OpenSUSE :: Error: RPM Failed: Error: Package Kwin-4.3.5-0.2.1.i586 Is Not Installed
Jun 14, 2010
I'm running 11.2 KDE 4.3.5, recently every time I've tried to use the Updater Applet I get this error after choosing to install an update: PackageKit Error internal-error: Installation aborted by user. Then I run YaST to try to manually install the update and get the following error:
Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: error: package kwin-4.3.5-0.2.1.i586 is not installed. Really unsure how to fix this but it's only blocking updates/patches, I can download new programs fine.
I have been having a recurring issue for a number of weeks now. Everytime Software Update appears it says there are updates so I click update, enter my root password and then I get this error message:
Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: error: package postfix-2.6.1-2.1.i586 is not installed Now that package is not mentioned on the list for me to untick so I have no idea where it's coming from. It happens each time and everytime the updates don't get done. They just stay on the list and new ones keep getting added. The list is getting pritty big now
Online Update is offered up 6 updates - only 2 succeeded (Mozilla and libpoppler). Here's the errors for other packages: kbd - Keyboard and Font Utilities (includes aaa_base update) Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: error: package kbd-1.14.1-20.2.x86_64 is not installed
php5: fix for several vulnerabilities Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: error: package php5-ctype-5.3.0-2.4.3.x86_64 is not installed
patterns-openSUSE: add susehelp to KDE base pattern Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: error: package patterns-openSUSE-file_server-11.2-20.22.1.x86_64 is not installed KDE 4.3.5 Update Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: rpmdb: PANIC: Invalid argument rpmdb: PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery
I just did 'yum update' on my system and got a number of errors such as this one:
Code:
Updating : xfce4-settings-4.6.1-4.fc11.i586 87/184 Error unpacking rpm package xfce4-settings-4.6.1-4.fc11.i586 error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/share/locale/zh_CN/LC_MESSAGES/xfce4-settings.mo;4ad11889: cpio: open
Sometimes instead of "cpio: open" it was "cpio: rename". There were a total of 18 such errors. These were listed as failures in the summary at the end. I then did another "yum update" and it redid 17 of the 18 successfully. It did not redo f-spot. Here's a snippet of the summary at the end of the first update:
Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: installing package xen-4.0.0_21091_06-0.1.1.x86_64 needs 27MB on the /boot filesystemI seem not to be able to change the size of the /boot, but 11.2 loads okay but not 11.3There only 19MB left from 66 and I can't make it bigger, I hope there is someone thathas seen this. I would like to see some of the update with XEN.
Today i upgraded my system and started getting error when i update, install or remove a package. The error isn't restricted only to one repository so i thing something is wrong with my system.
i have installed dhcp server on RHEL5.after instalation when i want to restart it.it shows failed message. rpm package is also installed.(dhcp-3.0.5-13.el5) dhcpd.conf file is also in /etc directory
When the RPM runs it come up with this error. How do I install the required dependencies? I have added more repositories, but still there are a few dependencies missing. Is there a zypper/sudo -get or something available? Opensuse 11.1 Gnome
when I am trying to install a RPM package I get the following error: failed to install file: [PK_TMP_DIR|dir:///var/tmp/TmpDir.w29lVZ] Repository already exists It tried to install DBVisualizer and Adobe Reader 9 and get the same error. Just the directory is different. How do I solve this? I tried to delete the mentioned directories but I can't find them on the file system.
I upgraded a system from 10.3 to 11.4 and I get the following error when trying to run mysql:
Will update MySQL now, if you encounter any problems, please read following file: /usr/share/doc/packages/mysql-community-server/README.SuSE Log files inconsistency, please merge following files manually: /var/lib/mysql/mysqld.log /var/log/mysqld.log
How can I correct this? Mysql will not start so I can not run any of the utilities.
I have recently updated my ATI drivers to Catalyst 10.10 (ati-driver-installer-10-10-x86.x86_64.run) from the AMD website and I have not been able to get KWin to enable compositing.
I am installing opensuse 11.3 as a text-based web server. I have installed apache2, php, php-gd, php-pear and mysql... Now, I am trying to run the installwizard.php to install this LAMP app and any php file, seems to just download, instead of 'resolve to the screen' in the browser. When I run chkconfig, and see that apache and mysql are running. I have already restarted apache, and it seems to come up okay. I have created a test index.html file, and seems to be loading fine. I have googled for this, and it doesn't seem to happen to anyone else! when I try to yum install php, it says that version php5-5.3.2-1.31.i586 is already installed.
I am using yum, on the command line. Permissions are:
I was installing wine but my computer suddenly shut off and now the installation is corrupted and when I try to install it again through ubuntu software center it tells me
"The installation could have failed because of an error in the corresponding software package or it was cancelled in an unfriendly way. You have to repair this before you can install or remove any further software." How could I fix this??
