When I start up miro from terminal, I got below errors: $miro Fatal Python error: pycurl: libcurl link-time version is older than compile-time version ipv6 is sucking wind, so we're switching to ipv4./usr/bin/miro: line 27: 5859 Aborted miro.real "$@" I don't know what's this meaning. My system is openSUSE 11.4 x86_64 KDE 4.6.3.

But first things first, here's the setup: a central CentOS 5.5 server is running Apache2 and has a VirtualHost listening on Port 8080 for both CentOS and Fedora. The DocumentRoot for this VirtualHost is /data/repo wherein two directories, centos and fedora, reside.
This is the .repo-file for CentOS that works like a charm:

After the CentOS repository was up and running I follwed the exact same steps and was expecting to find a Fedora repo up and running (I know, I know, silly me...). However, yum complains it cannot download the repomd.xml. The .repo-File is as follows:

Yum returns the following error message:
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: local. Please verify its path and try again
The path is definitely correct - copying the url and pasting it into a webbrowser returns the correct repomd.xml file, so does pasting it to wget.
Any ideas? Does createrepo need any parameters in order to create a working Fedora repository?

I wanted to get some additional life out of a computer with 256MB of RAM, and discovered that FC12 was the only version of Linux I was able to install (out of the distros attempted). The installer went into text mode automatically, configuring only the root account. I used text-based tools after the first boot to configure networking, and installed a couple of additional packages with yum. Then I issued "yum update," and it retrieved and installed the available updates. That was the last time I used yum successfully, though. I obtained such error messages as "14: PYCURL ERROR 6" and "Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. verify its path and try again."
I discovered that such problems had been encountered by others, and had sometimes been solved by such methods as adding repositories to yum.conf, adding lines to /etc/hosts, adding a line to resolv.conf, tampering with fedora.repo or fedora updates.repo, or even with "yum clean all." None of these methods worked for me, however. My initial impression of Fedora is favorable, so I might like to try it even on a system where it wasn't the only available choice. Package management is essential to success with any OS, however, so I need to get past this issue.

yum is completely broken. I cannot install or update any software. yum is always throwing:

Please verify its path and try again I have tried globally to disable the gpg check as stated in other threads. I have no proxies or such in yum.conf or in my bashrc. If I manually click on the link it will resolve in firefox so I am sure it is not my net connection per se, it seems yum or curl is adding a : to the end of the url thats why it wont resolve properly.
I have done a yum clean all , which didnt really help either. reinstalling the rpmfusion repos isnt an option either as I start getting curl errors in the terminal. I am really at a loss here and am completely out of ideas as I cant install any updates or software , at first I thought the repositories were having problems with the holidays but this has been going on for 4 days now. /var/log/messages isnt showing anything either.

Miro worked well with Wheezy. When I upgraded to Jessie Miro started generating a python error as such:

I have been searching for a few weeks trying to find an answer to no avail. I tried three different kernels, renaming ~/.miro, checked all dependencies. I reported it as a bug which sat there for a few days and disappeared.
Miro 2.0 (a great podcasting application) was released few days ago. On the website they say that the packaging of Miro for OpenSUSE is maintained by Packman. But unfortunately Packman only provide Miro 1.2.8 and only for OpenSUSE 11.0. Is there a way to get Miro 2.0 for OpenSUSE 11.1?

After some problems using Miro applications I finally start it but I cannot use it because when I wanna download it can't. Also it cannot open the feeds. I think that my problem is related to the fact that I am using proxy for Internet.How can I get the application to work? I have set the proxy settings from yast -> Proxy

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just recently switched from Gnome to KDE in 11.2 since there was some sort of major KDE update that fixed the issues I had been having with KDE. Ever since, I have not been able to get miro to load. I try to run it and all I get is the bouncing logo, then nothing. When I try to run Miro in terminal, I get this:

I have a Dell Inspiron 5160 with a volare xp5 video card (only recently supported under linux most linux distros and OpenBSD)Thus far I have done graphics install of KDE based on 11.2 and -- froze end of install and at at the logon / splash screen dueing the reboot could not get to a successful run level 3 text logon. (commandline was vga=x317, I think if n ot it was closeInstalled gnome using text install -- first boot (vga=normal - (default from install)) succeeded at configuring X and started gnome.
I really want KDE so I tried again Text install == hung near the end of the install after printers -- I assume trying to configure XRebooted no command line parameter at all ( no vga=) -- hung at login password screen (blank)Rebooted again with -- vga=normal 3 -- and got a text mode login prompt and successfully logged in -- now I can not find the page that talks about sax2 configuration from run mode 3. I recently installed OpenSUSE 11.3 amd64 from DVD on a new HP 625 Laptop. Whenever networking is activated, application startup slows down significantly. When I deactivate networking in the nm-applet application startup is fine. I am using the broadcom-wl package from packman for the broadcom wireless card (BCM4313)

Then I tried to use miro and discovered it was gone. So I reinstalled, then discovered gourmet was gone. OK, there's the problem, so I went to Synaptic to confirm. Tried to reinstall gourmet and was told it would remove miro. So, any fix for this? I'd like to use both programs.

I have installed Miro video player on Ubuntu 10.4 and then I wanted to use Gourmet recipe manager. when I try to install gourmet either from apt-get or the package manager it uninstalls Miro.oes anyone know how to get both of them to be installed on the same computer at the same time. My current work around is a VM with Winxp and using a recipe manager software, but this is the last bit of windows software that I need, and would like to use gourmet so that I can get rid of windows on my computer.

Miro won't play audio cd and dvd video!!! I am using Miro 4.0.1 and I can't a play a simple audio cd or dvd video. I have "show all devices and drives" checked. My audio cd and dvd video doesn't not show up on the left pane like it does on iTunes, totem, etc.

I currently have Miro set to "Automatically run Miro when I log in". However, I find it irritating to have to right-click on Miro's task-bar icon, and press "hide" every time I log in. Essentially, I want Miro to start every time I log in, so it can start downloading feeds right away, but I want it hidden on login.

It's been a bit since I've used it, but opened it up today, and it's just performing at a crawl, not to mention sucking up a goodly amount of CPU cycles (process "miro.real"). I've tried the Repo version 3.5.x as well as the PPA version 4.0.3, both are just as slow and as choppy as it can be in 11.04. Any thoughts, or anyone just want to share my misery? But this is persistently annoying, tho not a deal-breaker. Currently running latest Ubuntu 10.04, fully updated. Everything works fine, even better than any previous releases. No problems worth mentioning. But this is annoying, so anyway, here I am.
Installed Miro, loads up and runs fine, can download no probs. The section at the top where it says "account", and you sit over it and it drops down a window for your login details (username, password) so as to recall your personal settings, preferences, etc, but it's not working. By this, I mean the drop-down appears, but clicking the mouse in the window on the lines does not seem to register with it, you can't enter anything. Annoying, slightly frustrating. Has anyone had any experience with this,
I was experiencing problems in Totem (Movie Player) seeking through some mp3 files. This problem, luckily, was solved (as per this launchpad bug post) by swapping the package:
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
for the package:
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse
The only problem being that the package Miro requires:
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
So, this makes me have to choose between Totem and Miro. I'd like to use both, fully enabled.
