and then all sorts of xorg.conf edits. I've tried running nvidia-xconfig but the configuration it gives me the same error, I have tried X -configure, only to get the same error.

As a last resort I reinstalled OpenSuse 11.4 hoping that its automatic configuration would solve the problem. It sort of did. Now when I run anything when my xorg.conf file is not xorg.conf.install it successfully starts X.org the first time, and if I shut down and reboot within 10 minutes of it shutting down, X.org refuses to start. I did more searching around and found that I could specify S Video out through xorg.conf. I went back to the xorg.conf.d directory by deleting my xorg.conf file and changed my xorg.conf.d/50-device.conf to this

Code:

Section "Device"
Identifier "Default Device"
#Driver "radeon"
Driver "nvidia"

[code]....

Which I honestly thought would work, but I got the same error again. That's about the end of my story, if you want any more info just ask. I think it's a bit odd that no matter what I change my xorg.conf/xorg.conf.d files to I always get the same error and not a plethora of different ones.

OpenSUSE Hardware :: GeForce 9100 With 1680x1050 LCD Not Stay Configured

Apr 11, 2010

I just bought a new system with NVIDIA GeForce 9100 integrated graphics. I used [URL] to install the NVIDIA drivers and utilities. If I use sax2 from the commandline in runlevel 3 (or from KDE) and select LCD 1680x1050 for the display, I am able to test and save the configuration. If I then init 5, KDE starts with the proper display settings. NVIDIA X Server Settings tool shows that I have a Gateway FPD2275W(which is what I have) with display dimensions 1680x1050.

I even have the option to change the refresh rate to 75. I never told the configuration tools what kind of monitor I have, so something detected it. The problem comes when I reboot. The display reverts to 1280x1024 which is not correctly proportioned for my display. The NVIDIA tool then shows some kind of generic monitor, and does not give me any options to configure the display correctly. My system has an AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 820 Processor.

OpenSUSE Install :: Installing NVidia Driver For Geforce GTX 275 Fails

Aug 20, 2009

I have just installed openSUSE 11.1 64 bit on my system. Subsequently registered to get an auto-update repo and auto-updated until no more updates were offered. Then I first tried YaST to install NVidia drivers from the NVidia repo (added their repo), but sax2 wouldn't recognize them. So I downloaded their 190. (beta) drivers, installed the kernel source code and gcc 4.3. Then I switched to a console (Ctrl+Alt+F1), closed the x server, ran the driver install as described (gcc 4.3 is installed). Installer said that all is fine (I checked the log to be sure). So I ran sax2 -r -m 0=nvidia, but the driver still isn't recognized.

However the nvidia driver for eForce FX Go5200 seems to support only version 1.1.Is there a way to use both monitors with SUSE 11.2? OpenSUSE Hardware :: No Sound On Web Pages

i've tried changing "hda intel" back to the primary sound card, but then the system doesn't automatically switch to the logitech headset when it's plugged in because it's not of "higher priority".