Have received errors the last two times I've run Update Manager. This one says: Package Operation Failed
The installation or removal of a software package failed. Details: installArchives() failed: Preconfiguring packages ... Preconfiguring packages ... (Reading database ... (Reading database ... 5% (Reading database ... 10%

subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 The last error said something about "Max Reports". What I can't tell is whether the updates actually installed.
While loading a rpm package its showing error of failed dependencies so wat to do for dat pls guide me n in another case its showing cant create transaction lock on /var/lib/rpm/_db.000
I am using Fedora 11 (2.6.30.10-105.2.23.fc11.i686.PAE). I got a patch for tpm_tis.c which a module to get my itpm working. And, for this I thought to customise the existing kernel and install new one.
So, I followed the foolowing steps:
In 'make menuconfig' , I have disabled Kernel debugging in the Kernel hacking section.
Then changed EXTRAVERSION to something like .test in Makefile
I am trying to run 'yum install cpptest.i586' to run a 32 bit application on my x86_64 fedora Virtual machine. But when I run this command, it throws an error message like 'cannot get the exclusive lock at the backend. Please close any other legacy packaging tools that may be open'. Though, I have checked that there is no other such process running by doing 'ps -ef|grep yum'. And then it goes to sleeping stat.
I was trying to install ubuntu 9.10 as a dual boot system with windows and I recieved this error message: The Grub package failed to install into /target/. Without the Grub boot loader, the installed system will not boot
This Error comes up after 94% of the install. I also cannot seem to get the side by side install option to work (sometimes this option appears sometimes it does not) I am not sure but I beleive seome of the install files have been placed on the hard drive because I only get the option now to install on the hard drive and totally wipe clean or the emptiest hard drive. So how would I get the possible Ubuntu install off the Hard drive. I have used this CD to Install before it has no scratches therefore should work. Also If I have Win Xp on a Raid 0 will the Ubuntu 9.10 install ?
I am currently trying to get my RadRails working. There are certain tasks I cannot complete and I'm guessing that installing mongrel and some other items would get everything going. I run the update and it seems to fail horribly and I've been looking on google for the last 2 hours to the answer to this one. This is there errors I have gotten so far.
By the way I am currently using Ubuntu 10.04 if that makes any difference. I have already downloaded and installed sqlite3 and sqlite dev.
Code:
>gem install -l mongrel-1.1.5.gem Building native extensions. This could take a while... ERROR: Error installing mongrel-1.1.5.gem: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.

Now at this point I am just trying to find the intern.h header file and can't find out what to download to get that.
Nothing to do. Used zypper dup to upgrade from 11.3. Still have boot problems (will open another thread), but had major problems upgrading timezone. File downloads would reach some percentage of completion, then B/s would slowly reduce, to zero. Upgrade would halt until manually aborted. Solution was to manually download 5 timezone files and install them in a directory repository. File download did not specify just the timezone file, but also a part of the directory. Could this be part of the problem? example: ./rpm/i586/timezone-2011d-0.2.1.i586.rpm instead of just the file name.System is a Dell 3000 (Pentium 4, 512MB memory).
i hav a system which is never connected to internet. I had installed opensuse 11.1 from dvd.But the media files r not working. I had installed gstreamer all sets. And tried to install codecs using a .ypm file i downloaded from the opensuse server but not working without internet. I can download any files in other system and copy it to my system.
I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 but "whenever i try to download or install any software from 'Ubuntu software Center'it gives error: "Failed to download Package Files Check your internet Connection" Internet is working fine!I've also tried the command: "sudo apt-get update"
While i am using yum update am getting an error: Error: Missing Dependency: libgpod.so.0()(64bit) is needed by package rhythmbox-0.11.6-4.el5.x86_64 (installed).
I am currently trying to upgrade over 100 rpms on multiple Red Hat servers. Whenever I try to do a rpm -u /packages/*.rpm i recieve a failed dependencies error on the very first rpm. I know that I can go though each rpm one by one and trace each dependency but that will take forever. Is there a way to skip these errors? I know the -nodeps command for rpm but I dont want to screw something up but running all of these rpms on -nodeps
I am new to Open Suse 11.4 in fact to Linux. I was trying to install a statistical package "pspp-0.7.8-2.1.i586.rpm" An error pops up saying "[PK_TMP_DIR|dir:///var/tmp/TmpDir.eYc5jn] Repository already exists." "failed to install file: [PK_TMP_DIR|dir:///var/tmp/TmpDir.eYc5jn] Repository already exists."
