I am having problems with huludesktop not displaying videos in full screen. I launch huludesktop and maximize it so that it is full screen but the video is displayed in letter box. When I watch the same video via chrome it displays it without the letter box. I am running mythbuntu 10.10 (64 bit)and I have the problem using both the flash via ndiswrapper and via the native 64 bit version (10.2 I think) from the seven machines ppa. I am running the most recent version of huludesktop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have Miro set to "Automatically run Miro when I log in". However, I find it irritating to have to right-click on Miro's task-bar icon, and press "hide" every time I log in. Essentially, I want Miro to start every time I log in, so it can start downloading feeds right away, but I want it hidden on login.
View 1 Replies View Relatedexcuse if this is incorrect section, not entirely sure where it would belong. I rarely find myself posting as i rarely have any issues. But this is persistently annoying, tho not a deal-breaker. Currently running latest Ubuntu 10.04, fully updated. Everything works fine, even better than any previous releases. No problems worth mentioning. But this is annoying, so anyway, here I am.
Installed Miro, loads up and runs fine, can download no probs. The section at the top where it says "account", and you sit over it and it drops down a window for your login details (username, password) so as to recall your personal settings, preferences, etc, but it's not working. By this, I mean the drop-down appears, but clicking the mouse in the window on the lines does not seem to register with it, you can't enter anything. Annoying, slightly frustrating. Has anyone had any experience with this,
Miro won't play audio cd and dvd video!!! I am using Miro 4.0.1 and I can't a play a simple audio cd or dvd video. I have "show all devices and drives" checked. My audio cd and dvd video doesn't not show up on the left pane like it does on iTunes, totem, etc.

I have been searching for a few weeks trying to find an answer to no avail. I tried three different kernels, renaming ~/.miro, checked all dependencies. I reported it as a bug which sat there for a few days and disappeared.
I was experiencing problems in Totem (Movie Player) seeking through some mp3 files. This problem, luckily, was solved (as per this launchpad bug post) by swapping the package:
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
for the package:
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse
The only problem being that the package Miro requires:
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
So, this makes me have to choose between Totem and Miro. I'd like to use both, fully enabled.
Does anyone else have the problem with Natty 64 bit, where when apps are opened up in full screen its not filling the screen properly, until the app in minimized & maximized again? Unity works fine, this is only an issue in classic mode.
View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen I click fullscreen in BBC iPlayer or ..... or whatever, the whole browser crashes instantly, no warning. And secondly my visual effects aren't working. When I go into Appearance and try and change from 'None' to 'Normal', it says 'Searching for available drivers' for about 20 seconds, and then says 'Desktop effects could not be enabled'.Both visual effects and fullscreen flash worked fine until about lunchtime today, and I honestly can't think of anything I did that would've changed setting or messed something up, so I really don't know.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wife has Fedora 15 installed on her laptop because she wants to use Gnome-3. I installed Fedora 15 Beta-1 and enabled a few ?repositories? through rpmfusion because she needs Flash and Dropbox for her work. She kept it up to date with the default gui application (?gnome-packagekit?). Somehow, somewhere, something went wrong.
A while back she kept getting errors while trying to update ("another system is already using rpm" or something like that). Also the window theme changed to something resembling windows. And she lost the ability to put a window full screen by dragging it to the top op the screen or tiling it by dragging it to the left or right of the screen.
I managed to "repair" the system by disabling one rpmfusion ?repository? ("rpmfusion future" or something like that) by using the gui. From the terminal I was able to get yum upgrade working again by a yum remove of three packages that were conflicting or pinned. I also managed to restore the correct window theme with the gnome-tweak-tool.
However, I can't find any information on how to re-enable the dragging to fullscreen or tiling. Google is no help it just keeps turning up sites with people talking about the fact that gnome-3 has dragging to fullscreen (or whining about it).
I'm not sure if this is a bug for firefox, kde, kubuntu, or adobe flash playerbut every time I go on an online video site like ..... I see a lot oftearing. And when I say a lot of tearing I mean tearing when their is barelyany motion at all. I know that my video driver isn't the problem because when Iswitch to fullscreen any tearing that their might be is barely noticeable. AlsoI haven't noticed the problem while in gnome. Reproducible:AlwaysSteps to Reproduce:1. Watch an online video while in kde2.3.Actual Results: Tearing while watching videos regardless of the amount of motion
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using VirtualBox and I installed the Guest additions successfully. Host F does not work as it is not the problem. The resolution under monitor is 800x600. I had the same problem in Fedora where I modified the xorg.conf however Ubuntu does not have the file located in /etc/X11/...
I tried adding it with the same xorg.conf from my Fedora Virtual machine but that screwed up my display and had to fix it from the terminal.
Not sure why Ubuntu 10 doesn't have an xorg.conf or how to fix the display if not from xorg.conf?
I'm using ubuntu 11.04 with Unity 2d as my hardware is too old to run the original one. I was previously using Lubuntu but after a slight RAM upgrade decided to use Ubuntu. Now I can't watch full screen video's online which is not the problem as it's always been like this with every distro I've used but now I can't even watch full screen videos in VLC, totem or any other media player for that matter, it'll either lag or completely freeze my system and this worked in Lubuntu fine

I've searched and tried flash-aid and reinstalling flash nether worked. I've also removed x.org/fglrx-amdcccle and it stopped the crashing but made the videos unwatchable (low fps).

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using lucid and the adobe-flashplugin 10 package. When I watch programmes in fullscreen on the BBC iPlayer or Channel4-on-demand player it works fine but switches back to windowed mode after about 5 or 10 minutes. I put it back into fullscreen and the same thing happens after the same sort of time. I read this thread about flash switching out of fullscreen when the volume is adjusted, but I'm not adjusting the volume...how can I fix this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedVLC which didn't exist before (possibly due to some updates) When viewing a video file (say an .avi file so it has nothing to do with flash)in maximized windows or full screen, playback becomes very slow and sometimes freezes momentarily (with the screen turning grey) On the other hand, if I open the same file in a small screen and then strech it out to the size of a maximized windows everything is fine. I don't notice anything extraordinary in terms of cpu or memory usage (from running top in the terminal) when this happens.
This problem only happens with VLC, Banshee has no problem playing these same files in full screen. I use Compiz, disabling Compiz stops VLC from freezing but it still seems a bit sluggish in full screen. I used to be able to play videos with VLC in full screen AND with Compiz on.
I am running Ubuntu 10.04. VLC is working fine in 10.10 on the same machine.
Whenever i wanna watch a video on any site like ....., hulu, or cbs, the video watches fine in the normal minimized view. But when
i turn on fullscreen the video plays for a couple minutes, or seconds, and then freezes for about half a minute, but the sound continues.
I put ubuntu on an old 3 ghz p4 and I went on to ....., the video was choppy especially when I switched to fullscreen. I have heard that flash is slower in linux, but here's the thing I have an old live cd for a distro called artistx, I think I burned in 2008, and I remember watching flash videos fine on it. I put it in the pc just to test it and then after it booted I went to ..... and watched the same video in 480p and fullscreen and it played back smoothly. Has flash gotten slower or is it ubuntu?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI insert my DVD into my machine. The little "waddya wanna do" window then opens, and I select "play in VLC." I then press the play option on the video menu (not the play button on the VLC controls). Then the VLC window turns black, or the part where the video is supposed to appear does, anyway. So double-clicking to get to fullscreen sometimes fixes the problem, but then I can only view it in fullscreen, not good. It didn't fix the problem this time, so I double-clicked again to get out of fullscreen. Then my whole display turns black and white. WTH? The display problem fixes on a reboot.
This happens on a regular basis when I try to play movies. My display is, right now, black and white. After I finish this post I'll restart my computer to fix the colors. Also, it should be helpful that when I move the VLC window or am going to/from fullscreen, I can see the movie for a split second, and in full color. The rest of the screen stays B & W, though. Also, for some reason, when I play a movie, VLC open two windows: one with the video, and the other with a visualization and a title bar saying "VLC (X11 output)"
When I enter certain sites that only support windows mp plugins, I cannot view the content in those sites! Is there a way to enable these plugins in ubuntu 10.10? Another problem I have is when trying to play videos on ....., everything works fine until I click on the full screen button... then the sound goes on but the picture freezes! My computer is a laptop Packard bell EasyNote TH.

Every once in a while, clicking the fullscreen icon on a Flash video will result in the video playback overlay appearing behind the actual browser requiring the browser to be minimised to see the video. Sometimes this will minamise both and I can't watch it at all. Reproducible with this video [URL]
but I had trouble trying to play an avi file on the bigscreen via my laptop's HDMI output.Although I could play the video in a full size box (with status bars and borders visible), both screens would go black when I double-clicked to go full size. This happened in both MPlayer and VLC as long as the HDMI cable was connected. Audio was fine.It presents as some sort off copyright protection, but I remember being able to watch movies fine in Maverick. Is anyone else having this problem with Natty?

n an up-to-date kubuntu karmic I experience the following:watching a flash video with adobeflash in firefox in fullscreen mode, randomly the picture freezes while the audio continues. The video unfreezes when I move the mouse, the video then fastforwards to the actual replay position. Video card is nvidia geforce fx5200 on proprietary driver, I have the desktop effects enabled. Any idea what this is about? I discovered the effects causing wine windows to break (no window contents, no foreground, no reaction on mouse) when changing the desktops or minimizing them. Seems like there are some bugs in the window manager / decorator...

i looked around on the forums; i tried to install the flash-aid extension for firefox. it says that my architecture is 32bit, then reinstalls the flash plugin, but that doesn't help; fullscreen still crashes. i also tried to install the 64bit version from adobe's website, but that doesn't help.
i had a look at the mozilla website [url] i tried to preload the libgl.so.1 library as suggested there, but that doesn't help. i wanted to try to disable hardware acceleration in the flash player settings, but i can't even change the settings; when i right-click on settings, the adobe small preferences screen appears but i can't click on anything, nothing works.
that's all on ubuntu 10.04 with firefox 3.6.3 and flash player 10,0,45,2. i also installed the newer 10.1 flashplayer plugin from the adobe website, but firefox still crashes.
